It was all smiles and “welcome aboard” for Mimi Poling from Plainfield Park District commissioners after she was sworn in as the seventh board member during Wednesday, December 10th’s, board meeting. Poling was selected by state Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego, when Cross and Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, were each given the authority to appoint a commissioner to the board. Bertino-Tarrant’s appointment was Rob Ayres who was sworn in during the November board meeting. The sevenmember board came about after a state bill co-sponsored by Bertino-Tarrant and Cross went into effect in August increasing the board from five to seven members. The board also heard from Recreation Manager Andy Dunfee who reported on the state of revenues generated from outdoor facilities. Comparisons between 2013 and 2014 saw a drop in overall revenue from $158,095 in 2013 to $142,729 in 2014. He said the cooler summer season didn’t help bring in as much revenue from the Ottawa Street
