ctober 2018 was a historical year for the Canadian Cannabis industry and enthusiasts as cannabis was

finally legalized and it was that very same year that Cannabis Comedy Festival was born.

Created by two friends Ronen Geisler and Ryan Hillis we are both stand up comedians and producers who met at the roast of famous Jamaican singer / movie star Louie Rankin.

We instantly became friends and realized we would be a great team to produce shows together. Our first venture was a Canadian themed comedy festival called Beaver and Bacon showcasing Canadian talent and as a platform for up and coming Canadian comedians.

The first two years were a huge success with a sold out gala show featuring Kenny and Spenny from the hit show Kenny vs. Spenny. As well as another event hosted by everyones favourite dirty sock puppet Ed the Sock. When legalization was announced we decided to switch it up and embark in the cannabis industry with a cannabis themed comedy festival.

Q: What inspired both of you to enter the cannabis industry, and how did you decide to collaborate on business ventures together?

Jonathan: Ever since my early teens, I've been in a 'committed relationship' with cannabis.

To me, it's been everything from medicine to party buddy! This stuff's got more buzz than a bee's knees! So, I thought, why not take the plunge and date professionally? Now, I'm not just participating in the culture, I'm developing the culture.

Greg: See, cannabis, and I go way back. Ever since I was a sprout, I've been in the weedselling game - it's my bread and butter! Now, I've swapped back alleys for boardrooms, but the leafy love affair continues. Simply put, I'm a guy with a green thumb and an even greener heart!

With our talents combined, we knew we'd be an unstoppable force for any company.

So, I kicked things off at Mear Cannabis, and soon realized Don Chrons' knack for flipping packs was a golden ticket. Together, we started shaking up the scene - introducing Canada's

The journey has led us to stay overnight in some rather... interesting locales, to put it mildly. But it's the strength of our friendship and shared love for cannabis that's always seen us through even the most taxing times.

Greg: So, we're not exactly co-workers in the cannabis biz anymore, but we're still two buds united in a high mission – breaking the stigma that still exists in the Canadian cannabis scene.

We're talking bigger, better, greener stuff here, folks! For now though, we're just planning to light up some park hangs, all in the name of making cannabis as normal as maple syrup and politely queuing.

Q: What motivated both of you to enter the cannabis industry, and how did you navigate the challenges and opportunities together?

Greg: Since junior high, cannabis has been my thing. When it got legalized, it just clicked.

Jonathan: For me, it was a seamless shift too.

Jonathan: Oh, it's quite simple, really. Do you know the saying 'Don't mix business with pleasure'? Well, we take that advice with a pinch of salt. When a work disagreement sparks up, we just light up a joint, inhale deeply, and say 'Let's take a high road on this one!'

Q: Can you share any lessons or insights you have gained from each other that have been instrumental in your success within the Canadian cannabis market?

But our mutual passion for pot has always been our seatbelt, keeping us buckled in. When things go haywire, we don't panic, we just pass the dab rig, inhale, and say 'Screw it, let's get higher than our problems!'

Q: How do you balance your personal friendship with the professional dynamics of running a business in the cannabis industry?

Jonathan: Well, we've really mastered the art of the 'chill.' When dealing with the ups and downs of the Canadian cannabis market, we've found the secret sauce: just sprinkle a little bit of patience, stir in a big helping of resilience.

Q: In what ways has your friendship influenced the culture and values of your respective companies operating in the Canadian cannabis market?

Greg: Ah, Jonathan and I - we're like the Jay and Silent Bob of the Canadian cannabis market!

Our friendship has essentially created a 'buddysystem' culture in our companies. There's no problem too big that can't be solved with a bit of brainstorming, a sprinkle of innovation, and of course, a shared joint to keep the creative juices flowing.

FENI: India itself is blowing up with musical talent across the board. As Indian HipHop is growing and is still very community based, I have a deeper sense of gratitude for the pioneers of Indian Hiphop and alot of young artists still pushing the underground culture & music so it reaches larger audiences within the community itself. Being the only Indian Canadian Female Rapper I feel its important for me to become the bridge for artists from India & Canada. To merge sounds and create a unique experience for listeners.

FENI: I was fortunate to have connected with the right people during my visit who motivated me into the right direction for my music.

FENI: Upcoming projects are going to be so different than my past. I like bringing new energy with each song I present. My trip to India taught me the value in letting music come to you naturally. As you are suppose to also have fun with music and not always be about proving a point or asking for respect based on accolades.
