LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Alumni and Friends of Bryan College, The prophet Isaiah wrote “…your name and remembrance are the desire of my soul” (26:8b). As Bryan College enters fall 2020 with all the challenges and fresh starts a new academic year brings, this short phrase, written long ago and recorded in Scripture, has been on my mind.

Bryan College has been near and dear to my heart since I first stepped foot on its campus as a six-year-old in 1976. As I step into the role as president, my desire is that Christ and his work of grace and mercy on my behalf is ever on my mind and that he is the desire of my soul.

As we move forward into this academic year, there are always hopes and challenges. Perhaps this year is a bit different due to the socio-economic challenges our society faces due to the pandemic. It is easy to assume that the challenges faced in the present are somehow different than those faced by earlier generations. However, as students of history, we see that those who preceded us at Bryan College also faced daunting challenges and disruptions such as universal depression, economic recessions, fears of polio epidemics, and war. As I look back on the history of this College, I am struck by the legacy of faithfulness to God by the men and women who led and attended Bryan College throughout the years. They modeled what Isaiah wrote; God’s name and remembrance was the desire of their soul.

Bryan’s motto of Christ Above All stands as a reminder of God’s faithfulness in each of our lives and the life of Bryan College. This motto also challenges us each and every day to trust and stand firm in Christ. We are grateful for Bryan College’s partners around the United States and the world, for your support in prayer and gifts, and for standing with us as we seek to hold Christ Above All! We look forward to seeing you on Bryan Hill in the near future.

FAREWELL TO DR. LIVESAY Dr. Stephen D. Livesay Dr. Stephen D. Livesay has served as the seventh president of Bryan College since 2003. Throughout that time, his encouragement toward excellence and innovation has led the College to growth in many areas, with an eye always to the motto “Christ Above All.” Since Dr. Livesay’s arrival, the College has expanded the degree completion program; implemented a dual enrollment program and graduate programs in Business, Christian Studies, and Education; and opened the Vogel School of Engineering, and the Bryan College School of Nursing. New student life advances include the Bryan Opportunity Scholarship, Bryan College Martial Arts Academy, and a national championship fishing team, among many others. In 2004 and 2014, Dr. Livesay oversaw successful SACS accreditation reviews, vitally important milestones of any college or university.

With these reaccreditations and new programs, enrollment has more than doubled since 2003.

Under Dr. Livesay’s leadership, many needed facility renovations have been completed, including the gymnasium, dining hall, several dormitories, Rudd auditorium, and Brock Hall. The third floor of Mercer Hall now boasts new classrooms and a large auditorium; the Rankin Center’s reconfigured first floor serves the new engineering school; and the new Stophel Welcome Center now houses the main administrative offices.

Efforts to promote the College nationally have taken Dr. Livesay to speaking and fund-raising events, conferences and colloquia, as well as his regular individual meetings with alumni and friends of the College.

Dr. Livesay has also strengthened Bryan College’s ties to the community, especially through the President’s Roundtable – a twice-yearly gathering of college personnel and Dayton business leaders to explore mutually beneficial initiatives. Partnerships and curriculum agreements with other colleges and home education groups have expanded the College’s reach and purpose. For twelve years, Dr. Livesay served as host of the weekly Moody radio show Life Today, giving the College nationwide exposure while he and his guests challenged listeners with Biblical truth on a variety of topics.

Supporting her husband’s efforts as president, Corinne Livesay has invested in direct assistance such as meeting with donors, working with the College’s web communications and other projects, and leading a ladies’ Bible study and numerous leadership workshops. Her recent book William Jennings Bryan: A Difference Maker will deepen appreciation for the College’s namesake for generations to come. In addition, she is the creator of the William Jennings Bryan display showcased in the Stophel Welcome Center.

Most importantly, over the past seventeen years Dr. Livesay has led and served Bryan College with a heart faithful to put Christ above all. As a staff member reflects, “Dr. Livesay is a man of faith and prayer. He relies on the Word to guide him, especially through challenging times. He is passionate about sharing the mission of Bryan College with others and takes great joy in seeing them give for the benefit of our students.” Dr. and Mrs. Livesay will be missed, and the College wishes them the beauty of time with their children and grandchildren as they move into a new stage in their life of service to the Lord.

