WELCOME TO FROM THE CHAIRMAN... FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

THE SETT

As Chairman of Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to The Sett and I hope that you have an enjoyable visit.

Here at Bugbrooke St Michaels we are working hard to develop a club with a strong inclusive ethos, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

We are extremely proud of our youth development programme, supporting players from seven all the way up to eighteen. Many of our young players go on to have success with one of our adult teams, with some players going on to even bigger and better things!

There is a great wealth of local support for the club, everyone that helps does so on a voluntary basis and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we have been able to achieve and maintain FA Accredited status.

Whilst some clubs choose to reinvest their revenue into players and wages, here at Bugbrooke we hold a different set of values. All of our profits go into upgrading our equipment and facilities, building a solid future-proof foundation that will be here for future generations to enjoy.

Whilst this can sometimes hold us back from gaining huge success on the pitch, we feel our excellent facilities, youth development programme and ethos on community sets us apart from other clubs.

Success and progression starts from the beginnings.

Thank you for your support today, we hope that you enjoy the game, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bugbroooke St Michaels Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to our team of volunteers, our advertisers and sponsors.

FEMALE FOOTBALL

##HERGAMETOO HERGAMETOO @ THE SETT

Bugbrooke U18 Girls were formed last year and were successful in their first season competing in Div 1 of the Bedfordshire FA Girls Football League. They finished 3rd and were the only team to beat Real Bedford – in their final league game of the season – as well as reaching the League Cup Final – losing to Real Bedford!

Despite losing 15 players at the end of last season, mostly due to players becoming too old, the squad is still 18 strong and has started the season impressively They have won all four of their matches so far, and currently sit top of Div 1 of the newly formed Northants Women’s & Girls Football League.

Coaches James Geddes and Bob Lane work closely with Ladies team coaches (Stuart White and Alex DeBoer) to ensure that the team also provides a pathway into Women’s football A number of players have made the step up over the last 12 months and the aim is to have more players joining the Ladies squad during the current season. The team is supported by Physio Kayleigh Brocklehurst who also plays for the Ladies team

New sponsors Halo Security and GA Photography have generously agreed to provide new kit, training tops and hoodies so the girls will soon look as impressive off the pitch as they do on it!

New players are always welcome regardless of their experience or ability especially as the team will lose another 9 players at the end of this season. For now though, the aim is to keep improving, stay top of the league and hopefully go one step further in one of the 3 Cup Competitions that the team are involved in!

NEWS! ##BADGER BADGER @ THE SETT

Huge shoutout to our U16 goalkeeper Patrick who this week has been sponsored for goalkeeper gloves by a company called Just 4 Keepers (J4K)

In exchange for wearing their gloves, Patrick has agreed to post on social media and show them in action!

Patrick also now has access to different resources to help improve his game and an online forum where he can watch videos on the different aspects of goalkeeping, gain the opinions and input from other keepers and get individual help and support from the business owner, Ray Newland.

Ray was a professional goalkeeper who played for, amongst other teams, Everton.

This is fantastic for Patrick, who at just 15 years old, has already made his debut for our U18’s this season which includes a debut in the FA Youth Cup! He is a valued part of the squad and the future is looking bright for our young Badger!

As part of the U16’s squad he is a well respected and an invaluable part of the team! Where would we be without our number 1!

Best of luck to Patrick and both the U16’s and U18’s squads this season!

STEPH HAYLEY TEAM! MEET THE MEET THE

This season Steph was awarded with Clubman of the year for her contribution and hard work to the club. In her spare time Steph enjoys spending time with her family and is a dedicated Spurs supporter. She is also known for a bag for life after a heavy night out!

In her spare time Hayley enjoys watching her son play within our U16's squad and supporting her daughter with her horse riding. She enjoys going out with her friends and walking her dog.

CALVIN GREEN NOTES MANAGERS MANAGERS

Good afternoon, everyone and a warm welcome to The Sett. Welcome to Hinckley AFC - Their players, the staff and the travelling supporters.

After three postponements in a row, we're excited to be back playing, but it's another tough test today. Hinckley AFC, like our last two opponents Newport Pagnell and Moulton will be looking to finish in the play offs at the end of the season. The league this year is tough to predict, it seems as if you don't perform on the day you will lose. So, let's hope it's our day today. Our home performances and results have been good, but we need more brilliant results like the point against Coventry and the win against Moulton to achieve what we need to do.

Thanks for your support as always! Up The Badgers!

Formed in 1929, Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club took over from Bugbrooke United who folded in 1928 after being in existence since 1910.

The club, which is named after the local St Michael’s and All Angels Church, initially took its place in the Northants Central Village League and had immense success, winning the league title from 1931 to 1937.

The club closed for the Second World War before reforming in 1947 and were once again successful, winning the CVL title from 1947 to 1950, and were Northants Lower Junior Cup runners-up in 1949, a feat repeated in 1954.

We finally won the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1956 and followed this in 1957 by winning the prestigious Daventry Charity Cup.

The club had its most successful years from 1966 to 1972 when we won the Northants Central Combination Premier title and again from 1976 to 1979 with 1977 also seeing us win the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup again.

The club continued to succeed in the Northants Combination until 1987 when we took the decision to join the United Counties League.

At this time, we decided to run two teams in the U C L and two teams in the C N C We also began our youth section and have continued this ever since Today we run 4 adult sides, including a recently formed Ladies team as well as 15 youth teams.

