Congratulations to Los Cabos Mexican Grill & Cantina on being the February BSSD Community Partner Award recipient! Los Cabos has been a key partner for the district, offering hands-on learning experiences & internships for students.

Happy 125th birthday to The Examiner! The newspaper began serving Eastern Jackson County 1898 with a weekly that had six pages. The cost to subscrive was .50 cents a year.

Southern Jackson County Fire Protection District celebrated the grand opening of their brand new Station 3 on February 25. The new station is located near 7 Hwy and Wyatt Rd. SJCFPD is proud to continue their growth in order to provide the highest quality of service for our community.

Congratulations to Wild Souls Wildlife Rescue Rehabilitation on being chosen for the David Risberg Memorial Grant. This grant will be for Missouri’s only “Shop with a Conservation Agent” program sponsored by Wild Souls.

WELCOME MIKAYLA!

The Blue Springs Chamber office staff has grown! Mikayla Lavelle has taken over as the new Administrative Assistant. Mikayla will be answering phone calls, handling billing and payments, attending events and helping out with everything Chamber!

Mikayla grew up right here in Blue Springs, graduated from Blue Springs High School, and attended Missouri State where she studied special special education. Mikayla is excited to join the Chamber team and is looknig forward to contributing to the community that she grew up in.

Fun facts about Mikayla:

- She has two large dogs - a Shepherd and Pyrenees mix

- She has lived in Blue Springs her entire life

- She brews her own beer!
