This Holiday season the Greatest Needs Fund is one of the most essential, allowing us to address the most pressing and critical needs of the garden as they arise. Your generous contribution will empower us to not only maintain our current programs but also to explore new initiatives that enhance the garden’s offerings and reach.
By supporting the Greatest Needs Fund, you are providing us with the flexibility of unrestricted funding, which is crucial for responding swiftly to unexpected challenges or opportunities. This flexibility ensures that we can allocate resources where they are needed most, whether it’s improving infrastructure, enhancing educational programs, or expanding our community outreach efforts.
Your support plays a vital role in sustaining and growing our initiatives, allowing us to cultivate a thriving environment for both plants and visitors. Together, we can create lasting change and ensure that the garden continues to flourish for years to come. Thank you for considering a donation to the Greatest Needs Fund—your generosity truly makes a difference!

To close out our Centennial year, we are launching the ‘Propagating the Future’ Campaign, a vital initiative aimed at expanding our plant propagation infrastructure. An end of year gift to this campaign will not only support our existing collections but also enhance our conservation of endangered desert plants, contribute to critical ecosystem restoration projects, and promote sustainable practices for generations to come.
Tucked behind our historic Smith Greenhouses, our skilled horticulturists and gardeners diligently tend to trays of tiny desert seedlings. Meanwhile, our retail propagation team is hard at work preparing a diverse inventory of desert-adapted plants for sale to members and visitors in our Visitor Center. Providing plants that are well adapted to the Southern Arizona climate to the general public is an important part of our mission and the original vision that Col. Boyce Thompson set forth in 1924. After a century of growth and renewal, we understand the transformative power of seeds. Seeds are not only the start of a plant’s life; they are the foundation of our future.
Consider donating to our new campaign as we embrace the next 100 years of conservation and sustainability at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Visit https://7830.blackbaudhosting.com/7830/ Propagation for more information.
As Arizona’s oldest and largest botanical garden, we rely heavily on a clean, dependable, and sustainable water supply to nurture our diverse ecosystem. Nearly a century ago, William Boyce Thompson recognized a fundamental truth that remains at the core of our mission today: all life hinges on the existence of plants. We see ourselves as stewards of the land and all living beings that inhabit it. Through thoughtful planning, meticulous landscaping, and dedicated conservation efforts, we have cultivated extensive gardens that are not only beautiful but also vital to our environment.
We invite you to join us in our mission to become a Water Wise Arboretum, ensuring that we can continue to flourish for another century. Your support can make a significant difference. Consider making a taxdeductible gift at btarboretum.org/donate, or you can send a check by mail or deliver it in person. If you prefer, feel free to reach out to a member of our fundraising team at (520) 689-4588 for more information or to make a donation over the phone. Your contribution will help us sustain this vital oasis for future generations.
Double or even triple the impact of your support! Many corporations will make donations or donate to offset volunteer hours to match what you have already given. Ask your employer if they have a Matching Gift program in place. If they do, please let us know so we can credit you for the gift.
Consider making a grant recommendation to Boyce Thompson Arboretum through your Donor Advised Fund, or if you are 70½ years old or older you can donate up to $100,000 total with a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA. Please consult your accountant for details.
