An Introduction
• Oxyfuel-cutting technology helps in rapid material cutting with low costs and the ability to cut thick materials. It provides excellent solutions for industrial, construction as well as repair processes. Let's discuss the fundamental cutting process and various techniques used in oxyfuel cutting. During the oxyfuel-cutting process, a combination of the fuel gas and oxygen is focused on the workpiece, allowing the metal to preheat below its melting temperature.
Requirements of Oxyfuel Cutting Process

• The preheating temperature of the material must be lesser than its melting temperature. Preheating beyond the melting temperature would allow the material to flow before cutting.
• The lava's melting point must be less than that of the rest of the material to pass the oxygen jet to blow it away.
• Gaseous products should be nominal to prevent dilution of the cutting oxygen jet.
• The reaction between the oxygen jet and the material (oxidation) should be adequate to maintain the preheating temperature.
