Over 400 alumni gathered for the annual Alumni Seafood Dinner in late April in the Benson Mall. Members of the Alumni Board of Directors and volunteer faculty and alumni ensured a successful evening.

The Fishing Rodeo returned to the backyard at school in late May. After a brief rain delay, the rodeo kicked into high gear. The Class of ’73 Culinary Squad prepared and served sno-balls, fried fish and tasty treats. Beverages supplied by Pepsi and Southern Eagle Distributors, tents supplied by Fleur de Lis Rentals and a water slide kept the crowd cool. David Cresson ’89 and CCA Louisiana provided rods and reels and tackle boxes for all junior fishermen. The Parade of Prizes awarded over 60 prizes, a special jewelry raffle sponsored by Chris’ Fine Jewelry and the “big 10” raffle board provided top prizes. Prizes included a 2-night stay at Windsor Court, Sugar Bowl tickets, fishing charters and a Ruth’s Chris gift certificate. Phins & Pheathers won the 5-Trout Stringer category and Anthony Congemi ’19 caught the largest fish by a current Brother Martin student.

Seniors’ Last Day

Fr. Paul Hart ’70 greets seniors The Class of 2016 celebrated its last day in a different way this year. Seniors were treated to a breakfast buffet in the Terrace before Mass in the Branton Chapel. Fr. Paul Hart ’70 celebrated Mass, shared stories and encouraged the class to stay in touch with “the greatest high school in the world”. Next, members of the class attended

brief presentations given by alumni. The presentations ranged from networking and making yourself marketable to striking a balance between academic and extracurricular pursuit and pursuing your dream career. The young men then relaxed in the backyard with tailgate games and music. The Alumni Association, in conjunction with Sysco Foods and Brother Martin Food Services, treated the class to a steak lunch to end the day. Alumni dads and grandfathers of current seniors joined the class as volunteer senior moms served lunch and dessert.

Espinosa-DuRapau Endowment The EspinosaDuRapau Endowment for Faculty and Staff Development is established

by Victor J. Durapau, Jr. Ph.D. ’58 CJ in the St. Aloysius Century Foundation to support Brother Martin High School.

Dr. DuRapau, Jr. has established the endowment in memory of his parents (Antoinette DuRapau and Victor J.

DuRapau, Sr.), his sister (Sr. Theresa Mary DuRapau, RSM, Ph.D.) and his aunt (Leonora Espinosa McGinty Zaumeyer). Dr. DuRapau, Sr. Theresa and Lenora have a total of more than 100 years in teaching and research at all levels from elementary school to university.

Vic, Jr. taught for 45 years before his retirement at both the high school and collegiate level. He finished his career as a professor at Xavier University in New Orleans. Because of his and his family’s involvement in education and fond memories of his teachers at Cor Jesu High School, Vic wanted to give back and establish a fund to support and promote

teacher and staff development and continuing education.

The purpose of the endowment is to provide financial support for Brother Martin teacher and staff development and continuing education, as well as the pursuit of advanced degrees by. This can include, but is not limited to bringing in presenters, attending conferences and seminars and tuition for additional certification or advanced degrees.

Contributions to the EspinosaDuRapau Endowment for Faculty and Staff Development can be made to the St. Aloysius Century Foundation.

Rod West ’86 Addresses Students In April, the Brother Martin community celebrated their Easter Liturgy in the Conlin Gym. Following the Mass, Alumnus of the Year Rod West ’86 addressed faculty, staff and students. Rod was presented with his Brother Martin football jersey by Tommy Mitchell ’79 and Patrick Bouchon ’16. Patrick will be attending University of Notre Dame in the fall of 2016 where Rod received a Bachelor of Arts degree.

St. Aloysius FourClass Reunion St. Aloysius Class of 1966 Crawfish Boil The St. Aloysius Classes of 1960 – 1963 reunited to help the Class of 1961 celebrate their 55-year anniversary. The Alumni Dinner Dance was held at Saint Dominic’s Knights of Columbus Hall in The Christopher Room. Ladies received favors and music was provided by Benny Grunch (Benny Antin ’63) and The Bunch.

A group of St. Aloysius Crusaders held their annual “Class of 1966 Crawfish Boil” in April at the home of Mike Buras ’66 SA. Classmates spent the afternoon reminiscing about their alma mater and sharing stories. Special guests included Bro. Paul Montero and Bro. Lee Barker.

Tennis Tournament - 2nd Time’s a Charm The 2016 Brother Martin Tennis Tournament was rained out on its original date in March; however, the weather on the “make-up” date made it worth the wait. Cool temperatures and clear skies favored the players at U.N.O Tennis Center in mid-May. Over 150 players took to the courts in nine Ladies’ divisions and three Men’s divisions.

The “Parade of Prizes” gave attendees a chance to win hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, tennis lessons and other various gifts. The 50/50 sent a lucky winner home with some extra cash.

Come Home to Brother Martin First, I want to welcome the newest members of our Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association, the Brother Martin High School Class Kraig de Lanzac, M.D. ’86 of 2016. We are glad to have you with us and we look forward to seeing you at our events.

It is hard to believe that I am coming to the end of my two-year term as the President of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Association Board (aka, the Alumni Board). It has gone by very quickly.

In this edition of the Century II you will have a chance to elect a new Alumni Board. I am pleased to announce that Sal Brocato ’88 has been selected by the Alumni Board to serve as the next President.

Congratulations, Sal. We now number over 15,000 covering the St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu, and Brother Martin High School graduates. We have Chapters in 26 locations. In this article, I am going to focus on the New Orleans area activities of our alumni association. Obviously, our success starts with the Brother Martin High School leadership in the form of our Board of Directors under the leadership of the Honorable Bob Burns SA ’62, and the administration and faculty of the school lead by our President John Devlin and Principal Greg Rando ’77. More specifically, our alumni affairs are coordinated through the Office of Alumni and Development under the leadership of Tommy Mitchell ’79 and Kenny Spellman ’84 and their staff. I can honestly say that the alumni office lives for the Brother Martin alumni and the benefit of our current and future members.

So why am I writing this article? I want to personally invite you to one of our alumni events.

