Creek and River Tubing

Experience the thrill of riding a tube down the crystal-clear waters in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Deep Creek, just outside of Bryson City and the Oconaluftee River in Cherokee are two of the purest rivers in the Smoky Mountains where you can enjoy a tube ride that’s part rushing rapids, and part lazy ripples and swimming holes.

Deep Creek

Tubing companies generally operate from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day; however, Deep Creek tubing can begin earlier in May and continue after Labor Day if the weather is warm. Rental companies are located on West Deep Creek Road, just outside of Bryson City, near the park entrance. Light-weight inflatables with seats can be rented for the day. From the parking lot at the Deep Creek trailhead, carry your tube upstream on the Deep Creek trail and look for put-ins.

Oconaluftee

Only 20 minutes from Bryson City, the Oconaluftee River originates in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and flows through downtown Cherokee. Tube rental companies in Cherokee transport you and your tube to a put-in spot and pick you up at the end of your ride.
