An

An UnFOREgettable Season

Byline goes here

The boys golf team had over 25 members this year, making it one of the largest golf teams in BHS history With this growth, came new players who were instant successes Senior Drew Bollinger played golf for the first time this year, even though it was his senior year.

Bollinger said, “I made a good amount of progress throughout the season, I’d say my handicap went from a 30 to a 15.”

He said that he decided to go out for the golf team because it’s peaceful. “I’ve never played another sport where I can just go out, relax and play My favorite part about matches and tournaments is being with all the guys, and obviously winning whatever I'm playing in.”

Though Bollinger doesn’t plan to play golf collegiately, he plans to continue to play for fun

Senior Rane Rynard says "There was a lot of emotions going into the season this year, personally and team-wise. I am so thankful that I got to play with some of my lifelong friends and an amazing set of coaches this final season My advice to younger players would be to persevere through adversity, but also to embrace every moment you have on the field because it doesn’t last forever " Senior Kennedy Holloway says, "Even though the season did not go the way the team wanted, especially for the seniors, we all gave it our best shot. For younger players, I encourage you to always give it your all and never give up, no matter how the game is going." Sophomore Halle Dolphin says, "This was a good season with a great group of girls, I was sad to see them leave because they became like my older sisters but the following seasons I will make more relationships with the team and continue to work hard My advice to new players would be to always be coachable and set yourself goals to accomplish throughout the season."

Encouragement and endless support are two key components in any successful athletic team. These essentials are what brought the 2023 boys tennis team together through the season. Energy and perseverance was shown through every match played by the boys, allowing for personal and team growth. Teamwork is a big objective in tennis, according to senior Caden Petzold (Varsity 2), "You have to be able to trust your partner to do the right thing but you also know that your partner is counting on you so you can’t make any mistakes " For others, the challenge was more physical, "My biggest challenge was playing people who are tall, this was a great challenge for me because tall players can come to the net and stand there and reach anything you hit, I overcame this by playing Caden and practicing with him over and over and learning how to hit around and over him." says senior Neil Patel (Varsity 4). Junior Omar Martinez (Varsity 3), shares what influenced him to join tennis and what he plans to do with it for the future. "I've been playing tennis for about three years and I started due to being encouraged to join it by friends. I hope to get a scholarship for college to play tennis but if not, I'll still play tennis for clubs and at tournaments " Optimism and leadership characterized and guided the boys as they looked forward to another season
