EJC BASH!
On Thursday, April 6, we co-hosted the EJC BASH along with 5 area Eastern Jackson County Chambers at the Kansas City Zoo. There were 50 different member booths who participated and more than 250 people who attended the event. Attendees got to learn more about the goods and services of various businesses, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and had the opportunity to connect and network with others. We were also able to make connections with businesses who were interested in joining the Blue Springs Chamber.

Congratulations to Meyer Music on being awarded the Distinguished Award by the Missouri American String Teachers Association at the 85th Annual Missouri Music Educator Association Conference. Mike and Tom Meyer of Meyer Music were also named as recipients of the Woody Herman Award for Excellence in Jazz Education. The family of Woody Herman created the award in 2022 to honor jazz educators and advocates of jazz education who have made a significant impact on the lives of student musicians.

Trisha is a long time advocate for women and children, and those affected by domestic violence hold a special place in her heart. Worlds of Fun is celebrating their 50th anniversary! The park opened on May 26, 1973. Founded by Lamar Hunt, Worlds of Fun started as Kansas City’s Family Fun Adventure. It quickly grew into a theme park larger than any amusement park in the Midwest! My name is Melissa Guzman owner of The Grid on Main Studio & Event Space.
The Grid on Main’s mission is to provide a modern and stylish space for all of your small special occasions. We host anything from micro weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, workshops & more. The Grid on Main opened in November of 2022 and we’ve received such great support from the community since.
My husband Eric, two daughters, and I moved to Blue Springs about 5 years ago and absolutely fell in love with the area. When I’m not at The Grid you can find me selling real estate, dabbling in photography, or at the dog park with our 4 mastiffs.

A BUSINESS IN BLUE SPRINGS EXPO
On Saturday, April 29, the MCPL Blue Springs South Branch hosted the Blue Springs Business Resource Network’s How To Start a Business in Blue Springs Expo.
Facilitated by Jason Norbury, Director of Economic Development, there were 8 new and emerging businesses represented. Attendees learned the steps to starting a business in Blue Springs and received resources for business plans, licenses, insurance, finance, realestate, legal issues and more.
Following the presentation, businesses were able to talk with participating vendors including the City of Blue Springs Permits and Licensing Department, Blue Springs Downtown Alive!, Representatives from ABWA, Bank 21, Z-Team and RE/MAX Heritage, ClickIt Social, MCPL’s Square One Team, Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More, Shelley D.
