ALL CHILDREN LOVE TURE
Ture the Turtle loves books and he so wants all his favourite books to be taken home by children who love to read. This is why you can now find Ture in the entrance of 33 kindergartens in the municipality of Älmhuts in Sweden. The children and the parents borrow some of Ture’s favourite books in the afternoon when going home, and bring them back in the morning, when they are finished reading them. Before Ture again looks after the books, the children will hopefully tell all the other children and staff all about the stories they read.
“Language steps”
With the support of the Cultural Council of Sweden, “Language Steps” is a collaboration between kindergartens, public libraries and agencies for communicative and linguistic development, the aim being to increase language support for parents with children aged 0-3 years old. Placing Ture in the kindergartens is just one of many initiatives to improve children’s ability and desire to read.
Reading skills
The aim of “Language Steps” is to stimulate the language development of the younger children as early as possible, by encouraging parents to speak, read, ask questions and listen to their children. When a child’s language is developed through reading books, a lifelong interest for reading has begun. “Language steps” contributes by giving each child the same starting point in life and through kindergarten and public library it offers them an endless amount of reading experiences.

Ture reminds both children and parents, that it is nice to spend time together and that books create a good opportunity to start a conversation. The parents gets the chance to relax and the children to use not only their imagination, creativity and concentration – but also to learn many new words.

In addition we have equipped the areas with flexible seating and 2 consoles. To separate them, we have made the Cocoon Lounge the center of RePlay. It is visually a real highlight for young and old.

LDPE, bio-based
Bio-polyethylene is vegetable based polyethylene made of ethanol, which becomes ethylene after a dehydration process. It can be manufactured from various raw materials e.g. sugar cane.
Environmental impact
One of the most important environmental benefits of bio-polyethylene is made of renewable ressources with no fosil origin used, and it “binds” approx. 2.15 tons of carbon dioxide per ton of green polyethylene produced. The carbon dioxide is absorbed by the sugar cane as it grows, minus carbon dioxide emitted by the production process. Plastic made from biomass is climate-friendly (CO2-neutral).
