WELCOME TO FROM THE CHAIRMAN... FROM THE CHAIRMAN...

THE SETT

As Chairman of Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club, I would like to offer you a warm welcome to The Sett and I hope that you have an enjoyable visit.

Here at Bugbrooke St Michaels we are working hard to develop a club with a strong inclusive ethos, offering opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.

We are extremely proud of our youth development programme, supporting players from seven all the way up to eighteen. Many of our young players go on to have success with one of our adult teams, with some players going on to even bigger and better things!

There is a great wealth of local support for the club, everyone that helps does so on a voluntary basis and through everyone’s hard work and dedication we have been able to achieve and maintain FA Accredited status.

Whilst some clubs choose to reinvest their revenue into players and wages, here at Bugbrooke we hold a different set of values. All of our profits go into upgrading our equipment and facilities, building a solid future-proof foundation that will be here for future generations to enjoy.

Whilst this can sometimes hold us back from gaining huge success on the pitch, we feel our excellent facilities, youth development programme and ethos on community sets us apart from other clubs.

Success and progression starts from the beginnings.

Thank you for your support today, we hope that you enjoy the game, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Bugbroooke St Michaels Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to our team of volunteers, our advertisers and sponsors.

##HERGAMETOO HERGAMETOO @ THE SETT

Bugbrooke U18 Girls were formed last year and were successful in their first season competing in Div 1 of the Bedfordshire FA Girls Football League. They finished 3rd and were the only team to beat Real Bedford – in their final league game of the season – as well as reaching the League Cup Final – losing to Real Bedford!

Despite losing 15 players at the end of last season, mostly due to players becoming too old, the squad is still 18 strong and has started the season impressively They have won all four of their matches so far, and currently sit top of Div 1 of the newly formed Northants Women’s & Girls Football League.

Coaches James Geddes and Bob Lane work closely with Ladies team coaches (Stuart White and Alex DeBoer) to ensure that the team also provides a pathway into Women’s football A number of players have made the step up over the last 12 months and the aim is to have more players joining the Ladies squad during the current season. The team is supported by Physio Kayleigh Brocklehurst who also plays for the Ladies team

New sponsors Halo Security and GA Photography have generously agreed to provide new kit, training tops and hoodies so the girls will soon look as impressive off the pitch as they do on it!

New players are always welcome regardless of their experience or ability especially as the team will lose another 9 players at the end of this season. For now though, the aim is to keep improving, stay top of the league and hopefully go one step further in one of the 3 Cup Competitions that the team are involved in!

NEWS! ##BADGER BADGER @ THE SETT

Huge shoutout to our U16 goalkeeper Patrick who this week has been sponsored for goalkeeper gloves by a company called Just 4 Keepers (J4K)

In exchange for wearing their gloves, Patrick has agreed to post on social media and show them in action!

Patrick also now has access to different resources to help improve his game and an online forum where he can watch videos on the different aspects of goalkeeping, gain the opinions and input from other keepers and get individual help and support from the business owner, Ray Newland.

Ray was a professional goalkeeper who played for, amongst other teams, Everton.

This is fantastic for Patrick, who at just 15 years old, has already made his debut for our U18’s this season which includes a debut in the FA Youth Cup! He is a valued part of the squad and the future is looking bright for our young Badger!

As part of the U16’s squad he is a well respected and an invaluable part of the team! Where would we be without our number 1!

Best of luck to Patrick and both the U16’s and U18’s squads this season!

STEPH HAYLEY TEAM! MEET THE MEET THE

Steph is our ladies development officer and secretary. She has been part of the club since 2021 bringing a youth team to join as U12's. Steph has made an incredible impact on the club and girls football since joining and now runs her own U13 Blacks Girls team. This season Steph was awarded with Clubman of the year for her contribution and hard work to the club. In her spare time Steph enjoys spending time with her family and is a dedicated Spurs supporter. She is also known for a bag for life after a heavy night out!

Hayley is our club youth secretary and welfare officer. Hayley has been in her role for just over a year and is a dedicated member of the committee here at Bugbrooke. Her passion for helping the club strive and supporting coaches within her roles are invaluable.

In her spare time Hayley enjoys watching her son play within our U16's squad and supporting her daughter with her horse riding. She enjoys going out with her friends and walking her dog.

NOTES MMANAGERS ANAGERS

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to The Sett on FA Vase day!

A warm welcome to the players, staff, and coach load of supporters from Atherstone. –Atherstone like Coventry united last week are a well-organised, experienced side that will want to end in the play offs this season, they also boost our divisions top scorer. Another fixture we into as underdogs but theres a real belief in our group now and with cup football anything can happen.

CALVIN GREEN CALVIN GREEN

I was away for last weeks draw against Coventry, so thanks to Dale, Lee and Joel for taking the reigns. We set out with a plan to frustrate them, be ruthless in both boxes, unfortunately we didnt the chances when they came. Even so it was a brilliant point in our quest to climb the table.

I'm hoping come 5pm today the wembley dream is still alive!

Enjoy the game and let’s get behind the lads! Up the badgers!

Formed in 1929, Bugbrooke St Michaels Football Club took over from Bugbrooke United who folded in 1928 after being in existence since 1910.

The club, which is named after the local St Michael’s and All Angels Church, initially took its place in the Northants Central Village League and had immense success, winning the league title from 1931 to 1937.

The club closed for the Second World War before reforming in 1947 and were once again successful, winning the CVL title from 1947 to 1950, and were Northants Lower Junior Cup runners-up in 1949, a feat repeated in 1954.

We finally won the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1956 and followed this in 1957 by winning the prestigious Daventry Charity Cup.

The club had its most successful years from 1966 to 1972 when we won the Northants Central Combination Premier title and again from 1976 to 1979 with 1977 also seeing us win the N.F.A Lower Junior Cup again.

The club continued to succeed in the Northants Combination until 1987 when we took the decision to join the United Counties League.

At this time, we decided to run two teams in the U C L and two teams in the C N C We also began our youth section and have continued this ever since Today we run 4 adult sides, including a recently formed Ladies team as well as 15 youth teams.

The club has continued to enjoy success across all age groups over those 30 years, the most notable being N.F.A Junior Cup winners in 1992, N.F.A Lower Junior Cup in 1993, and U C L Division One winners in 2001

The reputation for producing successful youth teams has increased over those years and 4 of our youth players (under 16) have been signed by professional league clubs

The achievements of the club on the field have always been supported by a hardworking committee whose chief officers are recorded on a roll in the clubhouse flyer They, along with the supporters of the club, have built up the excellent changing room sand clubhouse since 1980.

We hope that you enjoy the facilities that they have provided over those years, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