Yes, there is a reunion for your class every 5 years that I hope you attend, but there is an entirely different set of activities and events geared towards all classes and our families. There is an event for everyone and a chance for you to socialize with alumni of all age groups and to develop a wide network of friends and contacts, all sharing that Crusader spirit.

You name it. From the recently added trivia night, which has been a success to long-standing events such as the golf tournament and the fishing rodeo, there is something for every taste. If you have ever reminisced about the dances in the Mall, we have now held two wildly successful alumni dances themed first for the ’80s and this past year for the ’70s and planning is underway for next year. This dance is just the way you remembered dances in the Mall, without the high school awkwardness.

For me, our central event is our Alumni Seafood Dinner, which is held each year in late April or early May. This is an alumni-only seafood dinner featuring boiled crawfish, fried seafood and all the refreshments you can drink. It is held on campus in the Benson Mall. This is a great party allowing all of our classes to get together for a casual night with giveaways, raffles and the occasional fightsong rendition. At the Alumni Seafood Dinner you can pick up information on other alumni events and speak with other members who participate in these events. For my group, after our fill of crawfish, we head to Administration Row to look over our senior photos and to reminisce. After the Seafood Dinner many groups head to their respective after-parties, already speaking of next year. If you can make only one event and want to get a feel for our Alumni Association, come to the Alumni Seafood Dinner. You will not be disappointed.

Just about every club, organization or sport has its own reunion or social, either jointly with Homecoming or on their own. Over a decade ago, along with Mike Hotstream’90 and David Connick ’88, we decided it was time to bring back the Alumni Band. All it took was a meeting with Kenny Spellman and the late Marty Hurley, and the event was born. We are in our 11th year and going strong.

It is just that simple. If you don’t see an event for your group, reach out to the Alumni Office and pitch your idea.

Another key event is our Homecoming celebration in fall. This year Homecoming is on Friday October 21 at Tad Gormley Stadium. Free food and refreshments are provided with plenty of entertainment for the entire family. Bring the family out to enjoy a great night and root for the Crusaders.

Now that you have added the Seafood Dinner and Homecoming to your calendar, what next?

Come Home to Brother Martin (continued from Page 8) We know many of you now reside out of the New Orleans area, but when you make your way back, check the alumni calendar on the Brother Martin website. It would not surprise me that we would have an event or social when you are in town.

Better yet, plan to come home for an event such as your reunion or the seafood dinner. Call your classmates and make it your own event. Not sure what alumni event to attend? Come to several.

Head to the website and look through the pictures of the events to get a feel. You will probably know many of the participants, but even if you do not, come on out and meet some new friends.

I have heard some worry that if they come to an alumni event they will be asked to donate to the school. At our events, you certainly may be asked if you are interested in sponsoring an event, with your name or the name of your company appearing in publications, but this is voluntary.

If you are anything like me, you will find such enjoyment in the events, that you will want to contribute to help to guarantee the event’s success or profile. You may even decide that you want to help participate in the organization or the running of the event. There are always plenty of spots for volunteers and I promise you will have a good

time. When you see the great things happening at Brother Martin, you will want to contribute.

There are many ways you can give back to Brother Martin. Kenny Spellman ’84 has taught me the rule of time, talent and treasure and Brother Martin Alumni events can benefit from any of those you can share. Just as important are the “friendraising” events. You will find a wealth of friends drawn together by the common shared experience of our years at Brother Martin, Cor Jesu or St. Aloysius.

I want to thank the Brother Martin High School Administration including specifically, President John Devlin and Principal Greg Rando. Before I began my term as President, I went to them and asked what the Alumni Board could do for them and the School. Their answer was simple and in concert and it centered on one word, trust. The Alumni Board trusts the leadership of the school and we will continue to work together to keep Brother Martin High School a leader in Catholic high school education and to continue to carryout the Charism of the Brothers of the Scared Heart.

Alumni Highlights Robbie Dauterive ’84, Head Wrestling Coach, has been selected as the 2015-2016 Outstanding Boys Prep Coach of the year by The Greater New Orleans Sports Awards Committee, which is sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Robbie was recognized at the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame Awards Banquet on Saturday, August 6th at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

During his 11 years as a head coach, he and his teams have claimed eight state championship titles and finished as state runners-up twice. This past February, Robbie and his team captured its fifth consecutive Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Division I State Championship. He has been named New Orleans area all-metro wrestling coach of the year nine times and was recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as the Louisiana Coach of the Year in 2014. His dual meet career record is 210-12.

Trey Herty ’03, Sous Chef at Brown Butter Southern Kitchen & Bar, won Gambit’s fourth annual Emerging Chefs Challenge. The competition featured sous chefs from 15 New Orleans restaurants including Restaurant August, Domenica, Shaya, Brennan’s New Orleans, Ralph’s on the Park, Peche Seafood Grill and Dick & Jenny’s.

Trey’s winning dish was a slow roasted pork belly with peaches, peas and ricotta.

1957

Bro. Neal Golden CJ was a member of the author team for a book produced by the Professional Football Researchers Association (PFRA) in conjunction with MacFarland Publishers. The subject of the book was the 1966 Green Bay Packers for the 50th anniversary of the first Super Bowl champions. He interviewed and wrote the biography of LSU great Jimmy Taylor, the All-Pro fullback on that team.

Brother also wrote some of the game summaries as well as the article on Super Bowl I.

Michael Duplantier SA has been elected second vicepresident of the Louisiana Landmarks Society.

Paul Arrigo, President and CEO of Visit Baton Rouge, is one of six at-large members appointed by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser as an at-large member of the Louisiana Tourism Development Commission.

He will serve at an advisory capacity to the Lt. Gov.’s office with specific responsibilities of reviewing and advising on major types of promotion and advertising contracts and helping formulate a strategic plan for tourism development.

Johnny LeBourgeois officially retired from AT&T, after working in the telecommunications industry for over 37 years. In the ever changing industry, Johnny worked for nine different companies (four associated with “Bell”), and nearly the same amount of different positions.

Charlesray Neight was recently appointed to the position of District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks for the State of Louisiana. He was installed at the Elks National Convention held in Houston.

