A FINE AND VERY WELL PRESERVED COPY. A charming edition of the Peter Pan story. The illustrations are in style somewhat typical of English style during the first decades of the 1900’s. In addition to the color plates, many illustrations are scattered throughout the text, sometimes whimsically so. This is an exceptional copy in that it retains the pictorial dustjacket, something that rarely happens with a children’s book as decorative as this.

the lower portion of the spine, blue end-leaves, pastedown for note-taking to one. SCARCE FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF THE SEMINAL WORKS ON THE EXPLORATION OF THE NILE SOURCES. In this volume Baker traces his discovery of the sources of the lower Nile in the Atbara River and the Blue Nile in Abyssinia. Also of interest is the fact that Sir Baker went on these expeditions with his wife. Mrs. Baker should be considered an accomplished explorer in her own right. She shared in all of the hardships and dangers 19th Century exploration had to offer and her contributions to the expeditions are well documented.
