PRESIDENT'S LETTER Dear BSM Families and Friends: The fall of each year is an exciting time for many around schools. New students begin their journey at Benilde-St. Margaret’s, and experienced students return with smiles on their faces.

Teachers ready themselves charged to get the most out of their students. Of course, the Red Knight Homecoming week launches celebrations, reunions, barbecues, more barbecues, and athletic events that bring an energy of their own. Homecoming is a time of year that brings the history of our school together with the present day, and we even start to get a glimpse of our future. You can see each pillar of time represented in this issue of Crown & Shield.

Our Homecoming Week this year was a wonderful celebration that culminated with the football game on Friday night against one of our modern-day rivals, Holy Angels. Alumni made their presence known as grandparents, parents, friends, and football fans. I had the opportunity to talk with graduates of St. Margaret’s Academy and Benilde High School that evening and came away with a renewed appreciation of our school’s history. Earlier that day, ten alumni were honored and inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame, some from the 1960s. Again, our school’s history was alive and well. Lastly, our first Benilde High School Class President, Mr. Frank Spinner ’59, was on hand bringing our history to life.

Understanding BSM’s present state is obvious during Homecoming Week. An amazing number of our students are involved in activities and athletic pursuits. In fact, our Red Knight Volunteer Corps alone has a roster of more than 500 current students. School pride is evident by viewing the sea of red in our hallways on Friday and at our all-school pep fests, yet through it all, our students stay connected to their academic responsibilities.

The present is not just about our students; our parents and grandparents play a critical role at BSM today. More than 790 grandparents were welcomed to school to celebrate Mass and enjoy breakfast with their BSM grandchildren. It was such an amazing sight and experience; it adorns the cover of this issue. Hundreds of current parents enjoyed the annual Homecoming Barbecue as well.

While the past and present were highlighted during Homecoming Week, our future also revealed itself just a bit. First, we welcomed many prospective students to BSM as they investigated what it would be like to become future Red Knights. Second, I couldn’t help but notice the incredible number of young kids in Red Knight sweatshirts, hats, and blankets at the football game. Some were involved completely in cheering the team on to victory while others had no real idea football was being played as they focused on their own games with friends in the fields behind the bleachers.

It was a wonderful week that highlighted our past, present, and future, much like this issue of Crown & Shield. Throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, I hope your families fittingly experience God’s grace and blessings.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s

is a school, but it is also a family that is comprised of passionate teachers and students, talented athletes and artists, involved parents and alumni, and of course, our wonderful grandparents –the pillars of the community. It is for this reason that BSM’s Annual Grandparents’ Day event is so special as it celebrates these vital members of the community and honors their relationships with BSM students. BSM is incredibly blessed and thankful for the strong presence of these influential Red Knight family members.

On October 4, 2019, more than 1,300 grandparents and their grandchildren gathered in the Haben Center for liturgy. A record-breaking number of Red Knights participated in this longstanding tradition of 25 years and counting! Though the tasty muffins served following Mass are sure to draw a crowd every year, something else keeps grandparents coming back again and again. Grandmother Cathy Boser exclaimed the answer proudly, “Well our grandchildren, of course!”

For some like Val and Kathy Coppo, grandparents to Thomas Coppo ’23, this was their first Grandparents’ Day at BSM, “but it probably won’t be our last. We’re glad to be here.”

For others like Alice Dixon, grandmother to Jazz Whitfield ’25 and BSM grad Aiana Whitfield ’19, this day is marked off in their

The warmth and love that spread throughout Benilde-St. Margaret’s during the day was clearly felt by all. “Our grandparents are an important part of the community and a central part of these students’ families. Our grandparents are a guiding light who look out for our students and should be recognized for the valuable role they play,” President Adam Ehrmantraut stated. When he looked out across the packed gymnasium, he felt assured: “Seeing an entire community that stretches beyond a single generation all in one spot, and really, the demonstration of faith within that community, is the most exciting part of the event.”

The events of the day excite students as well. Their appreciation of the event can be seen through the smiles shared between grandparents and grandchildren, the readiness of students to escort their grandmas to their seats, the eagerness to take grandpas on a tour around the school, the sincerity of the students as they share the blessing sung by the choir – all of it adds up to a beautiful day full of quality time together. This is what makes the event special to student Nick Peterson ’20, grandson of Dennis and Mary Lou: “I think there are a lot of times when we are with our grandparents in big groups or with our parents, so individual quality time is awesome.” Student Alexis 4

Brixius ’21 looks forward to this day too: “It’s just fun having all my grandparents here together. Especially since some live so far away, it’s fun to show them where I go to school and everything.”