Dave Dunlap, President and CEO of Superior Energy Services, rang the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange on June 6th celebrating 15 years of Superior Energy on the NYSE. Frank Segrave was named the 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Mountain Desert Region of the US for founding Silvergate Pharmaceuticals. In addition, Silvergate was recently named a 2016 Colorado “Company to Watch” by the State of Colorado. This award is given to emerging companies that are leading innovation and economic growth in the State of Colorado. Marc Mouton, the Founder and President of the Louisiana non-profit LifeForce Christian Foundation, is the writer, producer and director of the new faithbased movie project “Arms of Truth” to be filmed on the Northshore in 2017.

Jim Schoen joined Carr, Riggs and Ingram as a Director in June of 2016. He is skilled in a wide range of executive functions within the areas of business development, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, due diligence and research, budgeting and finance.

Jim is concurrently an Ambassador for Jacob Schoen & Son (est.

1874), serving the families of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes. As a 5th generation Schoen, he will continue to build the Schoen brand by helping the community in their time of need.

Kraig de Lanzac, M.D. is a physician anesthesiologist and the founding partner of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medical Consultants practicing at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He also currently serves as the Chief–of-Staff at Slidell Memorial Hospital. He is in his third term as President of the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists and he is an Alternate Director on the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ Board of Directors. He has recently been named Chair of the ASA Committee on the Anesthesia Care Team. He is completing his term as President of the Alumni Board. His wife, Rhen, is a member of the staff of the Alumni and Development Office. His daughter, Mallory, is attending LSU and is a member of the Golden Band from Tigerland. Julio is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of Bridger Logistics, an Oil & Gas midstream company. Last year, Julio led his company to transformative merger with publicly traded Ferrellgas Partners.

Mark Dubuisson, girls’ soccer coach for Louisiana Fire, recently led two teams to State Championships.

Coach Dubuisson’s two U11 Girls teams brought home a pair of trophies from the inaugural Bob Abbott Cup, Louisiana’s State Championship for U11 competitive teams.

Both of his teams went undefeated as his 06G La. Fire LP Red team—a U10 play up team—took home the title in the Sky Blue lower division and his 05G La. Fire CP Red team won the U11 Girls Louisiana State Championship in the top (C1) Purple Division.

Erik Davis is beginning his one-year fellowship training in Interventional Pain Medicine. He graduated from Xavier University 2008 with a BS in Biology and a minor in chemistry. He then completed his residency in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Meharry Medical College.

Jason Jones, MD, has been named Chief Resident at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

D.J. Augustin and the Orlando Magic have reached a four-year contract agreement. D.J. most recently played for the Denver Nuggets, but has spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets over the course of his eight-year career. He has career averages of 9.8 points and 4 assists.

Tyler Scheuermann received the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion. The award was established in 1975 to honor those members of the laity who have contributed their time and talents to the church.

Michael Robichaux is now a Certified General Instructor and Firearms Instructor for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Section of Community Corrections. He continues to reside in Charlotte, NC with his wife Christina and son Patrick Benoit.

Domenick Grieshaber has joined St. Charles Parish Hospital as a pain management physician.

Joey Fontana, a master’s student in geology and geophysics at Kansas University, received the Lee C. and Darcy Gerhard Field Research Student Award. As a graduate research assistant in the Kansas Geological Survey Exploration Services section, Joey has worked with crews gathering seismic data in two regions of the state where catastrophic sinkholes have occurred. He has also worked on a project mapping faults in Oregon and verified the quality of seismic data collected at the U.S. Army’s Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona.

Jordan Cornish, a 6-foot-6 guard who spent the past two years at UNLV, has transferred to Tulane. After sitting out the 2016-17 season under NCAA rules, he will have two years of eligibility left. Jordan, rated a 3-star recruit in 2014 by 247Sports, averaged 5.5 points for the Rebels as a freshman and 6.2 points as a sophomore.

Daniel Lahare, freshman baseball player at Delgado, was named to the 2016 NJCAA Division I Baseball AllAmerica Team. He was named 2nd team All-American as an outfielder.

Jonathan Parker, freshman catcher for Jones County Junior College, was named the 2015-16 Most Valuable Player on his team. He helped lead the Bobcats to the NJCAA Division II National Championship and was named to the all-tournament team for the NJCAA Division II World Series.

Thomas Peters, Southern Miss sophomore majoring in business administration, qualified to represent the US in the javelin in the IAAF World U20 Championships to be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Thomas turned in one of the top performances at the 2016 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships. He placed fifth at the C-USA Outdoor Championship while also qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminary.

Lee Davis received the Academic All- American award from the The Louisiana High School Lacrosse League for Louisiana.

Max Oertling has been named to the 2015-2016 Dexter/USBC High School All-American Team.

Juancarlos Torres received the Prix d’Excellence award from L’Union Française in New Orleans. He was one of 14 students who received this award which recognizes various achievements in the French language. The award is given out to students who have been enrolled in a French language program for at least three years while demonstrating an enthusiasm for the language and culture of France. In addition, they must excel in the study of French with emphasis on oral communication.

2016-2018 Alumni Board of Directors Nominees John A. Anderson IV ’00 - John lettered in baseball and basketball while at Brother Martin. He graduated from the E.J. Ourso School of Business Administration at Louisiana State University in 2005 with a degree in Management and Entrepreneurship. John has been the Owner/Operator of JB’s Bar & Grill in Old Metairie since 2006. In 2011 John began coaching basketball at Jesuit High School and is currently the Head J.V. Coach. John is a 2nd generation alumni; his father John A. Anderson III graduated from St. Aloysius in 1966.

Ryan Bordenave ’94 - Ryan serves as the Retail Attraction Specialist for the DDD. His role is responsible for attracting local, regional and national retail, dining and entertainment concepts to Downtown the retail corridor of Canal Street. He joined the DDD in 2008 and in his time with the organization he has met and toured the city with a multitude of retail companies that have an interest in expanding their presence to include New Orleans. Recent successes were working to bring True Religion, Arhaus and LIVE to Downtown New Orleans. In addition to his work with the DDD, he also serves as the media/sponsorships consultant for NPR member station WWNO 89.9 FM. Prior to his assignment with the Downtown Development District, he worked for General Growth Properties (GGP), which at that time owned and managed Riverwalk Marketplace. He also spent a significant amount of time at the Six Flags property in New Orleans serving in the capacity of Advertising, Promotions and Sponsorships Manager. Ryan is a graduate of the University of New Orleans and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Advertising.