The club has continued to enjoy success across all age groups over those 30 years, the most notable being N.F.A Junior Cup winners in 1992, N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1993, and U C L Division One winners in 2001

The reputation for producing successful youth teams has increased over those years and 4 of our youth players (under 16) have been signed by professional league clubs

The achievements of the club on the field have always been supported by a hardworking committee whose chief officers are recorded on a roll in the clubhouse flyer They, along with the supporters of the club, have built up the excellent changing room sand clubhouse since 1980.

We hope that you enjoy the facilities that they have provided over those years, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

YAXLEY FOOTBALL CLUB TODAY’S VISITORS

The club was formed in 1900 with the forerunner of today’s club, Yaxley Rovers, being members of the first Peterborough League campaign contested during the 1902-03 season History up until the Second World War is not well documented and the first instance of a post-war championship came about in 1950-51 when the club won the Peterborough League Division Two Relegation was just around the corner though, and it was back in Division Three by the end of the 1950s

The Club has always played either in or on the fringes of the highest levels of local leagues which, over the years have been sponsored and known by many names such as Eastern Counties, Jewson, and Peterborough League The Cuckoo’s finished as runners-up three seasons in a row, the last of these being enough to see the club promoted to the Premier Division of the Peterborough League The club’s first taste of Premier Division football came at the start of the 1975-76 season and once again they finished runners-up The following season they went one better and won the Premier Division title

The 1983-84 season was a superb one with the first team winning the treble, the Peterborough Premier Division, the Peterborough Senior Cup and the Hunts Senior Cup, and the Reserves winning the Peterborough Division One Championship. The Cuckoos left the Peterborough League at the end of the 1987-88 season and made the step up to the Eastern League at the start of the following season.

1993-94 saw the purchase of the new ground and the facilities to step up to the United Counties League and the 1994-95 season was at that time, probably the most successful in its history. This was the debut season of the ill-fated West Anglian League (amalgamation of the Hunts & East Northants Leagues) and the first team won promotion to the United Counties League after winning the championship

The 2002-03 season saw plans unveiled for new facilities that were part of a five-year objective to take the club to a higher level Plans were also made to incorporate Yaxley Juniors and establish a new Ladies team to assist in creating a community orientated football club

The ’03-04, ‘04-05 and ‘05-06 seasons have to date been undoubtedly been the clubs most successful ever with the First, Reserve, Youth, Ladies and Junior teams all bringing home trophies including at senior level, the prestigious Hinchingbrooke Cup and the UCL League Cup in May 2006

Season 2008-09 saw the move to more temporary accommodation The following three seasons proved to be some of the toughest in the club’s history as against the pundit’s opinions; Gary Clipston pulled survival from the jaws of relegation

The 2012-13 season saw a total rebuild of the First Team and players under the management of former Cuckoos player and Reserve Team manager Brett Whaley (assisted by Chris Lenton) and the reinstatement of the clubs Reserve Team acting as a bridge between our flourishing U18s and First Team They finished mid-table and were joint winners (along with Royston Town) of The Hinchingbrooke Cup, the reserve team were runners up in the league and the league cup and the U18s were league champions and league cup winners (comprehensively beating AFC Rushden & Diamonds) All in all, not a bad season

2013-14 saw the dismantling of the Reserve Side due to a lack of bodies to manage the team to an acceptable level and a brand new U18s team coming up from U16s football – a very tough season ahead. The First Team finished sixth in the league table; a highly commendable result but the FA and League Cup competitions were massively disappointing although we probably created a couple of new records in the process.

2014-15 saw the Cuckoos enjoy a very good season with an excellent FA Vase run and a fourth position in the league. The 2015-16 saw a new era with new manager Ian Benjamin, an ex-professional with massive experience in semipro and non-league and a track record of promotion at Step 4 and 5 The biggest change for the club was the new 3G pitch that the club and the community have already benefited from enormously The club would like to place on public record its deep and sincere appreciation to all those silent partners who have made our dream for growth and sustainability a reality

In 2016-17 Brett Whaley returned following the departure of Ian Benjamin and showed his intent to take the Cuckoos to a higher level by strengthening the squad with some impressive experience whilst retaining the vast majority of the previous season’s players In addition to an impressive third place in the league we also won the UCL KO Cup beating Wisbech Town in a fiercely contested battle

In 2018/19 the Cuckoos looked to sustain their rise to Step 4 retaining the complete squad from the previous year whilst bolstering in a couple of areas The Reserve was led by Lloyd Burton At Step 4 we entered the Southern League Midland Division and had two seasons there, although because of the covid outbreak the second season was not completed but at the time the club was just above mid-table

2021-22 began another new chapter after the FA reshuffle saw the club moved laterally to the Northern Premier League Midlands Division, where we finished mid-table. 2022-23 was a season to forget as long-serving players moved on, Andy Furnell stepped down and other managerial appointments were unable to stop us from being relegated back to the UCL with just a single league win all season.

The 2024-25 started with a merger with Peterborough City and a new fresh approach to developing the Yaxley FC Youth Set-Up with Simon Roberts at the helm

The 2025-26 season started in troubled times, but Wilkins Makate and Ben Webster have done an exceptional job of steadying the 1st team ship With a fresh new committee now in place, full of enthusiasm and ideas of how to drive the club forwards, we can expect to see some better times ahead
