As Chairman of Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to The Sett and I hope that you have an enjoyable visit. Here at Bugbrooke St Michaels we are working hard to develop a club with a strong inclusive ethos, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. We are extremely proud of our youth development programme, supporting players from seven all the way up to eighteen. Many of our young players go on to have success with one of our adult teams, with some players going on to even bigger and better things! There is a great wealth of local support for the club, everyone that helps does so on a voluntary basis and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we have been able to achieve and maintain FA Accredited status.
Whilst some clubs choose to reinvest their revenue into players and wages, here at Bugbrooke we hold a different set of values. All of our profits go into upgrading our equipment and facilities, building a solid future-proof foundation that will be here for future generations to enjoy. Whilst this can sometimes hold us back from gaining huge success on the pitch, we feel our excellent facilities, youth development programme and ethos on community sets us apart from other clubs. Success and progression starts from the beginnings. Thank you for your support today, we hope that you enjoy the game, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

FEMALE FOOTBALL @ THE SETT #HERGAMETOO
THE WOMENS FA CUP. The Adobe Women’s FA Cup is the top annual cup tournament for women’s clubs in English football. Founded in 1970 and designed as the equivalent to the FA Cup in men’s football it played host to 71 teams. Today, in the 2025/26 season the competition has 538 entries, proof of the growth of the female game. We are proud to announce that Bugbrooke St Michaels ladies are again, in the 2025/26 Adobe Women’s FA Cup and will play host to Dunton & Broughton ladies at The Sett on 7th September with a 2pm KO. We would love as many of our youth teams to come on down to The Sett to cheer our ladies on and hopefully to secure their spot in the next round. More details to follow on our socials so keep a look out and come on down to The Sett to show your support. Good luck to our U13 Black, U13 White and U18's who kcik of their seasons on Saturday 6th September.

STEPH
Steph is our ladies development officer and secretary. She has been part of the club since 2021 bringing a youth team to join as U12's. Steph has made an incredible impact on the club and girls football since joining and now runs her own U13 Blacks Girls team. This season Steph was awarded with Clubman of the year for her contribution and hard work to the club. In her spare time Steph enjoys spending time with her family and is a dedicated Spurs supporter. She is also known for a bag for life after a heavy night out!
HAYLEY Hayley is our club youth secretary and welfare officer. Hayley has been in her role for just over a year and is a dedicated member of the committee here at Bugbrooke. Her passion for helping the club strive and supporting coaches within her roles are invaluable. In her spare time Hayley enjoys watching her son play within our U16's squad and supporting her daughter with her horse riding. She enjoys going out with her friends and walking her dog.
MANAGERS NOTES Afternoon & welcome to season 25/26 to all officials,committee,players,staff & fans at the badgers & every visting side that will vist the sett during the season & hope you enjoy the vist apart from the result at the end of 90 minutes. The football season seems to get earlier & earlier which leads to preseason getting more & more challenging as you trying to get the players fit & embedded into systems/styles of play but there always seems to be players away on holiday We’ve had lots of changes within the club in the last 8 months with new managers/coaches coming into club from 1st,reserves & the 18s so now people are in place we now hope this brings stability across the senior teams.