WARD FOUNDATION FUNDS NURSING PROGRAM AT BRYAN COLLEGE Dayton, Tenn. (March 18, 2020) — Thanks to the generosity of the Ward Foundation, $1.2 million will fund Bryan College’s School of Nursing.* Beginning in fall 2021, Bryan College will offer a bachelor of nursing degree that will build on the college’s existing curricula in business and healthcare management that prepares students for management opportunities in healthcare. The BSN program will add to current offerings in the biological, physical, and exercise sciences which prepare students for careers as nurses, doctors, physical therapists, and other allied health related fields.

College officials noted that their mission seeks to produce students equipped with the knowledge, values, and skills to make a difference in the world. The addition of the nursing program represents a key extension of that mission and will be especially vital to the growing regional economy.

And with Bryan College reducing its tuition costs by 40%, those entering the school as first time or returning students can do so knowing they are attending one of Tennessee’s most affordable higher-education institutions. Bryan College’s tuition of $16,900, along with a $7,800 room and board cost, will provide a value unmatched in private higher education in the state of Tennessee and surrounding region to students entering the nursing program.

Of the many growing professions in contemporary culture, nurses care for the individual, often at a time of greatest need and at the most important junctures of their lives. As the world continues 6

to grapple with health care issues and challenges, the need for nurses and healthcare professionals will continue to surge.

The program will provide curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN), a pathway for registered nurses to complete their bachelors’ degree (RN to BSN degree) as well as provide a site for employed nurses to complete continuing education credits (CEUs) to maintain licensure through work in nursing simulation labs.

Through a developing partnership with the Rhea Medical Center, students will be afforded the opportunity to work with medical professionals as they pursue their degree. As the mutually beneficial relationship evolves, it is anticipated that patients

treated by the hospital will receive the greatest benefit from the program. Hospital officials noted that they are hopeful that many Bryan graduates will choose to stay in Dayton as they begin their careers.

Officials said, “Having well-trained professionals join our team is not only good for the hospital but also good for our local community’s economy. We’re excited about what the future holds.”

Bryan College President Emeritus Stephen Livesay said, “This is an important milestone in the history of Bryan College and one that will position our students for success as they serve in the medical field. It’s our goal to make sure we have the best professionals prepared to meet the need of present and future patients in the ever-changing field of healthcare.”

Officials noted that the college’s announcement mirrors recent additions such as the School of Engineering.

New Bryan College President, Dr. Doug Mann, is excited about the addition of the Nursing program: "For the prospective students we talk with, this is probably the most requested degree program that we have not previously offered. The nursing program will fit nicely with our mission of educating students to be servants of Christ. Health care providers such as nurses serve people often at their most crucial points of need.

Bryan College Enactus Takes Second in League at Expo The Bryan College Enactus team won second place in their league at the Enactus 2019 National Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri.

The five-member presentation team consisted of Peter Urban, Keeley Holliday, Daniella Banda, Nathan Ecarma, and Anthony Tejeda. Tomas Aleman Hogue provided audiovisual support. Also in attendance were project managers Ethan Shaw, Emily Brown, and Mac Raughton. Bryan’s win places the team among the top 32 out of 404 national teams. This is their second time winning at Nationals, continuing a two year streak that began in 2018.

June 10, 2019 Engineering Student Wins STEM Scholarship Jayden Parris (Engineering, ’22) was awarded the firstever Lockheed Martin STEM scholarship. This $10,000 scholarship was granted on behalf of the Lockheed Martin Corporation, a global aerospace and advanced technologies company. Only 200 winners were chosen from a pool of over 6,300 applicants. Winners of the highly competitive scholarship were selected based on academic record, strong example of leadership, and extracurricular service and achievements. As a freshman in the Vogel School of Engineering, Parris displayed excellence in all three categories, winning the Outstanding Underclassman in Engineering Award and running as a member of the cross country team.

Omni Rehab Opens Bryan College Location Omni Rehab Clinic opened a new location at Bryan College to offer its services to athletes, students, faculty, staff, and the Dayton community. Omni Rehab was started in 2001 with the goal of providing the highest quality physical and occupational therapy to the Sequatchie Valley area. Both owners have roots at Bryan- alumnus Travis Smith is the father of a current student, while Tommy Haupert is the husband of alumna Allison Womble Haupert. Located in Mercer Hall, Omni is staffed by qualified physical therapists licensed to deal with joint motion, muscle strength and endurance, and heart and lung function. Treatment includes therapeutic exercises, cardiovascular endurance training, free concussion testing, and training in the activities of daily living. Pre-med and pre-therapy students seeking real-world exposure will also have the opportunity to work with Omni, allowing them a competitive advantage in postgrad program applications.

