Annual awareness campaign confronts language targeting people with intellectual disabilities he first Wednesday of March is a day to spread awareness about the harmful effects language can have on people with intellectual disabilities, their families and their friends. Spread the Word to End the Word Awareness Day is an annual campaign that asks people to pledge to stop using the “R-word” and to use respectful, people-first language.
