Plainfield man target of drive-by shooting

The Plainfield Police Department said a Plainfield man was the target of a drive-by shooting Thursday evening. Police responded to 24024 W. Champion Drive in reference to possible shots fired Nov. 5 at 6:42 p.m. Officers made contact with the resident and determined that while he was walking to the front door of the residence, a vehicle drove by and fired multiple rounds at him. The rounds fired struck the residence and a vehicle in the driveway. The resident, who police said was the intended target, was grazed by a bullet fragment but refused medical treatment. “This was not a random shooting,” Plainfield police Sgt. Mike Fisher said in a statement. “This event was targeted at the specific individual living at this specific residence.” Fisher added in a later interview that, “[A case] is more difficult when all parties involved don’t cooperate.” Police gave a description of the car as being a dark-colored, small compact vehicle. Police said the shooting is an active and ongoing investigation and are asking anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact the Plainfield Police Department Investigations Division at 815-439-7652.
