All Aboard a Fan Favorite

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad historic train depot is in the heart of Bryson City and is a favorite attraction for family fun. A round trip on the train is an ideal way to see extraordinary places that you can’t get to by car. Get a front row view of Fontana Lake, the historic Fontana Trestle, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest, the Nantahala and Tuckasegee Rivers, historical structures, and stunning foliage.

Wholesome fun for the whole family includes both steam and diesel-powered train excursions. Choose from various classes of climate-controlled cars or experience an open-air car. For groups up to 15 people, reserve a private caboose. All train excursions include free admission to the Smoky Mountain Trains Museum, with its collection of 7,000 Lionel engines, cars, and accessories.

Special event trains include the popular Polar ExpressTM during the holiday season, and other themed adventures, including the Uncorked Wine and Rail experience, the Carolina Shine Moonshine Experience, and BBQ and Brews.
