2019 CHAMBER CHECKLIST Things to Remember About Membership in 2019 Use your resources-- Whether it’s the people you network with at events, social media interaction, our website, or by joining a committee the resources are unlimited.

Do business with other Chamber members-- One of the biggest perks to being a member is camaraderie with fellow businesses. When you use other members, it encourages them to use you as well.

Play the long game-- Don’t network to gain a sale; network to build relationships. Promoting your business doesn’t always result in an immediate sale, but it helps others get familiar with you and refer you when they or someone they know needs your service.

Don’t worry if you can’t attend every event-- We’ll do our best to keep you involved through other communication channels, primarily email.

Register for events beforehand through the Monday Morning Coffee or our website-- Get it out of the way ahead of time! You can also pay online via credit/debit card, and even store your card information for future use.

Most importantly, communicate with the Chamber staff-- All businesses have different needs, and not all of our events or services are going to suit you. When you have exciting things going on in your business whether it’s an anniversary or promotion, let us know. When you need help with a business challenge, reach out to us. We are here to help you!

Mid-Continent Public Library--Blue Springs South Branch is now open after their summer-long renovation. Jacqueline Reed, Chair of the Chamber Board, has been promoted to Associate Director for Public Services.

Saint Luke’s East Hospital is the top rated hospital in the Greater Kansas City Area for customer satisfaction.

The City of Blue Springs will host a Rededication and Reburial Ceremony of the 1976 Time Capsule on January 10 at City Hall.

Lieutenant Don Rapp and Sargent Jeff Sargent of the Blue Springs Police Department have been promoted to Captain Don Rapp and Lieutenant Jeff Sargent. The badge pinning ceremony will take place Friday, January 9 at 4:00pm.

MEET A MEMBER Melissa Lewis ECS Capital Investments Meet Melissa S. Lewis, the newly appointed Life Insurance Specialist working with Eric Sporing at ECS Capital Investments. She has been helping families plan for their financial future for eight years.

She and her husband both lost their fathers nine months apart and suffered hardships because neither of them had life insurance or a financial plan in place.