We’ve managed to keep 99% of last years squad together & the players that have decided to look at new pastures & we wish them well. We have added a few older heads that we thought the squad needed from last season & while we think we have recruited well we will never be happy like all managers with what we have. Looking at season ahead 1st target is getting enough points to retain status in a very tough league with some big teams with big support as we are only a village side,while the likes of Daventry,histon,March etc are big towns & then after that next target is to beat last season points & league position & then see what we can achieve. OUR HISTORY
BUGBROOKE ST MICHAELS FC Formed in 1929, Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club took over from Bugbrooke United who folded in 1928 after being in existence since 1910. The club, which is named after the local St Michael’s and All Angels Church, initially took its place in the Northants Central Village League and had immense success, winning the league title from 1931 to 1937. The club closed for the Second World War before reforming in 1947 and were once again successful, winning the CVL title from 1947 to 1950, and were Northants Lower Junior Cup runners-up in 1949, a feat repeated in 1954. We finally won the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1956 and followed this in 1957 by winning the prestigious Daventry Charity Cup. The club had its most successful years from 1966 to 1972 when we won the Northants Central Combination Premier title and again from 1976 to 1979 with 1977 also seeing us win the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup again. The club continued to succeed in the Northants Combination until 1987 when we took the decision to join the United Counties League.
At this time, we decided to run two teams in the U.C.L and two teams in the C.N.C. We also began our youth section and have continued this ever since. Today we run 4 adult sides, including a recently formed Ladies team as well as 15 youth teams. The club has continued to enjoy success across all age groups over those 30 years, the most notable being N.F.A Junior Cup winners in 1992, N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1993, and U.C.L Division One winners in 2001. The reputation for producing successful youth teams has increased over those years and 4 of our youth players (under 16) have been signed by professional league clubs The achievements of the club on the field have always been supported by a hardworking committee whose chief officers are recorded on a roll in the clubhouse flyer. They, along with the supporters of the club, have built up the excellent changing room sand clubhouse since 1980. We hope that you enjoy the facilities that they have provided over those years, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Cup Third Round); Record Attendance for away fixture 26,255 (January 17, 2006 v Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium, F.A. Cup Third Round Replay) Nuneaton Town/Borough Following the liquidation of Nuneaton Borough, a new club was formed and reverted back to the Nuneaton Town name. The club were demoted two divisions but gained promotion at the first attempt following a 1-0 play-off final victory over Chasetown at Liberty Way. For the 2009-10 season, Nuneaton found themselves in the Southern League Premier Division with several teams spending vast sums chasing promotion. After a slow start, the team went on a fantastic run that saw them beaten only once at home and included a run of 14 straight victories, narrowing a 24-point gap between the leaders Farnborough to just 2 points at the end of the season. Again, the play-offs beckoned and a 6-0 thrashing of bigspending Brackley Town in the semi-final saw home advantage given to Nuneaton who faced Chippenham. The final went into extra time and it was befitting that a local player, Eddie Nisevic, who had come through the ranks, got the winning goal returning Nuneaton to the Conference North. Nuneaton’s return to the Conference North for the 2010/11 saw them start well and remain in the top six up until Christmas, where they gained top spot until the last week in March. Eventually after other clubs played their games in hand, Nuneaton finished just outside of the play-offs. Fortune smiled on The Boro when the club above them, Eastwood Town, were prevented from taking part in the play-offs due to a technical problem. Nuneaton faced AFC Telford Utd in the Play Off Semi-Finals but went down 2-1 on aggregate. The 2011/12 season was to see Nuneaton gain promotion back to the Conference Premier for the first time in 10 years. After maintaining a high league position throughout the season Boro' were dealt a blow as the season entered its final few weeks when an administration error led to a 6 point deduction. This seemed to spur the team on and a final day 3-2 victory at Blyth Spartans ensured their play-off place. A superb semi-final 2nd leg victory over Guiseley, with a goal from Andy Brown in the last minute of extra time, meant that Boro had to travel to Gainsborough Trinity for the Play–Off Final. Again Brown was the goal hero in a game that saw Boro claim a 1-0 victory amid wild scenes of delight amongst the travelling supporters. The 2012/13 season saw Boro pitting their wits against the country's non-league elite. Up against many full-time clubs, it took a while to get to grips with their new environment but Boro's team spirit and work ethic never wavered. Despite spending much of the season in and around the relegation zone a terrific run towards the end of the season saw Boro finish in 15th place. The 2013/14 season surpassed all expectations with Boro leading the table early on and featuring in and around the play-off positions for most of the season. After manager Kevin Wilkin left for Wrexham, results tailed off in the last month or so of the season but they still finished in 13th position. A new manager, Brian Reid, was appointed and oversaw the last 3 games of the season.

Season 2014/15 marked the Club's 125th Anniversary. However, Boro made a poor start and this resulted in Brian Reid being replaced as manager by Liam Daish. Despite the managerial change Boro was in the relegation zone for most of the season and finally finished bottom of the table. Liam Daish parted company with the Club at the end of the season and was replaced by Kevin Wilson shortly afterwards. In season 2015/16 Kevin Wilson was joined by former Forest favourite Steve Chettle as the club looked to bounce back at the first attempt. A 3-point deduction cost them a place in the play-offs as they finished 6th. In season 2016/17, after a difficult start, Kevin Wilson left the club and was replaced as manager by Tommy Wright. A nine-match unbeaten run helped them to league safety. Season 2017/18 saw Boro again struggling at the wrong end of the table when, in October, manager Tommy Wright quit the club to take over at Darlington. He was replaced by Dino Maamria, who turned the teams fortunes around, guiding them to mid-table safety. This remarkable turnaround earned him a move into league football when he was appointed as manager of Stevenage in March 2018. Gary Charles took charge for the remainder of the season with Boro finishing in 13th place. Season 2018/19 saw the club revert to their former name Nuneaton Borough. Nicky Eaden was installed as manager. However, the Club was in turmoil off the pitch and almost went out of existence. Two seasons were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic before a return to normal in season 2021/22. Boro had a tough season and found themselves at the wrong end of the table for most of the campaign. The threat of relegation hung over them until just before the last game of the season when they won 1-0 to secure a 16th-place finish. In Season 2022/23 Boro challenged at the right end of the table and earned a play-off place. They hosted Rushall Olympic in the Play-Off Final in front of a crowd of over 3,500. After the game ended goalless Boro went down 4-3 on penalties. Season 2023/24 - Disaster struck for Boro in January 2024 when years of financial difficulties came to a head and forced the club to withdraw from the Southern League. The club’s demise signalled the end of an era for Nuneaton Borough FC. Prior to the 2024-25 season a new club was formed by Supporters' groups and local businessmen and Nuneaton Town FC was elected the Midland Football League Division One. The club is playing 'home' games at the Oval in Bedworth, but the focus of the new club is to secure playing facilities within the town of Nuneaton. The new club gained immediate success in its first season, winning the championship the Midland Football League Division 1.