Natasha Trethewey, Pulitzer Prize-winning Poet, Visits Bryan Sept. 20 Critically acclaimed author, Natasha Trethewey, visited Bryan College September 20th to share her life journey and discuss her work with faculty, students, staff, and visitors. During her visit, attendees encountered Dr. Trethewey’s body of work that spans two decades and includes five collections of poetry and one book of creative non-fiction.

“Natasha Trethewey writes poetry that connects personal revelation to national history and moves back and forth between the tragic and the triumphant along the way,” said Dr. Raymond Legg, former Chair of the Department of English at Bryan College. “Trethewey asks herself and her readers ‘What’s in your heart?’ and her answer is one of the most engaging and sophisticated bodies of work in contemporary literature.”

Bryan College Announces Historic Tuition Reduction Bryan College Announces Historic Tuition Reduction September 4, 2019 — Bryan College announced a new direction for students considering a private college experience: a 40% reduction in tuition.

The historic reduction of $11,000 will take place with the beginning of the 2020 academic year for students enrolled in on-campus undergraduate degree programs. With the change, Bryan College will have the region’s lowest tuition and fees of any private college.

Bryan College Honors Dr. Augustine Asir Bryan College recognized Dr. Augustine Asir for 50 years of full-time ministry and 20 years of partnership with Bryan College. A lifelong native of India, Dr. Asir is the founder of Word to the World, an evangelistic ministry to the socially neglected people of India with over 200 Indian missionaries serving in nineteen of India’s 36 states and territories.

Bryan College Ranked Among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges Bryan College earned four rankings in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings that lists the nation’s top achieving colleges and universities. In the report, Bryan was ranked in four categories, including: Best Regional Universities – South (#47–tie), Best Undergraduate Teaching (#31–tie), Best Value Schools (#30), and Top Performers on Social Mobility (#23–tie).

Stophel Center Grand Opening Oct. 4 The Stophel Center of Bryan College held its grand opening on October 4, 2019, at 4 p.m. The Center is named in honor of longtime supporters Glenn and Jackie Stophel, former Chattanooga residents.

Glenn Stophel served as a member of the Bryan College Board from 1978 to 1986 and again from 1992 to 2010. He served as Chairman of the Board from 1996 to 2003 and also served as Legal Counsel to the College. Presently, Stophel serves as Trustee Emeritus in honor of his many years of valuable service to the College.

Department of Leadership and Culture Hosts Q Union Event Benton Jones Presents at Enactus World Cup Interim Chair of Business, Mr. Benton Jones, was one of six international faculty selected to present at Enactus’ inaugural Academic Leaders Symposium. The Symposium provides faculty with a forum to showcase and share their research with all attendees at Enactus World Cup, a global event that attracts business, student, and academic leaders for collaboration and competition. Presenters included individuals from Nigeria, Canada, the United States, and the Philippines.

Mr. Jones presented on Increasing Diversity in Enactus Teams using Simulated Intergroup Social Contact based on his current doctoral work in Human Resource Management.

The Department of Leadership and Culture partnered with Q Ideas on October 24 to host Q Union, an event geared towards providing guidance and inspiring conversation on how to engage with society’s more difficult conversations. Q Union is an annual event hosted on 34 college campuses throughout the country, featuring three student speakers and three globally broadcasted speakers. Attendees were given the opportunity to hear from all speakers and then engage in discussion with other attendees regarding the overarching theme of “Create a Better Future.” The evening ended with a panel discussion featuring the student speakers and moderated by Jack Saunders.

Nearly 130 guests attended the event in the new Stophel Center.

Hilltop Players Charm Audiences with “The Apple Tree” Homecoming 2019 Sets Attendance Record Nearly 450 Lions and their families returned to the Hill during Homecoming 2019 to celebrate and remember their time at Bryan.

Pre-sale tickets hit record numbers before the big event with nearly 300 sold. A variety of events kept visitors busy throughout the weekend.

The Hilltop Players of Bryan College wrapped their performance of “The Apple Tree,”a three-act comedy based on short stories by Mark Twain, Frank R. Stockton, and Jules Feiffer. Each act focused on a singular narrative.