Her grandparents Kathy and Clayton have made the trip from South Dakota five times now to visit Alexis, and now Trey ’23, and Chase ’25. “We came yesterday and stayed overnight with them. We come to this and go to a football game,” Kathy stated.

Attendees come from out of state or just three miles down the road. Mary Kate Laseski, grandmother to Benjamin ’23 and Elliot Laseski ’24 said, “We do see our grandsons often, but you know,

it’s never too much. It’s nice to be part of all aspects of their life and to be part of their school life.”

For many, sharing in their grandchild’s faith life is their favorite part of Grandparents’ Day. Ed Kocourek spoke of the impact BSM has had on his family when he addressed the attendees of the event: “Most important to Julie and myself is the fact that all eight

of our children still practice their Catholic faith and are involved in many areas of the Church. BSM had an impact in this great result.”

Mickey Calengor, grandmother to Charlie Warnert ’20, agreed with the sentiment: “Sharing the service with these kids is just wonderful, especially that they get up this early and come share it with us. It is a wonderful event every year to look forward to and it’s so well done.”

Whether it is praying together or sharing a muffin, these moments will be cemented in memories for a lifetime. The bond between grandparent and grandchild is like no other and is cherished as such.

Benilde-St. Margaret’s is honored to host Grandparents’ Day year after year, and the date for 2020’s event has already been set for Friday, September 25. BSM looks forward to celebrating these special Red Knight relationships and showing a small token of appreciation for BSM’s grandparents’ meaningful contribution to the community. It is BSM’s hope that the guests leave with the same remarks as Avery Junker’s ’22 grandmother, Kathi Junker, “we always do and always will enjoy this event.”

– Eight of the new inductees were present at the luncheon on September 27: Rachel Kuzma Olson ’93, Jim Clifford ’73, Amanda Trunzo ’07, Sara Wartman Dooley ’94, Tracy Johnson ’06, Mike DesLauriers ’05, Dick Wright ’68, and Ian Wexler ’02. Tom Roth ’67 and Luke Gaskins ’04 were unable to attend.

Athletic Hall of Fame

Honoring outstanding athletic accomplishments and contributions of athletes from St. Margaret's Academy, Benilde High School, and Benilde-St. Margaret's Jim Flick 1964 An honoree who was unable to join us in 2015, Jim journeyed from Kansas to be at this year's ceremony. After Jim's senior basketball season, then-coach Bill Haben retired his number.

In later years, #23 was awarded only to players who best exemplified Flick's character, leadership, attitude, determination, and teamwork. Only seven other players have worn that number, and two of those players, Dick Wright '68 and Mike DesLauriers '05, were among this year's honorees.

Jim Clifford 1973

Tom Roth 1967 In his Red Knight days, Tom was a sprinter who also played football and basketball, but his true love was on the cinder track.

Pictured in the '67 Benilden, Tom grimaces as he breaks the tape, baton in hand, anchoring a winning relay. Individual events showcased Tom's true talent, and in his senior year, he broke two school records and earned Most Valuable Track Man of 1967. As a team, the Red Knights were undefeated in dual meet competition, won the Central Catholic Conference Championship and finished second in the state, losing to St. Cloud by a half-point.

Dick Wright 1968 According to friends, Dick's athletic prowess began at Incarnation Grade School (South Minneapolis) where his 8th-grade basketball team went undefeated under coach 6

Dick Marten. At Benilde, Dick lettered in three sports: football, basketball, and baseball. One of only seven basketball players to have worn the coveted #23 jersey, Dick was senior captain, the team's leading scorer (1967 and 1968), and an All-Conference selection. On the baseball diamond as a second baseman, Dick batted .420 and earned another All-Conference selection. Dick went on to play basketball at Creighton University before he transferred to St. Thomas College where he played baseball and basketball for the legendary Tom Feely.

An All-Conference selection for three years in cross country, Jim captained the team his senior year and was the dominant distance runner among Minnesota independent schools in both cross country and track his senior season. During each of his crosscountry seasons, his teams finished among the top four in the state.

