Eerst probeert Doctor sleep, een vervolg op de klassieker The shining, u het slapen te beletten. Daarna is het grootste horroricoon van de jaren 1980 aan zet. Wie tijdens A nightmare on Elm Street in slaap durft te vallen, krijgt bezoek van Freddy Krueger. Wie wakker blijft ook. Wie daarna niet durft te gaan slapen, kan afsluiten met The world is full of secrets, een hypnotiserende debuutfilm over vijf adolescenten die elkaar met griezelverhalen willen overtroeven. 113. C’est le nombre de documentaires belges (dont quelques inédits) qui seront présentés sur tout le territoire à l’occasion de la seconde édition du Mois du Doc. Les festivités prendront place dans des espaces convenus, comme les salles de cinéma, mais aussi dans des lieux insolites, comme des bibliothèques et des prisons. Le tout assorti de rencontres avec les réalisateurs et de débats. À Bruxelles, on notera, entre autres, l’avant-première de L’École du Changement. Un film signé Anne Schiffmann et Chergui Kharroubi retraçant le projet audacieux d’enseignants en région bruxelloise. (SOS)
What started in the Lower East Side in New York in 2000 has now grown into a yearly global competition in which MCs battle it out to see who is really the very best. Announced as the biggest rap challenge in the world, eight countries are competing for the title in the End of the Weak final. The best word-spitter will be selected by a professional jury who will judge all the contestants based on five specific tests that meticulously measure the MCs’ technical skills. Belgium has been in the flow since 2014, is organizing the final this year, and is sending the Brussels-based rapper Crapulax to compete on its behalf. (TP)

De voormalige Molenbeekse metrobestuurder Mohamed El Bachiri verloor op 22 maart 2016, tijdens de aanslag op de Brusselse metro, zijn vrouw, maar pleitte achteraf tegen haat en voor verbinding in de bestseller Een jihad van liefde, opgetekend door David Van Reybrouck. In hun nieuwe boek, De odyssee van Mohamed, gaat het over zijn toekomstvisie en over zijn leven in Molenbeek voor en na de aanslag. In het Vlaams-Marokkaans culturenhuis Darna gaat Mohamed El Bachiri na het interview met Béatrice Delvaux (Le Soir) in gesprek met het publiek. David Van Reybrouck leidt in. (MB) NL
