Hello and Happy Summer! We sincerely hope everyone had a great spring season, end of the school year and are ready for the warm summer nights. We have lots of fun times ahead for you and your family this summer and we hope you take full advantage of all recreation opportunities.
As always, thank you for your continued support to the BTPD. We are excited for the many great recreation opportunities you will experience this summer! Inside this brochure you will find many recreation opportunities such as Family Night Out, Summer Camp, Summer Concert Series, Makers Market, and many other youth, adult, senior, and family programs and events. We promise your family will enjoy all our recreation activities.
Since our last brochure, we’ve been busy with new various park improvements, creating new programing and further developing our recreation quality of life. Our hard working staff accomplished various great successes. Our recreation team saw continued success in program and events such as Chocolate Tour, Youth Basketball League, Preschool and various trips and events. Our maintenance team worked on a variety of in- house projects including a prairie burn and removal of invasive trees at Perry Farm Park, pond stocking, building dog park agility equipment, and park bench replacements. The administration and Park Board team have continued working within the Perry Farm Park Master Plan and are planning smaller projects such as, outdoor fitness stations and facility improvements for the Exploration Station. One of those Exploration Station improvements is our new Storybook Forest experience. This summer new adventure awaits inside our Peter Pan’s Neverland Tree, Peter Rabbit Toddler Area, Hundred Acre Wood Library, Alice’s Wonderland Tea Party and Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest. Don’t miss this fully immersive experience designed to ignite your child’s imagination and foster
a lifelong love of imagination and fairytales.
For the final time, please view our Recreation Needs Assessment Survey, so that we can make the most informed future decisions. This is an important survey that will help us assist you in providing quality recreation experiences. This survey will strictly focus on recreation needs, including programs, events and more. Additionally, we want to learn from you what is working that we can further develop, what is not working, new types of programs or events to focus on. Overall, the purpose is to learn from your household feedback on what types of recreation opportunities and improvement you may or may not like to see. You can find the QR Code to the survey on Page 11. Please be honest, respectful, provide true feedback and thank you in advance for your time.
Again, thank you for your continued support of the BTPD and if you ever have a question or comment, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you again and Go Bourbonnais Township Park District!

The Exploration Station opened its doors on July 28, 1990 through the efforts of a core of dedicated and inspired volunteers. Late in 1987, Marilyn O’Flaherty, a retired Bradley art teacher, presented the concept of a hands-on exploration and discovery museum for children to the Bourbonnais Township Park District. The Park District adopted the concept and soon began work on developing a children’s museum under the leadership of Mrs. O’Flaherty.