“William Jennings Bryan: A Difference Maker” Brings Influential Politician’s Story to Life When Corinne Livesay came to Bryan College in 2003 with her husband, Dr. Stephen Livesay, she realized that many people were either unaware of William Jennings Bryan’s place in history or held an impression skewed by fictional satirizations (the most well-known being “Inherit the Wind,” a play based on the Scopes Trial). With this in mind, she set out to write a book that examined more than just the final days of Bryan’s life, with the goal of helping readers gain a more holistic view of the man who was both an influential American and the college’s namesake. Putting together such a book required extensive gathering and cataloging of information. In addition to traditional forms of research, Mrs. Livesay sought out and captioned 125 photos to add visual interest to the book. This significant number of photographs required acquiring rights, finding high-resolution copies, and pairing the right information with the right image. Mrs. Livesay also traveled to locations where Bryan lived, including Asheville, NC; Lincoln, NE; and Miami, FL. In addition to visiting Bryan’s frequented locations, she also explored Bryan family cemeteries and combed through historical records in each city.

Chuck Baker Retires; David Holcomb Named Vice President of Advancement and Communication Chuck Baker announced that he would retire from his role as vice president for advancement effective April 1, 2020. Chuck Baker had been serving in this role at Bryan for the past four years after retiring from successful executive roles at Unum and as president of Bethel Bible Village. Under Chuck’s leadership, the advancement department has enhanced the Giving Tuesday/Gifts for the King annual fundraising efforts. His strength in leadership has been most apparent in his ability to make all of his staff better in each of their given areas. He will be greatly missed.

As we step forward, David Holcomb has accepted the new role of Vice President of Advancement and Communication. David Holcomb has served at Bryan as the director of the scholarship fund since 2012 and was the founder and director of the Martial Arts Academy at Bryan since 2016 and founder of the Evening with Bryan events held throughout the country.

Hilltop Players Captivate Audiences in “Last Train to Nibroc” Bryan College Launched Summer Institute Bryan College is excited to announce that a new Summer Institute launched in July 2020. The program is intended for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school. The Summer Institute gave participants a week-long glimpse into life at Bryan College. Students earned a college credit by taking courses in one of four tracks: apologetics, business as mission, creative writing, or digital systems.

The Hilltop Players battled time constraints and illnesses to perform “Last Train to Nibroc” by Arlene Hutton for their annual dessert theatre. The first two-person show in Hilltop Player history, the delightful story follows Raleigh and May, who meet on a train in 1940 and discover that they are from neighboring towns in Kentucky.

As they grow closer, they must navigate the changes that life brings and learn to be brave.

April 28, 2020 Dr. David Calland Named VP of Academics and Provost at Bryan College Dr. David Calland joined Bryan College’s executive team as Vice President of Academics and Provost on July 1. Dr. Calland joins Dr. Douglas Mann, who began his tenure as President of the college on July 15.

Bryan College Online Recognized for 6 Top Degree Programs in the U.S. Bryan College Online recently earned top-ranking status by Intelligent.com. In the report, Bryan College earned six individual rankings, as listed below: #5 in best online Bible Colleges #17 for the Master’s in Human and Family Development Degree Programs #18 MBA in Marketing Degree Programs #27 Human Resources Certification Programs #29 Master’s in Healthcare Administration Degree Programs #30 MBA in Marketing Degree Programs

Dr. Calland holds a PhD in organizational management from Capella University in Minnesota, a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in psychology from Liberty University. Incoming Bryan College President Dr. Douglas Mann noted Dr. Calland’s breadth of unique roles and experience in federal government, private industry, and higher education, which he believes make him a perfect fit for Bryan College.

Bryan Student Leverages Networking for Growth For senior IMC major and golfer Daniella Banda, the internship of a lifetime came via her daily LinkedIn browsing. In November of 2019, she saw a mutual connection had posted about a “Careers in Golf ” event hosted by the National Collegiate Club Golf Association in Myrtle Beach, SC. The event, she saw, was for male golfers onlyshe decided to message him anyway and ask if she could attend.

Her determination paid off. The connection replied that, although the event was male-only, his colleagues recognized a lack of female participation in the league. Would she be interested in an invitation?

Banda seized the opportunity, booking a flight for the next day.