Outside of his corporate life, he is currently renovating a 100 year old New Orleans residence in the Mid-City neighborhood. Within the New Orleans community, he has been involved with the following organizations: 2013 graduate of Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans; 2014 graduate of the CBNO Brian Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum; 2011-2013 Member of the Board of Directors and Vice-chair for the Friends of Lafitte Corridor. Ryan contributes time and resources to the school. In recent years, he has served on the reunion planning committee for his class, has been a career day speaker for the past nine years, supports the annual alumni drive and the senior luncheon, was a founding member of the Crimson and Gold Network and regularly participates as an alumnus during the annual open house.

Ron Brisbi ‘67 SA - Ron grew up in Gentilly and now lives in the West Lakeshore Lakeview area. After graduating from UNO in Business Administration he worked in sales management with national organizations and retired in 2012. Ron has served as president of the Alumni Board and has been on the board for the past 14 years.

Serving as the chairman of the Brother Martin Golf Tournament for many years, the event has experienced tremendous growth and is a major event for the alumni base and friends of the school. Ron has officiated high school football for the past 37 years and is a member of the Greater New Orleans Football Association as well as past president of the Pass Christian/Henderson Point Civic Association. He now has the ‘ideal’ position of varsity golf coach at Brother Martin. With 10 family members graduating from St. Aloysius, Cor Jesu and Brother Martin the Brisbi family has a strong bond to the Brother Martin community.

Mike Broussard ’69 SA - Mike has been married to Debbie for 43 years and has two children Danielle and Kyle ‘97. He is a 1974 graduate of UNO. He is retired USAFR after 23 years and was named 1987 Military “Citizen of the Year” for New Orleans. He recently retired from Allstate after 35 years and now works as a consultant at Sajarati L.L.C. Mike has been a high school football official for the past 35 years. He assists with the Alumni Golf Tournament and the Alumni Seafood Dinner and has been an Alumni Board member for the past 14 years and is a former Parents’ Club Treasurer.

Chuck Camp ’10 - Chuck Camp was a three-year varsity letterman for the Crusaders as well as being involved in many student organizations such as Student Ministry, Student Ambassadors, Student Council and head of the Conlin Crazy’s. He was the captain of the baseball team and received the Crimson Shield Award for Versatility.

After graduation, he remains involved by serving as the Junior Legion baseball coach during the summers. Chuck graduated from LSU with a B.S. in Biology and currently attends Xavier Pharmacy School. Frequently attending many Brother Martin events, Chuck still serves as an ambassador for the school that he loves.

Gregory Corrente ’81 - Gregory is married to Cheryl with one daughter, Katie.

He resides in Metairie and is owner of Corrente & Associates Insurance & Financial Services for the last 27 years. He participates in alumni functions, attends Brother Martin athletic events, he is a Career Day participant and a member of the Crimson & Gold Network. Gregory is involved in the following Organizations at St. Angela Merici Parish Church & School – Past Men’s Club president, School Board Member, Capital Campaign member and Budget Committee member. He is currently a Finance Council Member and reader at Mass.

He is the Past President of the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (NAIFA) Greater New Orleans Chapter, member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and Member of the Year for the Greater N.O. NAIFA Association.

Scot Craig ’80 - Scot is Chef and Proprietor of Katie’s Restaurant. He donates time, food and financial support to various Brother Martin events. He has served as a judge for the annual Crusader Cook-off, he has hosted Crimson and Gold Network socials at Katie’s Restaurant and he recruited James Carville to speak at a CGN event. Scot has participated in Career Day and he sponsors the summer basketball league. He hosted his class’ 35th reunion at Katie’s. Scot regularly attends various Brother Martin events including the Celebration of the Crest, Marty Gras and football and basketball games.

His son, Connor, is in the Class of 2019 and he is a member of the Medical Team for football and he is a basketball team manager. Scot has a great love and sense of pride in the values and education of Brother Martin High School and he is proud to share the story of his school.

Gary Delahoussaye ’74 - Gary has been active with Brother Martin since graduation assisting in a variety of fund raising efforts for his Alma Mater. He has helped coordinate all of his class reunions and is one of the founding members of the Brother Martin High School Fishing Rodeo and also the Crimson and Gold Business Network. He currently serves on the Alumni Board of Directors and continues his service on the Fishing Rodeo committee. Gary has been selling insurance for the past 37 years. Gary has been working with Eustis Insurance and Benefits, LLC for the past 27 years. A second generation insurance man, Gary has significant experience in placing coverage for professional sport teams, medical transportation, food processors, automobile dealerships, investment property, and a wide variety of other commercial accounts. Gary has been married to his high school sweetheart for 35 years and is the proud father of 4 children and 7 grandchildren. In his spare time Gary is an avid fisherman.

Milton Dureau, Jr. ’69 CJ - Milton is the father of Matthew ’99 and Zachary ’04.

He received a B.S. (Chemistry) from Tulane University, 1973 and was employed by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office from 1973-2011. Milton retired from JPSO in November, 2011 (position at retirement was Commander of Laboratory Services which included administration and oversight of Crime Lab, DNA Lab, Crime Scene, Photo Lab and Property and Evidence Divisions – approx. 60 persons). Currently he’s serving as a member of the JPSO Reserve Division assigned to their IT Division. Milton has assisted with the organization and administration of the annual Trey Cullotta Invitational Wrestling Tournament since its inception in 2000. He has been a member of the Alumni Board since 2006. He has been a member of the President’s Dinner Committee since its inception in 2006. Milton has served on the Board of Directors of the Congregation of St. Joseph People Program since 2014 (CSJ People Program is a non-profit organization which provides classes and activities for area senior citizens).

Benjamin Gootee ’01 - Ben earned his B.S. in Building Construction from Georgia Tech in 2005. Ben has been working for Gootee Construction, Inc. since 2006 and currently resides in Lakeview with his wife Ashley and two sons Thomas and Rhett.

