REGIONAL DAY AT THE CAPITOL Join members of the Blue Springs, Lee’s Summit, Independence, South Kansas City, Grandview and Raytown Chambers of Commerce in Jefferson City. Group members will carpool to Jefferson City, leaving around 7am. Costs will be the cost of lunch (approximately $15) and gas (TBD). The agenda is in progress. Meetings are being planned with elected officials to focus on economic development, health care, transportation and education, to name a few.

At this time, we are planning to leave Jefferson City around 5pm.

MEET A MEMBER Zachary McKamie Paychex Meet Zachary McKamie, Blue Springs newcomer who started his professional career with 8 years in the United States Marine Corps where he served over the course of two wars, Afghanistan and Iraq.

In 2002, his unit awarded him “Marine of the Year”. After his service, he came back home to teach History in the Shawnee Mission School District for nine wonderful years, many of which were spent traveling the world with students. Though still a teacher at heart, he now is enjoying a new journey with Paychex, a provider of payroll, human resources, and benefits outsourcing services for small to medium-sized businesses. He enjoys hearing about the dreams and goals of business owners and giving them the resources and time to freely run the business of their dreams and succeed.

BLUE SPRINGS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP Deadline to Apply: February 22 The Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce is accepting scholarship applications from 2018-2019 high school seniors. Four scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors in each of the three Blue Springs High Schools and one from another area school district.

Students who are eligible for this scholarship will be graduating seniors from Blue Springs High School, Blue Springs South High School, Valley View High School, and one from another area high school.

Students must work for a business that is a member of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce or have a parent/guardian that works for a business that is a member of the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce.