The event connected her with recruiters from the Golf Channel, PGA of America, USGA, Buffalo Agency, and other major golfing representatives. As she talked to recruiters, a new dream began to develop: interning with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

Bryan College Online Announces First Responders Scholarship From CMSgt Michael Kennedy, USAF (Ret) M.A.Ed. Bryan College first and foremost continues to lift in prayer our brave First Responders and their families during this current COVID-19 response. We cannot thank them enough for their sacrifices during this time. As a way to say thank you, Bryan has a First Responder Scholarship for those interested in returning to school to complete their degree. Those eligible will receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship to Bryan College Online.

Bryan College Introduced the Bryan Stimulus Plan The Bryan College Stimulus Plan was designed to help students who enroll in our onsite undergraduate program for Fall 2020. The plan consists of three elements to make a quality private education more affordable for you and your family: 1. The Tuition Reduction – We have one of the least expensive tuitions in the region.

2. The Difference Maker Program – We offer the Bryan Difference Maker program, where students who earn their bachelor’s degree at Bryan College are eligible to earn a master’s degree at Bryan College tuition-free.

A WORD FROM THE ADMISSIONS DIRECTOR As a student at Bryan College, class of 2013, my life changed completely because of the Bryan College environment. It was truly an amazing four years. As it stands right now, Bryan is still changing the lives of our students and sending out graduates who are passionate about applying God’s truth and commands in every area of life. My only lament is Bryan’s continued “hidden gem” status Andrew Smith among Christian colleges. Therefore, our role in the admissions office is to find students near and far to be shaped and changed by our mission - educating students to become servants of Christ to make a difference in today’s world.

Major in Exercise & Health Science - Minor in Communication Growing up in James Cistern, Eleuthera, The Bahamas, Wade Weinburger knew that he wanted to play baseball from a young age. He believed that sports and athletics would lead to bigger and better careers. Wade hopes that with a degree in exercise & health science, he can help younger kids reach their goals and further their careers.

The Lord started to connect the dots for Wade when he moved to Faith Baptist Christian School, a baseball academy in Brandon, FL. One of their baseball tournaments was held at Bryan where Taylor Hasty, former Bryan Baseball Coach, saw Wade play. Coach Hasty was impressed with Wade and offered him a scholarship to Bryan. A couple months after accepting

As he got older, he became increasingly interested in ideas: JOSHUA ROBE their meaning, their history, - SENIOR and how these fit together.

With the influence of Travis Ricketts, professor of history and politics & government, Joshua started to find understanding of what he could do with so many interests: “One of the first people I had the blessing to get to know at Bryan was Dr. Travis Ricketts, and it was he who suggested my double major, and I’m glad I did!”

STUDENT PROFILES the scholarship to continue his career at Bryan, Wade discovered that Coach Hasty’s wife had known Wade his whole life. In fact, her dad, David Thompson, was a founder of the Eleuthera Bible Training Center, which is located in Wade’s hometown. Coach Hasty also led both of Wade’s parents to Christ.

With a bachelor’s degree in exercise - RECENT GRAD and health science and minor in communications, Wade has found rest in the fact that his plan has been written out by God Himself and fully trusting in Him has brought him to where he needs to be. “We are all where God wants us to be right now.

Asking Him to lead you daily gets you through the ups and downs that life has to offer.”

Joshua loves having the opportunity to study both fields: “I think history and government are really important complements to each other. Doing government without understanding history is dangerous because such ignorance almost always leads to repeating the mistakes of the past. It is similarly harmful to do history without it being grounded in real world application of making the world a better, more just and flourishing place. So I am very thankful to have the broad foundation from studying both fields together.”

Joshua plans to go to graduate school to study government and then to attend law school. He hopes to pursue a career in constitutional law. His passion is to understand and implement how God designed law to be structured to enable the flourishing of His creatures, whom He loves.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: COACH SMITH Our “Overnight Success” the last couple of years took thousands of days.

I recently looked back to the original foundations of our program; it was established with the strong core values of honor, love, transformation, toughness, COACH JASON SMITH truth, and team. I believe we have been in constant pursuit of perfecting those values within our players and we have become much better in recent years in specifically defining or re-defining, articulating, executing, and applying those core values.

With all that being said, none of our success would be possible without the imperfect pursuit of transparent and transformational leadership from our captains the last few years. Our coaching staff has inspired our captains to lead through a biblical and discipleship model of “Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Him daily.” Much like the apostle Peter, they have not always perfectly executed the mission but they have endured through sufferings to always return to our core values by listening to the question, “Do you love me?” and responding with feeding His sheep.