In the construction industry Ben participates in the following organizations: ASHRAE, MCAA, and the AGC of Louisiana. Ben is also a member of the Fore! Kids Foundation and enjoys playing golf at Metairie Country Club. Ben has served on the Alumni Board of Directors from 2010-2016 and has helped with the Alumni Seafood Dinners, Homecoming, Open House, and was on the founding committee for the Day at the Races. He also enjoys attending the Golden Crusader Lunches, President’s Dinners, and the Celebration of the Crest.

Chris Kane ’96 - Chris is a partner at Adams and Reese, LLP and practices in the areas of transportation, economic development, business litigation and professional athlete injury claims. He has gained extensive experience and contributed to firm knowledge regarding specialized tax credit and incentive programs, cooperative endeavor agreements, public-private partnership law, economic development law, transportation and logistics legal issues and commercial and corporate litigation.

Chris has assisted clients with expansion, re-location and new development projects totaling more than $250 million and ranging from port infrastructure projects to industrial, commercial, retail, boutique hotel, restaurant and residential developments throughout the Greater New Orleans region. Chris has also been involved in various recovery legal issues since the 2005 hurricanes. He co-founded a not-for-profit corporation designed to specifically assist small business recovery called Desire NOLA, which was recognized by many respected community leaders as a catalyst for small business recovery and breeding ground for many young community and public leaders. Chris has been active with the Brother Martin Crimson and Gold Network, Brother Martin Baseball Alumni efforts, the Brother Martin Golf Tournament, and the Annual Golden Crusader Luncheon. Chris has also served in numerous capacities over the past ten years as a board member or appointed commissioner of, including: Algiers Economic Development Foundation (President), World Trade Center of New Orleans, Young Leadership Counsel (General Counsel), Greater New Orleans Development Foundation, New Orleans Business Alliance Business Development Council, New Orleans Building Corporation and The NexGen Council. Chris is a Crowe Scholar from Loyola University Law School and also holds an M.B.A. from Christian Brothers University where he was awarded the Young Alumnus of the Year Award in 2006.

Beau Keller ’98 - Beau was a two sport athlete participating in varsity football and baseball, and also a member of the 1996 State Championship baseball team. Beau was the recipient of the David “Chubby’ Marks Senior Athlete of the Year award in 1998. He has served on his class reunion committee, serves on the baseball reunion committee and volunteered as a coach on the 8th grade football team in 2014. He currently works for Arkel Constructors as the greater New Orleans area regional manager.

Ben Lambert ’03 - Ben has served on the Alumni Board for the past two years. In addition to serving on the Alumni Board, he also serves on the Brother Martin Golf Tournament Committee and his class reunion committee.

Ben has participated and helped during the AdvancedEd accreditation process for the school. He graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Economics. In 2010, Ben graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law, where he served as President of the Trial Advocacy Program. Ben is currently a Partner at Couch, Conville & Blitt, LCC, a regional law firm based in New Orleans, with offices in six states. He is also the Director of Legal Operations for the Firm. Ben is licensed to practice law in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Victor A. Landry III ’86 - Vic’s father, Victor A. Landry, is a 1951 graduate of St. Aloysius, and his brother Scott (deceased) was a 1977 graduate of Brother Martin. He has four sons, Colin, a new grad, Class of 2016, Chase, a rising sophomore (2019), Christian (2023) and Carson (2025). While at Brother Martin, Vic was a varsity swim team letterman. Vic is an annual participant at Brother Martin Career Day, the Celebration of the Crest, the Alumni Seafood Dinner, Open House, the Golf Tournament, the Fishing Rodeo, Trivia Night and frequently attends football, lacrosse and basketball games. He served on the 30th reunion committee for the Class of 1986 this year. After graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1991, Vic began his professional career in architecture and engineering. Vic has worked for firms as a project manager both designing and overseeing large private and public sector projects. Vic is currently an Operations Project Manager at the US Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District. Vic is married and has four children. His wife, Beth, is also active at Brother Martin as a parent and they reside in New Orleans. He is a parishioner of St. Dominic.

Chad LaRose ’90 - Chad is a Golden Crusader and a David Marks Award recipient. He was named as All-State Quarterback 1988 & 1989 and was a track State Finalist 1987. Chad was part of Phase II of the Brother Martin Capital Campaign; he has served on the Alumni Board from 2006-2008, 2012-present and serves as color analyst for Crusader Football broadcasts. He and his wife, Gina, have three children; Scarlett (5), Giselle (3) and Jocelyn (3 months). They currently reside in Lakeview, New Orleans.

Johnny LeBourgeois ‘ 73 - Johnny, son of Leo M., Sr. ‘SA’38, and father to Christian ‘04, is a past Alumni Board member. He has organized the last seven “Class of ‘73” reunions and several other class gatherings, events and fund raisers. Johnny is a founding member of the Class of ‘73 Culinary Squad and has served the Fishing Rodeo for 12 consecutive years. He was on the Class of ‘73 -First 4 Year Class Scholarship Fund Committee. Johnny is also the namesake of the Class of ‘73’s 2nd Vested Scholarship. Johnny and his wife, Kim, have co-chaired Cajunfest, and he helped for several years as a “special volunteer” for the Cajunfest setup & tear down teams. He has been active in the wrestling program and other school events. Johnny has served on St. Clement of Rome’s Men’s Club as President, V.P. & Treasurer. He also served on the S.C.of R.’s School Board & Co-Op Club Board (Recipient of a “Clem” Award). Johnny recently retired from A.T. &T. after 38 years of working in the Telecom Industry.

Darrell Mipro ’88 - While at Brother Martin Darrell was a pole vaulter on the track team and lettered in his sophomore, junior, and senior season. He also was a member of the track team at the University of New Orleans while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s Degree in Finance. Darrell was the captain of the 1980’s team for the Brother Martin Capital Campaign in 2000 and is also one of the founding members of the Crimson and Gold Business Network in 2007. Darrell has performed much community service as a Scout leader along with coaching softball, baseball and soccer for many years at Plantation Athletic Club.