On more consistent surfaces, Jim continued his winning ways on the track. Known as a great leader, the team captain capped his senior season as the 1973 State Independent School Champion in the 2-mile, breaking the school record. Jim continued to run both cross country and track at St. Thomas, and the Tommies won the MIAC Cross Country Championship his sophomore year.

Rachel Kuzma Olson 1993 A three-sport athlete, Rachel collected nine varsity letters as a Red Knight. As a setter on the volleyball team, Rachel was

captain and a three-time All-Region player who led her team to the Region 5AA runner-up twice. On the basketball court, the two-year captain received the "Most Hustle" award all three of her varsity years as the starting guard. When spring arrived, Rachel headed to the softball field where she was a shortstop and team captain. With Missota Conference and Region 5AA honors, she was among the top softball players in the state. Rachel traveled to Northwest Missouri State on an academic and athletic college scholarship for volleyball.

Sara Wartman Dooley 1994 Another three-sport female star, Sara was captain of her senior volleyball team. She earned three varsity letters, received conference honors, and was selected volleyball MVP. On the basketball court, Sara was a three-year letter winner and senior captain, received conference honors, and honored as the most dedicated. In the spring, Sara sprinted straight to the track. She was the team's MVP, an All-Conference 400-meter runner, and a three-time state participant. For several years, she was a record holder in the 400, the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400. In the sprint medley relay, her team is still on the record board. At the College of St. Benedict on an academic scholarship, her volleyball team twice advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament.

She was senior captain when they won the MIAC championship.

Ian Wexler 2002 Ian had a tremendous soccer career at BSM, earning three varsity letters, senior captain and All-Conference, All-State, and MVP honors in 2000 and 2001. The Red Knights won the conference title each of his varsity years. When his team captured the 2000 state title, he earned All-Tournament honors. On an athletic scholarship, Ian continued playing soccer at Providence College in the Big East, finishing as one of the team's leading scorers. Ian went on to play professional soccer for the Longford Town Football Club in the League of Ireland First Division — an incredible finish to an impressive soccer career.

Luke Gaskins 2004 An outstanding Red Knight golfer, Luke earned Metro Alliance AllConference recognition three consecutive years. As a freshman, he was the Section V runner-up, then won three season-MVP awards as he led the Red Knights to three state appearances. In 2002 Luke and his team finished 5th at state, followed by a 2003 state championship. Luke was the 2003 individual champion, and he ended his prep career as a Tri-State Champion, setting a new scoring record. Luke headed to the University of San Diego where he played under coach Tim Mickelson, and he continues to live in San Diego.

Luke's dad, Steve, accepted the award on Luke's behalf.

Mike DesLauriers 2005 A three-year basketball starter, wearing the coveted #23, Mike played in every varsity game for three years. A two-time team

MVP and All-Conference honoree, his name remains on the leaders' list for career scoring, assists, and 3-point shots. On the diamond, Mike was the four-year varsity shortstop for the Red Knights. His baseball honors include two-time team MVP, two-time All-Conference, 1st Team All-Metro, Conference MVP Position Player, Metro West Lion Club All-Star, and West Metro Saturn All-Star. Mike's career batting average, .535, is second only to Joe Mauer in Minnesota high school baseball history.

And, he tied with Joe for the most hits in a season. Mike's 194 career hits remain atop the state's leaderboard. At Gustavus Adolphus, Mike was a 3-year varsity basketball starter with record career assists. He was also a four-year baseball starter and is listed in six career categories in the Gusties' record book.

Tracy Johnson 2006 Recently named the head women's hockey coach at St. Olaf College, Tracy's career started at Benilde-St. Margaret's. As a Red Knight, Tracy was a two-year hockey team captain and named to All-Conference, All-Metro, and All-State teams, earning the Most Dedicated award each of four years, including the 2004 Red Knights' state championship. Tracy went to Boston College. A reliable force on the ice, she played in 125 games for the Eagles, captaining the team as a junior and senior. The Eagles advanced to the national semifinals in her first season and the quarterfinals in her junior year.

Amanda Trunzo 2006 A two-time Red Bull Crashed Ice World Champion and the first American to win, Amanda made her mark in three sports at BSM. She earned conference and All-State honors in soccer and was twice named to the State All-Tournament team when the Red Knights were runners-up. As captain of the hockey team, Amanda earned All-Conference and MVP honors, and her team placed third in state.