We use several slogans or affirmations to articulate those I am humbly grateful for the opportunity to coach core values establishing our identity: one such slogan has been “We Over Me”. I think it started from a standard we put into place a few years ago when I made the statement, “It’s my job to love my players and it’s the players’ job to love each other.” I am passionate about godly character development, meaningful relationship building, pursuit of truth, and transformation through the gospel of Jesus Christ; therefore, we really want to see our players genuinely love and care for one another, put others first (We Over Me), and be great teammates– a representation of our Lord’s command, “To love thy neighbor as yourself.” We have actively put teeth into that process with daily affirmations in practice, team activities, and team Bible studies.

On the court, it is obvious that we have been fortunate to recruit some talented basketball players who contribute to our success, but I believe when we set the standard of “We will practice and play like a Championship Basketball Team every time we hit the floor,” it totally transformed our success. That statement allowed me as a coach to come to practice each day with one goal in mind. ‘How do we get better today?’ In the middle of a thirty game winning streak a year ago our players focus each day was. ‘How do we get better today?’ Not, ‘Can we keep the streak alive?’ Heartily believing in that

and minister to our Lady Lions in a faithful pursuit of holiness on and off the court, and I am confident that God is faithful in His pursuit of loving them. My constant prayer for my players comes from 2 Cor 13:11 “Finally, brothers [players], rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”

NEW COACH: JAYSON DAVIDSON The future of the Bryan College Women’s Soccer program is bright for 2020!!! Obviously we are in unprecedented times with COVID-19 and all of the changes that have come with it. Times like these can be uncertain for an athletic program, but I truly believe the COACH JAYSON DAVIDSON Lord has smiled upon our program during this crisis. The Lord has blessed our program with an outstanding recruiting season, bringing 18 new faces to a program with 16 returners, with a level of talent far exceeding all expectations.

There is no question as to whether we have the ability to compete for a conference title this year.

As a team, our focus this season is threefold. Our first goal this season is to surrender to each other, loving each other well on the field and off.

Our second goal is to submit to Christ’s will for our program and our individual lives by prayerfully seeking his guidance in every action we take as a team and as individual parts of the whole Bryan College body. Our third goal is to fiercely compete as a family unit on the field, in the classroom, and in the walk of daily life on campus. These ladies have been working extremely hard over the break and are ready to get back together in August. We know the Lord has big things for our program this year and we can’t wait to get the family back together and allow him to work!

As their head coach, I am already extremely proud of the returners this year and how well they supported me in the spring coming in as their new coach. I am proud of how much they grew in spring on the field and off, loving and supporting each other through the difficulties of recent times. I am also proud to see how excited they are to embrace their new family members in the 2020 recruiting class. They have already started coming together as a unit for the 2020 campaign. Watch out for this group this year. We are on a mission, a mission to truly show ‘Christ Above All’ while displaying the fierce valor of Lions on and off the pitch! It’s a new day in Bryan College Women’s Soccer with the Lord at the helm guiding us and smiling on us.

ALUMNI DIRECTOR Dear Lions, I have started this letter a hundred times. It is hard to know what to share when the world seems so upside-down right now. I feel upside-down. I am in the trenches of planning Homecoming, and the theme this year is “Together.” We are all in different places emotionally, spiritually, and physically. My prayer for Bryan College has always been that we would become a united body of believers and unified Lions. One mission, one goal, and a love that burns so bright for Jesus that it overshadows our differences. This is the year to come together, be together, and love together. Let us lay aside every weight–the things holding us back from true relationship with Christ and each other–and come together as brothers and sisters, Bryan Lions: strong, unified, and together.

Kelsey Morgan has a passion for serving this generation of young people and has ministered to youth for over 25 years. She is an author and editor of the youth ministry curriculum series NEXT and serves as the Coordinator for the East-Central Region for the National Network of Youth Ministries. Kelsey has served on the Alpha Youth Board for the U.S. for over five years and is a volunteer middle school girls small group leader who was recently covered head to toe in ramen noodles.

She graduated from Bryan College in 1995, daughter to retired professor Marty Hartzell ’94H, and enjoyed being (literally) a Bryan lion.