Current service includes being a member of the Audit / Finance committee for United Way of Southeast Louisiana, the Treasurer/ board member for Lakewood Estates, a section leader in the Krewe of Endymion, and a catechism teacher at St. Andrew the Apostle School. Darrell currently works at Whitney Bank, as a Group Controller performing budgeting, reporting, and analysis across various business units and currently resides in New Orleans with his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Bailey and Bryce. He enjoys staying involved with Brother Martin through attendance of various sporting and alumni events and would like to further serve Brother Martin as a member of the Alumni Board.

Jeremy Mipro ’03 - Jeremy is a native New Orleanian, who has a passion for the city and the communities that have given him so much. He received a degree in finance from LSU, and a MBA from UNO. With 8 years in the banking industry, he currently works for Capital One where he is responsible for the business development and management of large corporate clients in the SE US. Outside of work, he served as chapter president of the Risk Management Association New Orleans Chapter and remains on the board today. Other organizations Jeremy is continued on page 23

Casey Munson ’97 - Casey routinely volunteers at Brother Martin for a number of different events. He currently serves on the Brother Martin Golf Tournament Committee, Crusader Cook-Off Committee as well as the Alumni Board. He is an alumnus of Loyola University and he served as a member of the United States Coast Guard from 2001-2008. Currently, he is employed as Sales Representative for Ferguson Enterprises.

Tom Nenos ’64 SA - Tom earned his BS from Loyola University. Tom is a retired IT Professional having worked as a Systems Analyst/Programmer on IBM midrange Systems. During his career he was employed by Lee Medical International, Blumenthal Print Works, National Marine and Herbert S. Hiller Corporation. Tom is on the Class of 1964 Reunion Committee and a member of the Plus 50 Reunion Committee at the school. Tom recently retired as the Manresa Retreat Group 21 Captain this year after serving the group for 15 years as its Captain. Tom has been a Procurator/Advocate for the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese of New Orleans since 2001. Tom is also a member of the Annulment Writing Workshop Ministry in the Archdiocese. He is a Lector and Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Our Lady of Divine Providence Parish in Metairie. He has served as President of the Pastoral Council and is active in several ministries in his parish. Tom is married to Claudette Kennedy Nenos and they reside in River Ridge. The couple has three children and five grandchildren. Tom is an avid golfer and volleyball player.

John W. Norwood IV ’97 - Johnny was a Golden Crusader recipient. He was a member of the Alumni Board from 2006-2012, and was a large contributor to many alumni functions, including the Alumni Seafood Dinner. He also participates in many alumni events such as Open House, Homecoming, Golf Tournament, Prayer Breakfast, Alumnus of the Year event and Crusader Cook-off. Johnny is an attorney in New Orleans, he is married to Tiffany and is the father of two, Jack (Future Crusader Class of 2027) and Camille (Future Crusader cheerleader). He is very eager to get back on the Alumni Board and to represent his fellow alumni.

Randy Oddo ’62 SA - Randy has been involved in many Brother Martin activities over the years. He has served on the Brothers of the Sacred Heart Alumni Board for the past 10 years, he is the chairman for the Alumni Lenten Day of Reflection and serves on the Prayer Breakfast Committee. Randy is enjoying retirement.

David Pecot ’76 - David has been married to Jeanne for 33 years and he is the father of two daughters, Jeannette, 29 and Suzanne, 27. He works for a local oil company as a territory manager. In his spare time, he’s usually at Brother Martin. David is the 2016 Founder’s Medal recipient. He’s a member of the Alumni Board, he is Fishing Rodeo chairman, he is on the Seafood Dinner committee and he’s participated in the Crusader Cook off. He can be spotted at most Crusader sporting event, home or away games and every level. He is currently an assistant coach for the Crusaders’ 8th grade team. He enjoys fishing and hunting!

Jacob Peters ’06 - Jacob is the Development and Project Assistant at the Bayou District Foundation and is a Youth Development Coordinator for Chicago Fire Juniors Louisiana. He has served on his class reunion committee, participated in the soccer alumni matches and will serve on the Phase III Steering Committee. While at Brother Martin Jacob was an All-District Soccer letterman and a Student Minister.

Louis J. Provenzano Jr. ’90 - Lou was born, raised and still resides in Metairie. He is the son of Iris and L.J. Provenzano ’65CJ. While attending Brother Martin he played offensive tackle for the 1989 AAAA State Runner-Up Football team. He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business from the University of New Orleans. While at U.N.O. he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. Lou has worked for Southern Eagle Sales and Service, a local beverage company, the past 19 years. He is currently a National Accounts Manager for Southern Eagle. Lou is married to Jennifer Doubleday Provenzano and they have two children, Simon and Brooke. He is in his second term as president of St. Christopher Men’s Club. Lou also coaches football and baseball at Cleary Playground. Lou has been on several planning committees for Brother Martin class of 90 reunions. He has participated in the Brother Martin Tailgate Cook-off and Homebrew competition, winning the homebrew competition a few years ago.

Jay Romig ’72 - Jay is an administrative director with the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans. He and his family have been very active in the Brother Martin community over the years. Jay is a Founders’ Medal recipient and received the Golden Crusader as a student. He has supported the Celebration of the Crest: Auction, the Fishing Rodeo, Golf Tournament, Crusader Cook-off and many other events. Jay served on the 201416 Alumni Board.

Scott Shea ’81 - Scott is a Golden Crusader recipient. He is the father of two Brother Martin graduates, Mitchell ’10 and James ’14. He also is the parent of a current junior, Michael ’18. He has served as Co-Chair of the BM Parent Drive for the last four years.

Scott has previously served on the Alumni Board and also served as President of the Alumni Board. He has been an attorney for 28 years and served on the Orleans Parish School Board and the New Orleans City Council.

Chuck Stall ’76 - Chuck and his wife Karen are the parents of 2002 Golden Crusader Chuck and 2007 Crimson Shield recipient William. Chuck is a member of the Brother Martin President’s Dinner Committee, Board Member SACF, Brother Martin Fishing Rodeo Committee and has served on the 2004 Celebration of the Crest Committee, and as past Parents Drive Area Leader. Chuck was 2011 Alumnus of the Year Ellender Award recipient, a 2-time recipient of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society “Outstanding Service Award” 1991, 1993. In 1996 he was the initial recipient of “Amarinys Liriano Contreras Memorial Award” presented by the University of New Orleans.

