Four years of high school: Whether it’s memorizing the periodic table, worrying about what dress to wear for prom, or practicing for that Friday night football game, 24 credits and early life lessons shape millions of teenagers into young adults. The Bugle asked four seniors about their experiences and how they feel they’ve changed over their last four years. Brenna Moreland

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed overall since freshman year?’ “Probably a 6.” On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed mentally since freshman year? “Mentally, I’ve changed a lot. I’d probably rate it a 9, I’ve learned that you shouldn’t care what people think about you and your true friends will always be there for you when you need them.” If you could give your freshman self a piece of advice, what would you say? “I would probably tell myself to do a lot more in high school. It goes by really fast and you never really think about that when you’re a senior.” Kevin Nielsen

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed overall since freshman year? “Overall? I’d say 7.” On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed mentally since freshman year? “An 8-9, I’ve learned a few things, definitely have fun but still try to keep up with your grades. Oh, and Mr. Sherp is the best.” If you could give your freshman self a piece of advice, what would you say? “If I could tell my freshman self something, I would say: try harder in school.”

Olivia Sobacke

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed overall since freshman year? “A 10.” On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed mentally since freshman year? “A 10, I feel like you have to be able to open up to people which can be hard, but once you do you have the opportunity to make some life long friends.” If you could give your freshman self a piece of advice, what would you say? “I would tell my freshman self that school is really important. Honestly, my freshman year I didn’t really focus on school or care that much, and especially for junior year you have to prioritize school. You can still have fun, you just need to stay on track with school too.”

David Sweat

On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed overall since freshman year? “A 5.” On a scale of 1-10, how much do you think you’ve changed mentally since freshman year? “A 10, I’m more mature. I think about the future more and getting a good career.” If you could give your freshman self a piece of advice, what would you say? “I would tell younger me to focus less on what my friends are doing, and stay focused on school. Four years really flies by and while it seems impossible at the time, you can balance good grades & fun if you try hard enough.”
