WELCOME TO FROM THE CHAIRMAN... FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

THE SETT

As Chairman of Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to The Sett and I hope that you have an enjoyable visit.

Here at Bugbrooke St Michaels we are working hard to develop a club with a strong inclusive ethos, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

We are extremely proud of our youth development programme, supporting players from seven all the way up to eighteen. Many of our young players go on to have success with one of our adult teams, with some players going on to even bigger and better things!

There is a great wealth of local support for the club, everyone that helps does so on a voluntary basis and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we have been able to achieve and maintain FA Accredited status.

Whilst some clubs choose to reinvest their revenue into players and wages, here at Bugbrooke we hold a different set of values. All of our profits go into upgrading our equipment and facilities, building a solid future-proof foundation that will be here for future generations to enjoy.

Whilst this can sometimes hold us back from gaining huge success on the pitch, we feel our excellent facilities, youth development programme and ethos on community sets us apart from other clubs.

Success and progression starts from the beginnings.

Thank you for your support today, we hope that you enjoy the game, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bugbroooke St Michaels Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to our team of volunteers, our advertisers and sponsors.

STEPH HAYLEY TEAM! MEET THE MEET THE

Steph is our ladies development officer and secretary. She has been part of the club since 2021 bringing a youth team to join as U12's. Steph has made an incredible impact on the club and girls football since joining and now runs her own U13 Blacks Girls team. This season Steph was awarded with Clubman of the year for her contribution and hard work to the club. In her spare time Steph enjoys spending time with her family and is a dedicated Spurs supporter. She is also known for a bag for life after a heavy night out!

Hayley is our club youth secretary and welfare officer. Hayley has been in her role for just over a year and is a dedicated member of the committee here at Bugbrooke. Her passion for helping the club strive and supporting coaches within her roles are invaluable.

In her spare time Hayley enjoys watching her son play within our U16's squad and supporting her daughter with her horse riding. She enjoys going out with her friends and walking her dog.

NOTES MMANAGERS ANAGERS

Afternoon & welcome to season 25/26 to all officials, committee, players, staff & fans at the badgers & every visting side that will vist the sett during the season & hope you enjoy the vist apart from the result at the end of 90 minutes.

The football season seems to get earlier & earlier which leads to preseason getting more & more challenging as you trying to get the players fit & embedded into systems/styles of play but there always seems to be players away on holiday

We’ve had lots of changes within the club in the last 8 months with new managers/coaches coming into club from 1st,reserves & the 18s so now people are in place we now hope this brings stability across the senior teams

SCOTT CARLIN SCOTT CARLIN

We’ve managed to keep 99% of last years squad together & the players that have decided to look at new pastures & we wish them well.

We have added a few older heads that we thought the squad needed from last season & while we think we have recruited well we will never be happy like all managers with what we have

Looking at season ahead 1st target is getting enough points to retain status in a very tough league with some big teams with big support as we are only a village side, while the likes of Daventry, histon,March etc are big towns & then after that next target is to beat last season points & league position & then see what we can achieve.

Hope you all enjoy the season Up the badgers

Formed in 1929, Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club took over from Bugbrooke United who folded in 1928 after being in existence since 1910.

The club, which is named after the local St Michael’s and All Angels Church, initially took its place in the Northants Central Village League and had immense success, winning the league title from 1931 to 1937.

The club closed for the Second World War before reforming in 1947 and were once again successful, winning the CVL title from 1947 to 1950, and were Northants Lower Junior Cup runners-up in 1949, a feat repeated in 1954.

We finally won the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1956 and followed this in 1957 by winning the prestigious Daventry Charity Cup.

The club had its most successful years from 1966 to 1972 when we won the Northants Central Combination Premier title and again from 1976 to 1979 with 1977 also seeing us win the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup again.

The club continued to succeed in the Northants Combination until 1987 when we took the decision to join the United Counties League.

At this time, we decided to run two teams in the U C L and two teams in the C N C We also began our youth section and have continued this ever since Today we run 4 adult sides, including a recently formed Ladies team as well as 15 youth teams.

The club has continued to enjoy success across all age groups over those 30 years, the most notable being N.F.A Junior Cup winners in 1992, N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1993, and U C L Division One winners in 2001

The reputation for producing successful youth teams has increased over those years and 4 of our youth players (under 16) have been signed by professional league clubs

The achievements of the club on the field have always been supported by a hardworking committee whose chief officers are recorded on a roll in the clubhouse flyer They, along with the supporters of the club, have built up the excellent changing room sand clubhouse since 1980.

We hope that you enjoy the facilities that they have provided over those years, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

BELPER UNITED TODAY’S VISITORS

A Belper United was established around 1908. By the early 1980s the club was playing in the East Midlands Regional League This became the Midlands Regional Alliance in 1985, and Belper were its first Premier Division champions in 1985/86 They won the league’s Challenge Cup in 1992/93, before securing a second Premier Division title in 1994/95 and another Challenge Cup the following season. They were later relegated to Division One, which they won in the 2004/05 season to earn promotion back to the Premier Division

Despite finishing bottom of the Premier Division in 2008/09, Belper were not relegated to Division One. In 2010 they switched to the South Division of the Central Midlands League. In 2014/15 they won the Central Midlands League Floodlight Cup, beating Clay Cross Town 3-2 in the final. After finishing as runners-up in the South Division in 2015/16, the club were promoted to the East Midlands Counties League In 2021 the club was moved sideways in to the United Counties League Division One In 2022 the club won the play-offs to gain promotion to step 5 and the United Counties Premier Division North, and maintained this status with a solid mid table position in the 2023/24 season.

During the 2022/23/24 seasons the club expanded significantly with the introduction of a new reserves/ development team playing at step 8, plus the introduction of 10 new junior teams ranging from U7 to U18 age groups.

Alongside this they continue to have a thriving academy for U6 players wanting to get in to junior football and develop the ongoing regeneration of the club

From the 2023/24 season Belper United play their home matches at Coronation Park, Chewton Street, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire NG16 3HB via a ground share agreement with Eastwood CFC

The club continues to work on a strategy to secure its own ground facility in the Belper area in partnership with AVBC, Derbyshire FA, The Football Foundation and local land owners/ developers - "Back to Belper”.