Pat Stant ’87 - Pat resides in Metairie and is married with three children, Hayley, Mt. Carmel class 2015, Jason, Brother Martin class 2018 and Olivia, future Mount Carmel class 2022. He is the President of McDonough Marine Service. While at Brother Martin he was a Golden Crusader, football letterman, senior captain, track letterman, senior captain, basketball letterman and Honors Diploma Graduate. He served on his class reunion committee and he is the Class of 2018 Parents drive committee rep.

Leni Sumich ‘90 - Leni is a 1994 graduate of Tulane University and a 1998 graduate of the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. He is currently a partner with Eyecare Associates in Metairie, where he has been practicing as a Board Certified Ophthalmologist for the last seven years. He lives in Metairie with his wife Christi and their three children- Jason, Brother Martin Class of ‘17, Hayley, and Kaitlin. Leni is a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Men’s Club Board, coached football and baseball at Pontiff Playground and remains active with the Brother Martin Community. He provides the color commentary for the radio broadcasts of Crusader football games, assists at the Alumni Seafood Dinner and is a current parent. He is has served the past two terms on the Alumni Board. Leni’s grandfather was former St. Aloysius football coach, Andy Douglass.

Scott Walker ’93 - Murrow and Emmy award-winner Scott Walker anchors WDSU News at 4, 5, 6 and 10 p.m. 2016 marks Scott’s 21st year covering news and sports in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Scott joined the WDSU news team in 2009 after anchoring morning and noon newscasts for nine years in Mobile and Orlando. In 2015 and 2016, Scott won an Emmy award, Edward R. Murrow award, National Headliner award and Gabriel award for his stories chronicling former Saint Steve Gleason’s battle with ALS. In 2014, Scott was named one of Gambit’s “40 Under 40”. Scott was named “Best News Anchor” by the Press Club of New Orleans in 2012 and 2013 and earned first place honors from the Press Club and Gambit Weekly for his social media presence in 2012, ’13, ’14 and ’15. Since returning home, Scott has had a front row seat for numerous big events, including the Saints magical run to Super Bowl XLIV and the BP oil disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. During WDSU’s extensive oil spill coverage, Scott made local and national headlines after his confrontation with private security guards trying to limit media access on Grand Isle beach. Prior to WDSU, Scott worked at WESH-TV in Orlando, Florida; WPMI-TV in Mobile, Alabama; WXXV-TV in Gulfport, Mississippi; WLBT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi; and WDAM-TV in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Scott is married, has two boys and resides in Old Metairie. At Brother Martin Scott initiated and led the effort to raise $25,000 for the commissioned Terrance Osborne piece that currently hangs outside the auditorium. He has participated in Career Day nearly every year since 2009, he’s spoken to the senior class about smart social media use and he has been involved in a number of food-related events at the school, usually as a judge, at the Crusader CookOff. Scott was Drama Club president, worked on the yearbook staff, was cut from basketball tryouts four times, and drove Brother Henry crazy in Spanish class.

Campus News Lacrosse Reaches State Finals

Crusader Lacrosse had a terrific season finishing 11-4. New coach, Greg Anderson, who played lacrosse for the University of Maryland, Baltimore, led the Crusaders to two early season wins before capturing The 2016 Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic Championship.

The Crusaders were seeded 3rd entering the playoffs. C.E. Byrd traveled down to play the Crusaders in the quarterfinals where Nicolas Benedetto ’17 helped lead the Crusaders to a 12-6 triumph.

Loyola of Shreveport was the opponent for the semi-finals. Noah Velez ’18 tied the game and then gave the Crusaders a 5-4 lead late. However, Loyola tied the

Steven Shields ’17 helped the Crusader wrestling program take home their fifth straight state title in 2016. He took home a third straight Division I title in the 120pound weight class. He was also named to The New Orleans Advocate’s All-Metro Wrestling team and was awarded the title of “Most Valuable Wrestler” at the 2016 Brother Martin Wrestling Convocation.

Bruce Jordan-Swilling ’17 rushed nearly 2,000 yards and had over 30 touchdowns during the 2015 football season. He is currently a topped-rank player and a college recruit. LHSLL State Academic All American: Lee Davis ’16, honors graduate with a 4.35 GPA with all AP classes and an ACT score of 33.

LHSLL Coach of the Year: Greg Anderson Brother Martin players helped lead the Rogue Lacrosse Summer teams to success in the Big Easy Lacrosse 2016 Classic. The varsity team reached the semi-finals and the Rogue U15 team won their Division. a Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month in September.

Bruce Jordan- Swilling ’17 was named to the MaxPreps Defensive Preseason All-American team and he was named to the “watch list” for the high school Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top prep linebacker. Swilling does not play linebacker for the Crusaders, but will consider playing the position in college.

He will continue to play running back for the 2016 season. Bruce is a top recruit from various colleges including LSU, Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, UCLA, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and Florida State.

Campus News Baseball Blair Frederick ’16 was one out of six male athletes selected to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A All-State team for baseball. Blair, who signed with LSU in the fall, went 7-3 on the mound. He was chosen as a utility player for the team. Blair was a recipient of the “Most Valuable Pitcher,” “Most Valuable Player,” and a “Captain Award” at the 2016 Brother Martin baseball convocation. Last season, he was selected to the All-District team for baseball.

Jake Broggi ’16 and Victor Quinonez ’16 were honored for their achievements in the classroom and on the football field at The Allstate Sugar Bowl Chapter of the National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame 2016 Awards Luncheon in April at the MercedesBenz Superdome. Victor was one out of six recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship.

Tennis The team finished 6th at the All-State Tennis Tournament that was held in Monroe.

The 2016 All-State Regionals Singles Champion Benjamin Chanes ’18 reached the semi-finals.

Track & Field Hunter Appleton ’19 was selected to the 2016 LSWA All-State Track and Field Team.

Campus Junior Retreat

Juniors attended their Class Retreat at St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis.

The Class of 2017 not only prepared for the celebration of Easter, but also for the transition into their senior year as leaders of Brother Martin High School.

