Meet a Board Member Dr. Thomas Meyer is the campus president for the Blue River and Business & Technology Campuses of the Metropolitan Community College. As your community college, they pride themselves in working with local businesses and industry partners to help them meet their workforce demands. Dr. Meyer states that the Chamber of Commerce is the perfect place to meet the “movers and shakers’” of the community. He remains impressed with the passion and care that the Chamber demonstrates to its members and to businesses in the community. He is also grateful for the invaluable networking opportunities and the friendships and collegial partnerships that he’s developed through the Chamber. In his free time, Dr. Meyer enjoys gardening, painting, and traveling the world. He, his spouse, and their three cats and two dogs travel between Fort Lauderdale, FL and Kansas City. Originally from Allentown, PA, they have found a new home in Missouri.
Monthly Luncheon On April 22, we held our very first Virtual Luncheon. The group met as a whole to start, then went into break out rooms with about 10 members and staff in each room. It was not only very informative but a chance to network, make connections, meet other members, and share ideas on how to navigate through this struggle. It was also a wonderful opportunity for the Chamber to learn what else we could be doing for our members. We plan to hold the next Monthly Luncheon on Thursday, May 21 as a virtual Zoom meeting as well. Hope you can join us, we would love to have you!

PPE Needed Can You Help? As COVID-19 continues to spread rapidly, more personal protective equipment (PPE) is needed for medical caregivers and first responders who will come in contact with patients. From donating existing supplies to shifting production to manufacture PPE, there are several ways Missouri’s businesses and manufacturers can join the effort.
Did You Miss Power Hour? Now you can watch the replay on the Chamber’s YouTube channel! Scan the QR code to subscribe and watch.
PPE Donation and Manufacturing If you are a Missouri manufacturer or business that can either sell or donate current on-hand supplies of PPE, or have the capability to produce various PPE items, the Missouri Dept. of Economic Development (DED) is coordinating a supply chain replenishment effort here. View a list of the supplies and PPE specifications DED is asking for here. PPE Large Scale Manufacturing for National Response If you are a Missouri manufacturer that can support a larger production effort that could help multiple states, we recommend that you fill out the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) form here. Similar to DED, NAM is directing all manufacturers that have the ability to shift manufacturing operations to begin production of PPE. For information on how to sell PPE and medical equipment to the federal government, please visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) webpage here.