Lacrosse was still new in Minnesota when Amanda was the MVP of her team. She went on to earn a degree in psychology and sociology from Dartmouth College where she is in the record books for powerplay goals and postseason points and goals.

Building Momentum for

Success

Senior leaders remember their junior high transition.

With their senior year homecoming in the rearview mirror, Julia Hoover, Pedro Ochoa, Jimena McMerty-Brummer, and Hayden Ochs sat in the Atrium reflecting on their six years at BSM. “We all started here in seventh grade, and being in BSM’s junior high those two years made it an easier transition into high school,” Jimena said. “You get to know the teachers in the senior high, and you also get to know the school."

“I was coming from a school where I was in one classroom for the entire day,” Hayden shared, “so starting here in seventh grade definitely made the transition from eighth grade to ninth grade no big deal.”

“And it was a relief that it wasn’t,” Julia added. “You want to form a connection with your school, and the sooner that connection starts, it can just continue to build.”

Pedro believes BSM’s junior high helped foster many connections. “I didn’t know anyone, but then I met people from so many different elementary schools including Jimena in English class, and we talk to this day.”

“I remember having a conversation with a friend who came from an elementary who hadn’t had a lot of homework before,” Jimena said.

Seniors Pedro Ochoa, Julia Hoover, Jimena McMerty-Brummer, and Hayden Ochs started at BSM in seventh grade, fostering early connections and leadership opportunities for future success.

“Coming to BSM in seventh grade, teachers in junior high tell you this is what you are going to have to do in high school,” Hayden said. “Teachers really prepare you.”

“You learn early what the school is about: learning values and

out to us via email, just to see how things were going,” Nina said. “It was nice to know they remembered us.”

All three eighth graders credit the WEB program for developing their leadership skills and building community connections within Benilde-St. Margaret’s. They spent two half-day retreats in leadership learning and have cultivated many friendships.

Drew remembers transitioning from Holy Name and selecting a junior high. “My mom heard really good things about BSM. Everyone she talked to said it is a really great school, so there really was no question.”

morals, what others are going to expect of you, and what kind of person you are called to be,” Julia said.

Advantages in junior high All four seniors had taken advantage of the opportunity to enroll in senior high classes during junior high — a great benefit to help them make the most of their high school career. “It is setting students up for success in AP classes, and those classes are difficult,” Pedro added. “And we experienced finals week, which showed us what high school would be like,” Jimena said.

In recent years, seventh grade has been the only grade level without a waitpool at BSM. However, students who begin in seventh grade transition extremely well because building community is part of the curriculum. The Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) leadership program, now celebrating its tenth year, trains eighth grade students as orientation leaders for seventh graders. The foundation of the program is to help Red Knights feel at ease and build a community among the BSM student body. Teachers and students spend time getting to know each other since Benilde-St. Margaret’s welcomes students from 40 elementary schools around the Twin Cities. WEB leaders guide tours, run ice-breaker activities, facilitate conversations about rules, provide study tips, and give tech support.

Future BSM Leaders Current eighth graders, Nina, Henry, and Drew represent a few of this year’s WEB leaders who helped with junior high orientation on the first day of school.

“In my group, everyone was from a different school,” Henry said. “We spent a lot of time learning each other’s names.”

Knowing students by name is something that rings true at BSM; it reminds students they are valued and supported.

Nina recalled how important WEB leaders were to her transition. “There were a couple of times last year they reached

Seventh graders Katherine and McKenzie appreciate the eighth grade leaders and the relationships they have made since starting at BSM. “We all got to know each other through the orientation group,” said Katherine. “BSM makes sure you are going to succeed inside and outside of the classroom.”

“I did the jump start junior high, a summer camp to prepare me for school, and that was really fun,” shared McKenzie.

Both Katherine and McKenzie are also on the swim team and have gotten to know students in every grade. “It is nice knowing everyone from seventh grade to seniors.”

The seniors couldn’t agree more. “We’ve made so many connections, and we learned to help others feel at ease. That is a skill we will carry with us our entire lives,” Julia said.

Principal Rikki Mortl enjoys the vibrant community in BSM's junior high.