Brother Martin once again partnered with the SBP (formerly the St. Bernard Project) in the neighborhoods of Gentilly and New Orleans East, building homes to replace those destroyed by the levee failures during Hurricane Katrina. In April, the faculty and staff at Brother Martin engaged in a day of service with SBP sponsored by Campus Ministry. During the second week of June, it was the students’ turn to do service work with the SBP. Ten rising juniors and seniors worked on one of the houses located at 6029 Vermillion Blvd., which the faculty had previously worked on during the year.

The students laid and grouted a tile floor in a bathroom, installed molding, cleaned, and painted the interior and exterior of the home. Students who participated for the whole week gave 40 hours of service.

Campus News years ago on Tulip St. in New Orleans East. St. Bernard Project’s mission is to shorten the time between disaster and full recovery by ensuring that disasterimpacted citizens and communities recover in a prompt, efficient and predictable manner.

Chase Bell ’16 and Francisco Garcia ’18 participated in the 2015-2016 Crimestoppers GNO Teen Ambassadors Against Crime (TAAC) program. An end of the year celebration was held in June at Brother Martin.

8th Grade Trip Students and faculty traveled to Texas for the annual 8th grade trip. The trip included visits to many attractions in Dallas and San Antonio including the JFK assassination site, VIP tours of the Texas Rangers ballpark and AT&T Stadium.

Students hit a few golf balls at Top Golf and were entertained at Main Event which included bowling, laser tag and arcade games. A visit to Six Flags over Dallas preceded a visit to the Alamo and Sea World in San Antonio. The party enjoyed Schlitterbahn and an evening at the San Antonio Riverwalk.

Summer Camp Brother Martin Crusader Camp came to a close after six weeks of numerous fun-filled activities.

Campers participated in a variety of sports and games including soccer, baseball, basketball, intramurals and flag football.

In addition, several field trips included bowling, trampoline jumping at Sector 6, laser tag and a trip to Global Wildlife on the Northshore.

Susie Newburger and Susan Benedetto are currently attending the International Literacy Conference.

Faculty News A number of faculty members attended professional development opportunities this summer.

Besides acknowledging the willingness of all of these individuals to extend their professional expertise, we are pleased that Lauren Rhodes, Josh Thomas ’97, and Chris Vicknair are currently enrolled in graduate level courses, and congratulate our most recent recipient of her Master’s degree, Cherie Tregre.

Melanie Williams, Don Guidry, Phil Sims ’91, JP Pierre and Tom Heller are enrolled in the Studying Skillful Teaching course, bringing our numbers to 16 teachers enhancing their instructional practice.

Math teachers Patrick McClain and Ryan Gray ’05 participated in subject-related workshops at Tulane University and Billy Rieger has completed the MyMathLab curriculum at LSU. Ryan Skyta, Chris Vicknair and Donnie Midkiff ’03 are attending AP Summer Institutes in Statistics, European History, and Biology, respectively.

Craig Zeller ’02 returns this week from the Computer Science Teachers Association Annual Conference.

Melanie Williams and Mark Bordelon will attend the Learning Forward Staff Development Summer Institute.

Craig Zeller ’02, Jerry Ursin ’07 and Billy Rieger ’95 are registered for the Professional Learning Communities at Work Institute in late July.

Extracurricular Academic Games

Brother Martin’s team ranked second in Sweepstakes (a combined score based on a team’s finish in at least four games played) in the 51st annual Academic Games Leagues of America National Tournament held in Atlanta in April. The team competed in the Senior Division (11th and 12th grades) against others groups from Louisiana, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and West Virginia. Hunter Mathas ’16 was the Equations Individual Champion.

Brother Neal Golden ’57 CJ was recognized for his service to the Academic Games leagues in Louisiana.

Brother Neal has been an important part of Brother Martin’s past teams, but he is also responsible for running the New Orleans Academic Games League and sits on the executive board for AGLOA. Scores of national champions from Brother Martin have played under his tutelage, but he has been a staple of Academic Games in Louisiana for fifty years.

Cheerleaders The 2016-2017 Brother Martin Cheerleading squad spent four days at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) Summer Camp.

Members of the Symphonic Band, Novice Band, and Concert Band impressed 400+ audience members this week in the Tom and Gayle Benson Mall for their annual Spring Concert.

Joseph J. Aguda III ’18 scored a perfect 36 on the ACT. Joseph took the test for the first time as a Duke Scholar, when he was recognized nationally, and again April 2016. Joseph is the son of Dulce and Joseph J. Aguda, Jr. ’88. He attended elementary school at St. Benilde in Metairie and entered Brother Martin in the seventh grade. Joseph is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, the Junior Quiz Bowl Team and Mu Alpha Theta. He attended District Literary Rally the last three years for physical science, geometry, and advanced math. He is also a student recruiter and a member of speech and debate. Outside of Brother Martin, Joseph is a member of Teen C.R.O.S.S. – CYO, the youth & young adult ministry for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, teaches at St. Benilde’s Bible school, and is a member of their CYO. Still debating where to attend college, Joseph participated in Brother Martin’s college run last summer. He has expressed interest in Vanderbilt, Washington University, and Duke. Also still deciding on a college major, he is seriously considering medicine or engineering. Nationally, while the average number of students earning a composite score of 36 will vary from year to year, on average, less than .04 percent of those students who take the ACT earn the top score of 36. The ACT includes tests on English, Math, Reading, and Science.

Each test is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores.

Campus News Alex Lucas ’16 travelled to the Louisiana State Capitol, Baton Rouge, for Pro-Life Day. Rolling Stone interviewed Alex for a documentary being made about the recent surge in pro-life legislation in states around the country. Then, Alex had the honor of meeting Representative Mike Johnson and Representative Frank Hoffman, who authored two of the historic pro-life bills heard in committee that day. Alex has been a most active and vocal presence for the pro-life movement in the past year.

Each year, the Serra Clubs of New Orleans sponsors an award Mass and banquet recognizing outstanding Altar Servers from various parishes in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Recipients received his/her medal and a certificate at a Mass celebrated by Archbishop Gregory Aymond ’67 CJ on April 6, 2016 at St. Rita Church in New Orleans.
