SUMMER CAMP CATALOG | 2026
Join us this summer at BCA Studios and work closely with professional teaching artists for a fun-filled week of in-depth studio arts experience. Every camp includes art materials and a final showing of work. Need a longer camp day? Join Aftercare from 3-5 pm for an extended camp experience, which features sketchbook time, visits to Pine Street hot spots, and other fun art activities.
NEW! BCA now offers a full-day camp option for ages 6-8 and 9-11. Each full-day session combines two complementary half-day camps, giving campers the chance to explore multiple interests while parents enjoy the ease of simplified registration, drop-off, and pick-up. Half-day camps remain available for ages 6-17.
REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION OPENS: Wednesday, February 4 at Noon Please create an account or locate your login in advance of registration. Add children to your account and complete all required fields including emergency contacts. BCA camps serve ages 6-17. Your child must be of eligible age by the first day of the camp in which they are enrolling. Our database will reflect program eligibility. At the time of registration, you must select your child’s name for enrollment. Once registration opens, you will be able to add camps to your cart. Your shopping cart will hold a spot for 15 minutes.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Burlington City Arts strives to make arts education accessible to all. Full and partial scholarships are available to anyone regardless of ability to pay. Scholarship applications should be submitted between January 14-25. Scholarships submitted after January 25 will be reviewed on a rolling basis and subject to availability at that time. Please submit a scholarship application online at: burlingtoncityarts.org/form/apply-for-a-youth scholarship or call (802) 865-7554 to request an application. Your scholarship form is your registration. BCA’s Education Director is usually able to process scholarship applications within two weeks and will be in touch as soon as your application is approved.
WAITLISTS
BCA camps may fill quickly! If your desired camp fills up, we encourage you to join the waitlist. Once a spot becomes available, you will be sent a notification via email with a unique link to register. This link will stay active for 24 hours. Once that time has lapsed, we will notify the next name on the waitlist. Check your waitlist status by logging into your Civic Rec account.
LOCATION
BCA camps are located at BCA Studios, 405 Pine Street in Burlington. Many BCA camps feature chaperoned walking field trips to the South End and downtown areas like the BCA Center gallery, the Church Street Marketplace, and the Waterfront.
REFUNDS
Refunds can only be given if the request is made at least two weeks prior to the beginning of the camp. 15% of your registration fee is non-refundable. After the two-week window, a class credit will be processed at the discretion of the Education Director. Class credits are non-refundable. A full refund will be given if BCA has to cancel a camp.

CLAY CREATIONS
Join us for a week of working with clay in the BCA ceramics studio. Create bowls, cups, sculptures, and more through wheel throwing and hand building techniques. Learn surface design and decorating tips to make each piece one-of-a-kind. Finished pottery will be available 4-6 weeks after the end of camp. All items will be dishwasher-safe and lead-free.
AGES 6-8 Join us for a week of hands-on play in our clay studio! In this project-based camp, students will learn fun and functional art through handbuilding methods including pinch, coil, and slab, and have an opportunity to try their hand at the wheel. Using stamps, textures, and colorful underglazes, they’ll add decorative techniques that make their creations unique. Finished pottery will be available 4-6 weeks after the end of camp. All items will be dishwasher-safe and lead-free.

SCREENPRINT
PRINTMAKING
Take your favorite drawings, photos, and designs and print them onto t-shirts, bags, posters, and more! Working in BCA’s print studio, students learn to apply photo emulsion, use a silkscreen exposure unit, and print images using water-based inks. At the end of the week, students will have an array of printed items to wear or share. BCA provides one t-shirt or tote bag and poster paper. Students are invited to bring a limited number of other surfaces to print on as well.

AGES 6-8 Learn all about printmaking as a way to make exciting new art. In BCA’s print studio, campers will learn different techniques such as carving foam stamps and monoprinting using professional tools. Campers will create a variety of one-of-a-kind prints on tote bags, cards, and posters they will be excited to show off.

DRAWING & PAINTING DRAWING & PAINTING AGES 6-8, 9-11 Work in BCA’s drawing and painting studio, experimenting with professional mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, and charcoal. Students will be encouraged to develop individual projects based on their interests, all while learning new techniques.
CARTOONS & COMICS AGES 9-11 Learn design and drawing tricks to take your comics and cartoons to the next level. Become inspired by
a variety of illustrators and styles as you discover how to enhance your work by learning about layouts, lettering, and figure drawing techniques. By week’s end, your characters and stories will leap off the page in stylized, original comic strips.
DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS AGES 12-17 Explore 2D artistic techniques including charcoal, perspective, and monoprint while pursuing your own creative interests. Acquire new skills and develop a deeper understanding of the fundamentals as you work on self-directed projects that reflect your personal artistic vision.

