MEET A BOARD MEMBER Michael Scott, Woods Chapel Church - Blue Springs I am a Pastor at Woods Chapel Church Blue Springs, a campus of Woods Chapel Church in Lee’s Summit. Our mission is to build transforming communities where people are included, accepted, and loved. EVERYONE is welcome here just as you are. We are here to serve Blue Springs and the surrounding area and want to be a bright spot in the community. I joined the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce in 2016 and have been a member of the board since January 2020. I love the connections I’ve made with the members of the Chamber. Everyone is passionate about making our community a better place, and I’ve learned that our Blue Springs Chamber is an extremely impressive organization! I have always known that, but being on the Board has really highlighted the talent and dedication of the staff. The Chamber has been a huge supporter of our efforts in the community. They’ve invited many people to be a part of our organization through word of mouth and sharing our social media posts. The Chamber invites the community to be a part of our family events, Sunday worship, and service projects, as well as promoting We Care Blue Springs, an early education facility for children ages 0-5 as well as a before/after school program and summer camp for school-age kids. My wife, Stacy, and I have four awesome children. Angelica is a student at UCM, and Kiley, Brian, and Kiera are all students in the Blue Springs School District. I love fishing, music, and cooking.

COMMUNITY

GET TO KNOW GENBLUESPRINGS Travis Hunt, New York Life I’m Travis Hunt, a financial advisor and agent for New York Life. I specialize in helping individuals, businesses, and families protect and grow their assets. I chose to open my office in Blue Springs because I am a resident of Blue Springs and wanted to have an office in the community that I live and care about. I really enjoy getting to know individuals and families and helping them achieve their financial dreams. I have been a Chamber member for 3 years, and am the Co-Chairman for the genbluesprings Young Professionals Group. Being involved with genbluesprings gives me an opportunity to give back to my community and connect with other younger members. It’s a really fun group that has built quite a few strong relationships and friendships. This is very helpful when building a new business and not being from the area. Participating in genbluesprings has also allowed me to develop relationships outside of the formal setting of some of the other Chamber events. I have also had the opportunity to meet some very successful local business owners and have the chance to pick their brain. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, my wife Teresa, daughter Evie and dog Mookie. We love visiting family in Hawaii. I’m a diehard Chiefs and Royals fan and I enjoy playing basketball whenever I get free time. The genbluesprings group meets for lunch and planning on the first Friday of each month. For more information about joining genbluesprings, contact the Chamber at (816) 229-8558.
