Buffalo Prep’s Celebration of Achievement event presented by M&T Bank, honors Buffalo Prep’s graduating high school scholars as well as its steadfast and loyal supporters in the community.

We are very excited as we prepare to launch our virtual Celebration of Achievement on May 13 at 5pm! Make sure to tune into our Facebook and Instagram pages to follow along for 51 hours as we honor our 51 AMAZING Buffalo Prep seniors!

This isn’t how we usually celebrate our scholars for their many years of hard work and dedication to an excellent academic career, but we are hopeful that this virtual event will showcase our immense pride in our students as they prepare to graduate from high school and head off to college!

MESSAGE FROM BUFFALO PREP As we come together through a Virtual Celebration to recognize the remarkable academic careers, accomplishments and perseverance of Buffalo Prep’s graduating seniors, we are thankful for the generosity and endorsement of our philanthropic and community partners.

We realize that various industries have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, creating uncertainty on many levels. Throughout all the chaos and trepidation surrounding the global crisis, the steadfast support of our sponsors has been a tremendous relief for our organization.

Amid this pandemic, inequities in education have risen to the forefront, calling for an even more urgent focus on these issues. With the additional resources necessary to transition to a distance learning model and in order to ensure instructional equity, critical support for Buffalo Prep is needed now more than ever.

Our commitment to being a leading force in closing the access and opportunity gap for students is stronger than ever. We couldn’t do this work without our valuable partners. We thank you for your continued support and dedication to our students and mission.

We are incredibly proud of how our seniors have persevered through this historic time. We have no doubt that our graduates will rise to the challenges they face as they set off on their college careers. The AAF Buffalo Future Marketer Scholarship The American Advertising Federation Buffalo Board of Directors is proud to present the Future Marketer Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating Buffalo Prep student who is planning to study communications, advertising or marketing in college. AAF Buffalo is committed to working with Buffalo Prep to help grow the next generation of talent in the advertising and marketing industry.

The Hodgson Russ LLP Diversity Scholarship For over five years, Hodgson Russ LLP has supported the Buffalo Prep scholars. We are pleased tonight to announce the Hodgson Russ Diversity Scholarship winner. In connection with Hodgson Russ LLP’s commitment to diversity in our community and in the legal profession, the Hodgson Russ Diversity Scholarship is awarded annually to one Buffalo Prep college-bound senior with an interest in a law-related career. Hodgson Russ congratulates all of the scholarship applicants for their excellent records of personal and academic achievement.

National Fuel Gas Company Foundation Scholarship As part of National Fuel Gas Company Foundation’s commitment to recruiting high-quality candidates from across Western New York interested in working within the energy sector, and in keeping with the effort to increase the number of diverse candidates considering careers in IT (programming, cyber security, software engineer, etc.), Business Administration or Engineering, National Fuel is pleased to award a $15,000 scholarship per year for a total of four years to college-bound seniors graduating from Buffalo Prep. National Fuel congratulates all of the Scholars for their for dedication and excellence.

Alpha Kappa Boulé Scholarship Alpha Kappa Boulé was organized by Archon Anthony T. Gillam, who had been a member of Pi Boulé in Little Rock, Arkansas. He and his wife, Valerie Gillam, hosted the chartering ceremony in their home in Buffalo, New York, where they were joined by George Redd, Ennis L. Powell, Russell F. Minton, and C.M. Roulhac, Sr. The Boulé experienced slow growth until 1981 when 13 new members were inducted. In 1983, Alpha Kappa hosted the Northeast Regional Boulé in Buffalo. Acting on a study conducted by an Alpha Kappa committee, which concluded there was a pressing need for higher education among the underprivileged of Buffalo, the Boulé established The Alpha Kappa Boulé Education Foundation (TAKBEF) in 1976. Over the past 25 years the Foundation has given more than $250,000 in scholarships to more than 200 students. The program’s success is largely credited to the leadership provided by the chairman, the late Archon A. Clifford Brown, who managed the program from its inception. Alpha Kappa Boulé is proud to continue this legacy by supporting the Buffalo Prep Scholars.

Whether it be community college, trade school, university, entrepreneurship or military service, you will be challenged to exercise Buffalo Prep’s Core Four Values: integrity, responsibility, leadership, and excellence. Strive to do the best in all that you do because “mediocrity is unacceptable.”

As you know, life will not always be fair. Throughout your journey, we hope that you will fall back on the things you learned at Buffalo Prep. There will be many opportunities to quit, but in those moments remember that “you have superpowers,” and you will persevere when life presents its challenges.
