Community Unity Week is October 12 – 16. Community Unity Week is a BSSD-sponsored project where each school in the District collects nonperishable goods, all benefitting the Blue Springs Community Services League. This year due to the pandemic, the need for assistance is extreme so the business community is also getting involved. Normally Blue Springs Community Services League serves 150-200 families per week by providing food. Right now they are serving between 420-620 families per week. Students from Blue Springs High School and Blue Springs South High School will be contacting area businesses about participation in the next couple of weeks. There are several options to participate. For more information contact Ashleigh Bertrand at Blue Springs South High School at abertrand@ bssd.net.

MEET A BOARD MEMBER Eric Sporing, ECS Capital Investments I am the owner/financial advisor at ECS Capital Investments. I am able to mix and match products and services to help individual clients reach their goals. This is my 5th year on the Chamber board. I started off by going to monthly luncheons and meeting people who then got me involved in volunteering for the fall fest and golf tournaments. When I joined 2020 Chairman of the Board the board, it allowed me to truly understand what the chamber not only does for its members but what it also does for our community. I like to call the chamber an extension of my business. I know if I refer any of my clients, friends or family to any chamber member that they will be taken care of. I have been married for 22 years to my wife Shelly who is a teacher in the Lees Summit School district. We have two kids. , Caitlyn, who graduated from Blue Springs High School and is going to be a Sophmore at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville (SIUE) where she plays tennis. And Cameron will be a freshman at Blue Springs High School where he intends to play football and baseball. We also have one dog named Barkley, he is a Tea Cup Yorkie and weighs all of 5 lbs.