Principal Rikki Mortl is in her first year leading the junior high, after 14 years at Our Lady of Grace (OLG) Catholic School where she served as assistant principal for the last three years. She brings nearly ten years of experience teaching seventh and eighth grade Science. Mortl also coached the BSM softball team from 2006-2010.

"I am truly honored and blessed to have this opportunity to lead the BSM Junior High, one that has a rich tradition of faith and academic excellence. My family and I are excited to join the vibrant Benilde-St. Margaret's community,” she said.

Andy LePeau has written a book, (Photo 10) Write Better: A Lifelong Editor on the Craft, Art, and Spirituality (InterVarsity Press), that owes a debt to longtime BSM English teacher Mr. James Ryan. Julie Holly recently graduated from Collin College Dental Hygiene School in McKinney, Texas. Her senior research discussed how tooth loss is a risk factor for dementia. Inadequate stimulation of the trigeminal nerve places the brain in a chronic state of stress, leading to dementia. Her research, in collaboration with two others, has been published in a national dental hygiene magazine (Dimensions of Dental Hygiene). The title of the article is, “Effects of Mastication on Cognitive Health.”

Michaela Heuckendorf is using personal experience to help others navigate learning obstacles. She found her path at Saint Mary’s University within the education program and graduated this spring with an undergraduate degree in educational studies. This fall, Heuckendorf will pursue a master’s degree in special education with licensure at Saint Mary’s Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs in Minneapolis.

After a big finish to her first season with the College of Saint Benedict cross country team, Tracy Renier is picking up right where she left off. After a top-10 finish to start her sophomore season on Aug. 30, Renier moved not only into the top five but into the top two at the Falcon Invite. She took second in 23:58.1, which is just eight seconds shy of her personal best 6K time, set last season at the NCAA Central Region Invite.

HARVARD VICTORY – The Harvard Crimson defeated Brown 42-7 on September 27 and offensive lineman Eric Wilson ’17 celebrated the victory with BSM classmate Ryan McTigue ’17 who is a junior at Boston College.

BOYS FROM ’05 – Mike DesLauriers had strong support from his Red Knight classmates at the Athletic Hall of Fame: Joe Helms, Bennett Lang, Mike, Jared Brown, Alex Zeman, and Mitch Koch.

Inspiring: A center for innovation, discovery, and collaborative learning

By Dr. Adam Ehrmantraut, BSM President I am walking through the new Atrium at Benilde-St. Margaret's, and I am inspired by the vibrant sense of community that greets visitors as they enter our school. The open spaces, natural light, flexible seating areas, and amphitheater-style performance and collaboration space foster connection and creativity. This physical transformation of our school is possible because of the generosity of our community, and for this, I am extremely grateful.

As we embark on the next phase of our Imagine. Innovate.

Inspire. capital campaign, we are focused on the first pillar of

our Strategic Plan: Academic Excellence. As a Catholic collegepreparatory school with a rigorous and holistic approach, BSM is developing future leaders in a rapidly changing world.

Society will demand much of our graduates. They will grow into adulthood during a period of profound opportunity and change characterized by rapid technological advances, global connections, economic transitions, and evolving social patterns.

The future certainly demands a mastery of knowledge, but it also requires skills that will endure over time. Every BSM graduate should leave as a passionate life-long learner, confident that they truly understand how to learn. After all, learning will be an absolute in their lives. They will need to filter and process an unprecedented amount of information, identify what truly matters, and then innovate and adapt, all with a moral compass. They will need to think critically, create, collaborate, and master different modes of communication.

They need to engage in authentic learning experiences toward that end.

The rows of desks facing an instructor in a classroom might be familiar to BSM parents and grandparents, but they only tell part of the story in how we guide students to be future leaders.

I imagine a space that will inspire innovation, discovery, and collaboration. We are working to create an environment that promotes critical thinking and creativity, where students and teachers with different disciplines and perspectives come together to analyze complex issues.

A space where students have access to technologies that will inspire their

thinking and allow them to connect with others around the world.

Deep learning demands an environment that inspires inquiry and intellectual curiosity.

Imagine a small group of students committed to designing a new energy source. They sit in front of a large screen, sharing ideas, and move to a whiteboard so they can map out those ideas, see connections, and document their creative thinking. They are video conferencing with one of the world's foremost authorities on power and energy. After 50-minutes, there is no bell; they are halfway through an agile planning meeting and free to lean into creative problem solving without the usual classroom constraints.