Brock Morgan is a lifelong youth worker and is known for his fun style and amazing storytelling. He’s authored several books, including Youth Ministry in a Post-Christian World, Youth Ministry 2027, and

Felipe and his wife Brigitte are originally from Chile. They have been married for 29 years and have four children. Felipe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bryan College. Following graduation, Felipe joined the Acapella Company as a recording artist, where he participated in four albums; Acapella Classic, Acapella Hymns, Acapella Melodies, and with Acapella Vocal Band for their Spanish album “Caminando En La Luz.” He has also produced a music album in Spanish titled “Paso a Paso.”

Felipe earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. Prior to being called

by First Baptist Church in Laredo, TX, Felipe served for 13 years as an assistant pastor at FBC in Pittsfield, Maine. He enjoys jogging, playing the guitar, and writing music.

ALUMNI & SPORTS HALL OF FAME Dan Begley ’76 played basketball at Bryan his sophomore through senior year after transferring from Georgetown University. During his junior and senior years, Dan was the Southern Christian Athletic Conference (SCAC) scoring champion, averaging 24 points per game. He also made SCAC All Conference. During his senior year, Dan was honored as SCAC MVP and named 2nd Team All American in the NCCAA. Throughout his three years, he scored 1,953 total points, and he was the 3rd leading scorer in Bryan basketball history upon graduation.

He retired from teaching in 2018. Dan enjoys serving at his church, delivering meals to the homeless and shut-ins, Dan and his wife, Mary, and teaching Sunday school. PAUL AND DELANA BICE

Delana Bice graduated from Bryan in 1974 with her bachelor of science degree. Raised in Kingston, TN, Delana is the oldest of three daughters. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 10. She learned about Bryan College during her senior year of high school from a student who attended her church. It was exciting for her and her parents to hear of a college that taught from a Christian worldview.

During her time at Bryan as a student, Delana studied music education and sang in chorale. She believes that her education at Bryan was an extension of her parents’ Christian teaching: “Bryan College was a place for me to grow in Christ and for my Christian values to be reinforced and encouraged,” she says. “I am still trying to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Paul Bice grew up in Houston, TX, and attended the University of Houston where he earned his bachelor of business administration degree with a focus in behavioral management science and a minor in accounting.

Compared to his large public college education, Paul can clearly see a difference in Bryan College: “I have enjoyed meeting the people at Bryan and watching God work in so many ways. I wholeheartedly support the mission at Bryan and am happy that we have had 30

Paul and Delana met in Houston in the real estate business. They currently reside there where they own and operate a residential real estate company. They love working with their clients who are often returning customers. Last year, the company was recognized by the Houston Business Journal as the top residential real estate luxury team in the city.

Delana was asked to consider being on the board of trustees by Dr. Bill Brown, and she has been continually surprised by the blessing it has been to her over the past 20 years. “It has been an opportunity for me to see God’s provision time after time, to see His guidance in important decisions, to learn that He is never in a panic, and that He always knows what is best,” she says. “I have learned, I have grown, I have been blessed!” In 2014, Delana became the chairman of the board and continues in that role. She is thankful for Paul’s support for her work on the board: “He is my strongest supporter. Paul has been willing to take on my real estate responsibilities, working harder and longer because I did not have time for both business and college responsibilities.”

Delana is excited about the future of Bryan College. She believes that the school is positioned well to continue growing and influencing the lives of students, and that the new Engineering and Nursing departments will be used by God to show the world His love and hope.

JEREMY DEAL ’07

Jeremy grew up in Lenoir, NC. After graduating high school, he attended Lenoir Rhyne University.

While playing baseball at Lenoir Rhyne, Jeremy became convicted about missing church for several months, as baseball had him playing games every Sunday: “At this point in my life, I felt that I was choosing baseball over Christ. I began looking for a college that exalted Jesus and didn’t play games on Sunday.”

This search led Jeremy to Bryan College in the Fall of 2005. “When I came to Bryan, I knew this was the place God wanted me to be; I found the school that treasured Jesus and worked at excelling in both academics and athletics.”

Jeremy met his wife in high school and became engaged before attending Bryan. On August 12, 2005, Jeremy and Deanna were married, and this year marks their 15th anniversary.

Jeremy and Deanna have five children: Lydia (9), Hannah (7), Elijah (5), Micah (3), and Julia (1).

Jeremy was called to ministry in 2007 and started pastoring in February of 2008. Jeremy is the lead pastor at New Union Baptist Church in Dayton, TN, and has been in full-time ministry for the last twelve years.