Learn the art of weaving! Construct your own cardboard looms, interlacing yarns, threads, and fibers. Learn to warp and weft, playing with color, texture, and pattern as you transform individual strands into beautiful woven projects.
AGES 6-8 Make a stuffed animal or creature of your choice! Campers learn basic sewing techniques and use simple patterns to cut and create their own stuffies out of various sewing materials, including cotton, rickrack, yarn, ribbon, buttons, puffy fabric paint, and more. By the end of the week, campers will have a new handmade toy and skills they can be proud of.

MACRA-WEAVING AGES 12-17 Explore the world of textile crafting through macrame! Learn essential knot-tying techniques, transform colorful cords into textured tapestries, and experiment with patterns to create handmade macrame creations that add warmth to any space.
PHOTOGRAPHY PHOTO COLLAGE AGES 6-8 Experience BCA’s photography lab. Instant print photos, nature prints, found imagery, and cameraless photographic prints called photograms become the base for creating unique collages. Create landscapes, portraits, or silly abstract concepts and use other mixed media supplies to embellish your creations.
DARKROOM PHOTO AGES 9-11, 12-17 Experience the magic of a traditional photographic darkroom! Equipped with manual 35mm SLR film cameras, campers explore the South End and downtown Burlington on guided photo walks, learning to see the world through an analog lens. In BCA’s darkroom lab, discover the magic of film development and printing as you bring your images to life in black and white.
DIGITAL PHOTO AGES 9-11, 12-17 Learn the fundamentals of digital photography. Explore the vibrant South End of Burlington on guided photo walks, discovering how to capture compelling images with DSLR cameras. Back in our digital lab, dive into the technical side— mastering camera controls,
learning professional image editing software, and experimenting with printing techniques.
LEGO ANIMATION AGES 9-11 Bring your favorite Lego characters to life with stop-motion animation! Write original stories, build custom sets, and animate frame-by-frame to create your own short films. Learn the fundamentals of storytelling, cinematography, and post-production editing. Showcase your animations in a final screening and leave with a flash drive containing your work. Bring your own Legos and favorite small toys or use ours!
ZINE MAKING AGES 12-17 Create your own photography zine from concept to finished product. Explore Burlington on guided photo walks, capturing images that reflect your interests. Learn to curate and sequence your best shots and use Adobe Photoshop to edit photos, design layouts, add text, and learn printing and hand-binding techniques to create a cohesive, physical printed product. Build your skills as a photographer and artist, and the technical knowledge to keep creating.

Create one-of-a-kind t-shirts using a variety of construction methods such as appliqué, embroidery, fabric dying, printing, and upcycling of old clothes. Learn basic hand sewing techniques and take turns on the sewing machine. All materials are provided, but campers are also invited to bring in old t-shirts that they want to reinvent.

AGES 6-8 Shrink down with us and come create small, wonderful worlds. Together we’ll explore a variety of craft media to create tiny, intricate terrariums, doll houses, fairy worlds, and more.
COLLAGE AGES 9-11, 12-17 Tear, layer, paint, and print as we transform paper clippings, fabric scraps, and found objects into stunning collages bursting with color and texture. Through handson exploration of color theory, composition, and mixed materials, experiment and develop your own distinctive artistic style.
DIY CRAFTS & ACCESSORIES AGES 9-11 Explore fun art-making techniques such as hand-printing, polymer clay jewelry-making, fabric dying, and upcycling to design unique, usable works of art. Discover the art of metalsmithing! Students will learn fundamental techniques including sawing, filing, soldering, and finishing to create their own unique pieces of fine metal jewelry. Explore design concepts, work with professional tools, and develop skills in craftsmanship to bring their creative visions to life. Whether crafting a pendant, ring, or earrings, each participant will leave with finished pieces of wearable art and newfound confidence.
AGES 6-8, 9-11 Paper beads, glass beads, clay beads, and more! Learn how to make jewelry with different kinds of materials. Campers learn how to attach clasps, use beading tools, and make their own beads and pendants. By the end of the week, campers will have earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and more to share or keep.
