Welcome to th of The W It’s summer and things are heating up in many ways. The weather has been warm with little or no rain and you seem to be taking The Wittance to your heart. Our readership is growing daily and our social media followers are on the increase. Thank You! We try to bring a wide range of article to the magazine and we think we have managed that again this month. We look at the first public exhibition of the 700 year old Arbroath Declaration of Independence in nearly 20 years. In 2017 the Baby Box scheme was introduced in Scotland to help infant mortality rates and give every child the best start. Kate MacRitchie looks at the impact they have made over the last six years. We have tales of John Law an outlandish Scottish banker who accrued enormous gambling debts, was sentenced to death, was pardoned, revolutionised French banking and died a young man. We have Scottish influences in the US Navy and reveal the oldest tennis court in the world – it’s in Fife.