The energy in the room is contagious because collaboration, the human connection, has tapped an intrinsic motivation that exceeds any external reward.

In this space, teachers are critical guides shaping student curiosity and inspiration. Students build upon their knowledge in English, science, math, investigation, and collaboration. They have voice and choice about how they work, who they work with, and when they work. They learn to communicate ideas so others will listen and care. In the end, thought-leadership, applied through a moral Catholic lens, will be the domain of our students.

I imagine a space where leaders from a local medical device company work collaboratively with engineering and biomedical science students on the design of an implantable medical device.

A conference with students from across the Twin Cities examining Catholicism in today’s world. A wall filled with mathematical evidence

which solves a complex problem and requires contributions from a range of Red Knight minds. I imagine our students revealing a marketing campaign to a local nonprofit that helps save lives. This is a space that stirs curiosity, ignites passions, and fosters creativity.

Most parents and alumni remember their high school experience decades ago. We realize that school prepared us to be consumers of knowledge, to comply with rules, study for tests, and know the right answer. It prepared us to work in highly structured environments, and our schools were built to reflect that structure.

Today, the physical landscape in almost every enterprise has shifted.

Cross-functional collaborative teams are at work in every sector.

Computers and mobile devices are productivity and collaboration tools that are transforming learning and connecting peers and experts around the world. When we explore patterns, impacts, and systems, we have the freedom to think abstractly and more deeply understand the complexities we face.

Dr. Steve Pohlen reminded me, "We are no longer vessels of content knowledge; that is at our fingertips through Google.

Humanity needs to bring creative thinking, empathy, ethical reflection, and risk-taking. Today, learning has to be iterative, not measured by how fast you can answer a definitive question."

Tomorrow’s leaders will need advanced skills in seeing future implications, creating new connections, applying ethical frameworks, and thinking differently about the possibilities ahead.

We must rethink our educational spaces to inspire that kind of innovation. Imagine the impact our students will make.

I’m humbled to have the honor of leading Benilde-St. Margaret's as the new Board of Directors Chair as we enter the 2019-2020 academic year. As I reflect on this past year, it is difficult to imagine the school being in a better position than we are.

In January 2019, we completed Phase I of our Imagine. Inspire.

Innovate. capital campaign. The new space opened to our Red Knight community, just in time for the second semester of the year. The Atrium, an amphitheater-style collaboration space, and three new, state of the art, science labs are awe-inspiring and have invigorated an already strong sense of community within our school.

In February, our Board adopted our new strategic plan: Rich History. Radiant Future. The plan is built upon four core pillars - Exceptional Academics, Being Catholic in the World, Vibrant Community, and Investing in the Future.

The fiscal year ended in June with a strong enrollment pipeline and generous donor support—both key financial drivers. We have sound financial management and clear goals for the future. With the settlement of the Archdiocese bankruptcy case in 2019, we were offered a unique opportunity to acquire the land on which our school was built. I’m proud to report that Benilde-St. Margaret’s now operates as a completely independent financial entity. We are in a position of strength.

Our enrollment is remarkably strong, with wait pools in five of our six grades as we looked to the start of the 2019-2020 school year. As many Catholic high schools around the country are struggling to attract students, our Twin Cities community continues to value the exceptional education and spiritual foundation BSM provides. We continue to be a school where everyone is welcome. To support that goal, your generous gifts fund tuition assistance for 20% of our students, totaling approximately $1.7 million in support. On behalf of our entire community, thank you. Your time and treasures bridge the gap between our tuition revenue and the cost of our programs.

Looking forward, we are excited to launch Phase II of our Imagine. Innovate. Inspire. capital campaign. This second phase will focus on a new center for innovation, discovery, and collaborative learning. Our teachers are already engaged in curriculum enhancements, with a focus on our ability to provide a relevant learning experience to our students for the future. Partnerships with businesses and professionals are extending through our new BSM internship program that provides authentic learning opportunities for our students.

A Knight for All Seasons Supporters Benilde-St. Margaret’s is more than a school; it is a community. Our Knight for All Season auction plays a vital role in fostering the sense of community and reinforcing the ties between fellow parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of BSM. Additionally, this event provides vital funds to the school’s operating budget each year. Last year, our Knight for All Seasons auction provided general operating support for the school as well as tuition assistance for our students.
