WELCOME TO FROM THE CHAIRMAN... FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

THE SETT

As Chairman of Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to The Sett and I hope that you have an enjoyable visit.

Here at Bugbrooke St Michaels we are working hard to develop a club with a strong inclusive ethos, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

We are extremely proud of our youth development programme, supporting players from seven all the way up to eighteen. Many of our young players go on to have success with one of our adult teams, with some players going on to even bigger and better things!

There is a great wealth of local support for the club, everyone that helps does so on a voluntary basis and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we have been able to achieve and maintain FA Accredited status.

Whilst some clubs choose to reinvest their revenue into players and wages, here at Bugbrooke we hold a different set of values. All of our profits go into upgrading our equipment and facilities, building a solid future-proof foundation that will be here for future generations to enjoy.

Whilst this can sometimes hold us back from gaining huge success on the pitch, we feel our excellent facilities, youth development programme and ethos on community sets us apart from other clubs.

Success and progression starts from the beginnings.

Thank you for your support today, we hope that you enjoy the game, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bugbroooke St Michaels Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to our team of volunteers, our advertisers and sponsors.

OUR HISTORY BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS FC

Formed in 1929, Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club took over from Bugbrooke United who folded in 1928 after being in existence since 1910.

The club, which is named after the local St Michael’s and All Angels Church, initially took its place in the Northants Central Village League and had immense success, winning the league title from 1931 to 1937

The club closed for the Second World War before reforming in 1947 and were once again successful, winning the CVL title from 1947 to 1950, and were Northants Lower Junior Cup runners-up in 1949, a feat repeated in 1954.

We finally won the N F A Lower Junior Cup in 1956 and followed this in 1957 by winning the prestigious Daventry Charity Cup

The club had its most successful years from 1966 to 1972 when we won the Northants Central Combination Premier title and again from 1976 to 1979 with 1977 also seeing us win the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup again.

The club continued to succeed in the Northants Combination until 1987 when we took the decision to join the United Counties League.

At this time, we decided to run two teams in the U.C.L and two teams in the C.N.C. We also began our youth section and have continued this ever since. Today we run 4 adult sides, including a recently formed Ladies team as well as 15 youth teams.

The club has continued to enjoy success across all age groups over those 30 years, the most notable being N F A Junior Cup winners in 1992, N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1993, and U.C.L Division One winners in 2001.

The reputation for producing successful youth teams has increased over those years and 4 of our youth players (under 16) have been signed by professional league clubs

The achievements of the club on the field have always been supported by a hardworking committee whose chief officers are recorded on a roll in the clubhouse flyer They, along with the supporters of the club, have built up the excellent changing room sand clubhouse since 1980

We hope that you enjoy the facilities that they have provided over those years, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future

WHOARETHEY?

HISTORY OF AYLESTONE PARK FOOTBALL CLUB

Aylestone Park Senior Section was formed way back in 1980 and at that point it was a natural progression from youth team football where we were very successful at local level.

Our early years saw us develop from Sunday morning adult football in the Charnwood League to our first taste of Saturday football courtesy of the Leicester & District League where we were very successful, gaining many league honours and various County F.A Cup successes. Without doubt this was a very vibrant time for the club and on the back of our previous achievements we were eventually accepted into the Leicestershire Senior League which was not only a major step up in playing standards but also level of facility. Floodlights, a spectator stand and post and rail pitch were standard requirements back then in the late 80’s and without doubt Leicestershire football was at a very good level, with the likes of Shepshed Charterhouse, Quorn, Coalville Town, Barwell, Friar Lane Old Boys to name but a few - all making for some very attractive fixtures.

Although ‘The Park’ thoroughly enjoyed their many years of Senior League membership, it became clear that the established clubs were looking to make progress and pursue pastures new. This ‘progression’ wasn’t lost on us and following our recent re-location to our new facilities in 2010 we finally enjoyed our best season to date in 2011-12, gaining promotion to the East Midlands Counties League which provides football at Step 6 on the National Football Pyramid System.

The season 2012/2013 was a beneficial one when APFC beat Ashby Ivanhoe 3-1 to lift the Senior Cup and the following season we were invited into the East Midlands Counties League following an 11th hour resignation from one of its member clubs, needless to say, we duly accepted the offer.

Season 2018/19 saw another milestone in the history of the club. The Leagues Committee that operates from the National Wembley Stadium decided to alter all step 5 and 6 Leagues in an effort to ease travelling time and also revert to 20 team constitutions. This re-organisation saw us relocated ‘sideways’ to the United Counties League. This also coincided with our highly successful youth team manager Matt Wormleighton stepping up to the plate to manage first team business. Matt’s loyalty, enthusiasm and dedication was there for all to see and he was ably assisted by other club stalwarts, Adam Hart and Kev Matthews plus the experience of Jason Genders and Tom Orton who completed the management team.

In July 2021 Bob Stretton, one of the founder members of the club, retired from the role of Chairman from the club. Without Bob’s vision, determination and ingenuity the club would not even exist and would certainly not be in the positive position it is now. John Greaves, a former player for the club, was elected as the new Chairman and has been hugely instrumental in continuing to deliver further progress to the club. Indeed, since his tenure, a new 500-seater grandstand complete with accessible and standing areas has been installed, a new 6M x 3M digital scoreboard is in evidence, a new post and rail system now surrounds pitches 1 & 2, a new sports bar was opened in June and a complete refurbishment of the changing rooms was completed prior to season 2021/2022.

AYLESTONE PARK FC

Season 2022/2023, saw a change in the management/coaching team with Matt Wormleighton stepping down after 4 years in the role as 1st team manager to undertake a new role at the club. Josh Dixon was appointed as first team manager and he was joined by Kade Lewis, as assistant manager, Liam Smith as coach and Martin Milnes is the goalkeeper’s coach. Dean Wright is the club’s physio and Kev Matthews continues in his role as kitman. With the introduction of several new players and a different style of football the club won the UCL Division 1 title by 6 points and were top of the league throughout the season after the opening round of matches.

The end of October 2023 saw a change in the management structure and James Dodd became 1st team manager and Elliot Shilliam was appointed as assistant manager with Matt Coates, Michael Milnes, Kev Matthews and Dean Wright all supporting James in their respective roles. Further changes occurred for the beginning of season 2024/2025 with Matt, Dean and Kev all leaving the club with Jake Duffy taking the role of player/coach, Michael extending his role to include the kitman’s duties and Beth Roberts joined the club as physiotherapist.

On a broader scale, Aylestone Park F.C provides football in the local community for not only adult football but also a wide range of age group sections i.e. mini-soccer, junior, youth and ladies football plus an inclusive section for youngsters with learning difficulties. It is this vision of how we see the whole footballing picture and what is required in our community that has enabled us to be assisted by various grant aid in addition to our own dedicated fundraising efforts that have given us an outstanding, first-class facility, most notably a ‘state of the art’ 3G pitch complete with floodlights and a 100-seater covered stand. Aylestone Park has made a massive effort in providing the very best for its players, supporters and club members and equally important its visitors from other clubs.
