Welcome from the Assistant Head (Sixth Form) We are delighted to welcome you to Bryanston’s 2026 Futures Fair. The Fair features a range of talks, discussions, and networking opportunities designed to help pupils explore a variety of future pathways, including higher education, apprenticeships and early careers. The Fair is also designed to help you as you support your child with their decision making about their future life beyond Bryanston. The majority of pupils pursue higher education and apply through UCAS to study at a UK university. As a result the UCAS process is the backbone of our futures process at Bryanston. Led by Mr Green, we offer a highly structured programme of personalised support to ensure pupils make well informed, competitive applications in their chosen areas. Specialist applications, including medical schools, conservatoires, art foundation courses and other highly competitive applications, such as Oxford or Cambridge, receive carefully tailored guidance. It is best to start these applications early, so please do encourage your child to get in touch with me, if they have not already done so. In addition, every year, thirty or more pupils express an interest in exploring opportunities in the wider world and apply to universities overseas. Some countries have straightforward application processes whilst others are more-time consuming. It is best to contact Mrs Weatherby to ensure you are aware of the testing and admissions processes for each different institution. Furthermore, many American universities take a holistic view of applicants, looking beyond the grades to include extra-curricular activities, clubs, sports, volunteering and positions of responsibility. It is best to start building your application evidence early and plan to take advantage of the summer holidays to create work experience and other activities to support your application. As part of our support for international applications, we also host an international university fair each Autumn Term.
For an increasing number of pupils, the attraction of earning a salary, gaining valuable workplace experience and a university degree means degree apprenticeships are increasingly popular. A degree apprenticeship combines a full time job with part time employer-funded study. Vacancies for degree apprenticeships can vary year to year. They typically open in the October of A2 and are extremely competitive. Every business and pupil’s application is different. Mr Bray’s one-to-one support throughout the process helps to give the best chance of success. Each year, we partner with JPMorgan Chase to host a mock assessment centre as part of the Sixth Form employability matters programme. Our employability programme seeks to provide opportunities to develop career management skills and to engage in real world learning. We organise a series of talks from careers professionals and entrepreneurs throughout the year. We also provide dedicated support for pupils looking for work experience and/or support with setting up their own business. Ms de Mowbray is also available to offer one to one guidance or careers coaching sessions to help pupils clarify their thinking and build their confidence. Next term, the summer term of A3, pupils will begin to discuss future plans with their tutors. They will also meet with Heads of Department to discuss course choices, set up their UCAS account and discuss work experience opportunities and other activities to support their personal statements. Applications are finalised and submitted in the Autumn Term of A2. In some cases, pupils choose to post apply once they have left Bryanston. The sixth form team support young OBs with their applications and a new tailored early careers networking group, Bry30, is being launched this April to provide ongoing employability support. Speakers Dr Katherine Lloyd-Clark Katherine leads the Student Access, Recruitment and Admissions Service at the University of Exeter. She has nearly 30 years’ experience in selective university admissions, covering all segments and levels of study.
James Darley James is the driving force behind Transform Society and an inspirational speaker and leader in recruitment. With more than 26 years’ experience in graduate recruitment across finance, FMCG and public service, he is widely recognised as one of the leading experts in the sector, having recruited over 10,000 graduates. He has served as a Trustee for Frontline, Police Now, Think Ahead and Unlocked. James was part of the original senior leadership team at Teach First. Over 15 years under his guidance, Teach First reached #2 in the Times Top 100 of graduate employers and grew by 800% to become the largestsingle recruiter of graduates in the UK. James is a Trustee of Now Teach, Romodels, and also sits on the advisory board of the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation, a charity matching disadvantaged and vulnerable students with life-transforming education opportunities. He is also part of the Government’s National Leadership Programme for the top 100 public sector leaders.
Andrea Freeman Andrea is Principal of Oxford Media and Business School. After studying Education at university, Andrea has spent her entire career in Education and Training, initially teaching Business Studies before specialising in Communication and Presentation Skills including Personal and Career Development. In addition to teaching Andrea has worked for numerous examination boards as an Examiner and Principal Moderator as well as writing various articles for business magazines. Andrea has also coauthored a student’s text book on word processing. She is a qualified Myers Briggs consultant delivering the MBTI programme to all her students and an NVQ Assessor and Internal verifier.
Speakers Sandra Davis Sandra supports young people and their parents through the key transitions from education into meaningful careers or entrepreneurship. A former independent school senior leader and careers/employability specialist, she works holistically with families, coaching young people to identify the right pathways, strengthen their applications, and secure opportunities that genuinely fit their strengths and ambitions.
Sadia Kamaly Sadia is a law graduate from the University of Oxford (BA) and BPP University (LLM) who secured solicitor training contracts from global law firms before becoming the Schools Partnerships Manager at Dukes Plus Consultancy. Sadia has over 8 years' worth of experience in successfully supporting schools and students through the higher education application process. Her previous work with the admissions offices at the Oxford Law Faculty and Brasenose College has also provided her with intimate knowledge of how to navigate applications to the world's best universities
Damian Scott-Masson Damian is regional director for Camps International Limited. Having worked in outdoor and academic education for many years, Damian left mainstream education to set up and run Camps’ Latin America operation. Joined by his wife, children and dog, he is now enjoying the ‘pura vida’ way of life in Costa Rica, when he’s not travelling between offices in Quito and Cusco and promoting their operation throughout the major Latin American cities.

Real world encounters with role models, who have already navigated the move from school to the world of work and share their experience, are key to Bryanston’s employability programme. We believe access to knowledge, valuable connections and tailored support should not end when Bryanston pupils leave school. With this in mind we are launching Bry30 - a dedicated network for young OBs (18-30). Whether heading to university, starting a first job, or exploring career options, Bry30 is here to help them navigate the transition from education into the professional world of work.