After finishing his bachelor’s degree, he completed his master’s of divinity at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. When asked how Bryan prepared him for

life, he answers, “Bryan College was and will always be a special place. During my time at Bryan, God allowed me to make some of my best friends, grow in the knowledge and application of the Word, play the game I love, and surrounded me with staff and faculty who modeled faithfulness in every area of their lives. As a student, Alexis was mentored and influenced both inside and outside the classroom by professors such as Kim Keck and Bernie Belisle. She maintained relationships with them after graduating and now gets to work alongside them. Alexis desires to be a teacher like those she experienced, caring for students beyond the classroom and creating connections that extend beyond graduation.

Alexis graduated in 2013 with Bachelors of Science in Piano Performance and Theatre. She went on to receive a Master of Arts in Speech and Theatre from Louisiana Tech University in 2017. Receiving a theatre education in both Christian and secular environments was intentional for Alexis so that she could gain a range of experience and be able to effectively work with students from a variety of backgrounds.

Since beginning her role as Instructor of Performing Arts, Alexis is most proud of directing My Fair Lady because of the number of people it involved both on stage and behind the scenes. Her favorite show to direct has been Last Train to Nibroc because of its beautiful simplicity. She enjoyed getting to work closely with the actors in the two-person cast and see them work hard to develop their characters and overcome obstacles.

Alexis Landry ’13 is beginning her third year at Bryan as the Instructor of Performing Arts, which she describes as her dream job. She enjoys seeing shows come together, watching students fall in love with characters, and observing audiences’ reactions to performances from the back of the theater. She credits her parents for her love of the arts. Her dad is a music minister, and her mom teaches piano and plays for the church.

Growing up in Virginia, Alexis planned to attend Liberty University, but her dad encouraged her to apply to at least one other school. She applied to Bryan after hearing about it from a friend, and fell in love with the school after visiting. “It was one of those God moments where I stepped on the campus, and I just knew this is where I needed to be.”

Alexis believes that theatre is an avenue to tell stories about life and the story of the gospel: “Even if they’re not necessarily biblical in nature, ultimately everything is reflecting the ultimate Storyteller.” It is important to her to pinpoint moments of redemption within stories and to not be afraid to portray some elements that are not strictly Christian: “It’s important to tell those stories because we’re able to walk away from it thankful that because of Jesus, we don’t have to live that way; we don’t have to believe those things.” Ultimately, Alexis wants her students to learn how to balance being effective artists and holding fast to their beliefs and convictions.

Britney Wyatt ’16 began her journey at Bryan working as an Adult and Graduate Study (AGS) admissions counselor.The Lord led her as she went from being an admissions counselor for AGS to teaching fulltime Business and Marketing courses here at Bryan, a position where she feels the most fulfilled.

Britney received her B.A. in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She went on to earn her MBA with an emphasis in Marketing from Bryan and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration with emphasis in marketing at Grand Canyon University.

As a wife and a mom of three fur babies, Britney Wyatt spends a lot of her time serving students and her community. One way she serves the community is through Bryan College Institute of Leadership, Business, and Marketing at East Hamilton Middle/High School.

This program is designed to prepare students with the professional skill set required in higher education and the business industry. Bryan partnered with the Hamilton County Department of Education in August 2018 to allow instructors like Britney to introduce future ready institute students to college opportunities through guest lectures, campus visits, and business related activities such as mock interviews to help prepare students for understand my vocation in marketing because of how their careers and college.

Britney shifted my perspective of the field. I realized Britney’s teaching philosophy is demonstrated through that it isn’t just about sales and advertising. Marketing the way she leads her class. She creates an environment encourages engagement, brings awareness, and builds that positions her students to work as if they are in relationships. the real work environment. For example, group work is implemented in her class which teaches students to Britney goes above and beyond for students and truly collaborate and come to a final conclusion as a team. Hmm… Let’s consider what an estate plan could do for you.

By planning, you make things easier for your family. If something happens to you, it will already be a very difficult time for your family and loved ones. It’s your gift to them when you leave a plan and the means for carrying out the plan of what you want to have happen when you pass. If you don’t have a will or living trust, the state has a distribution plan for you, but it may not be in accordance with your wishes. Perhaps a charity you’re currently supporting has come to count on your gifts. Unless the charity is in your estate plan, your support immediately stops when you die.

Anyone of legal age (18 years old in most states) and sound mind can make a will.
