Above Wind Roses show prevailing winds across each of the four seasons. Overall, the prevailing winds across all four seasons are predominantly Southern with each season offering different crosswind orientation. This can boost ventilation in the building from South to North. The building's unique shape also allow for ventilation from any direction to benefit the majority of the spaces. Right Chart provides the temperature range of the site throughout given year. On average, the average temperature in the summer months does not exceed the Comfort Zone, while in the winter months the comfort zone is crossed frequently. Window treatements, and proper insulation can help the temperature within the building stay well within the comfort range. Right Chart demonstrates the average amount of sky cover on the site on a given day. On average, Portland is a relatively cloudy city, with the annual average cloud cover at 65%. River aside, glare is likely not a major factor on the site. Right Average ground temperature in Portland demonstrate possibility for geothermal energy to provide heating to radiant flooring as well as auxillary water heat support to primary system. Right Illumination range in Portland shows potential brightness throughout the year. Ample openings in the winter months to let light in and louvers/blinds in the summer months to limit light input can be useful.

CONCRETE FLOOR SLAB BUILDS HEAT DURING NON-PEAK HOURS AND DISCHARGES IT SLOWLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY, PROVIDING A STABLE HEAT AND LOWERING ELECTRICITY COSTS. CAN PROVIDE COOLING ASSISTANCE TO LOW-MASS RADIANT SYSTEM IN COOLING INTENSIVE DAYS, HOWEVER IT IS NOT AS EFFICIENT. LOW-MASS RADIANT SYSTEM IN CEILING PANELS PROVIDE COOLING. DUE TO THEIR LOW MASS, CEILING TILES REACT QUICKER TO CHANGES IN CONDITIONING NEEDS. CAPABLE OF ASSISTING HIGH-MASS RADIANT SYSTEM IN HEATING INTENSIVE DAYS WHEN NECESSARY. BOTH RADIANT AND OUTDOOR AIR SYSTEMS ARE ASSISTED IN REGULATING BUILDING TEMPERATURE THROUGH VARIOUS ACTIVE AND PASSIVE STRATEGIES, SUCH AS A HEAT RECOVERY SYSTEM, ROOF OVERHANGS, TROMBE WALLS, THERMAL MASSING, AND CEILING FANS. 1/16" = 1'-0" 3 MECHANICAL Radiant Ceiling Panels 1/16" = 1'-0" 4 MECHANICAL Radiant Flooring
