At Brooks Rehabilitation, we believe that recovery goes beyond the initial care a patient receives. For many of the individuals and families that we serve, the real work of rebuilding a life happens in the weeks, months, and years that follow.
While each of the Brooks Community Programs has a unique origin, they share a common theme: Brooks clinicians and staff saw unmet needs amongst our patients and created solutions.
In 2025, Brooks served more than 6,700 unique individuals across Florida through free and low-cost programs spanning recovery and care, innovation and technology, fitness and well-being, and other wraparound services for patients and their families. These programs exist because we know that rehabilitation is not a single event but a long arc of effort and perseverance.
The stories and outcomes in this report represent just a fraction of the lives shaped by these programs each year. Behind each number is a person working toward their highest level of recovery and a team dedicated to making that possible.
Whether you’re a patient, a family member, a partner, or a supporter, you are part of what makes it possible for Brooks to extend care beyond our walls and into the communities we serve.

Lindsey’s life changed in an instant when she experienced a severe seizure while at a hair salon in Pensacola, leaving her with severe right-side hemiparesis, limited speech, and confusion about her surroundings. After being stabilized in the hospital, she was transferred to Brooks Rehabilitation for intensive recovery, where her care team designed a comprehensive therapy schedule spanning speech, physical, and occupational therapy. A turning point came when Lindsey enrolled in the Brooks Aphasia Center’s six-week intensive program. Through therapeutic conversation groups, community outings, and structured storytelling exercises, she made remarkable progress and gradually regained her ability to speak, express emotions, and engage with others. Today, Lindsey continues to inspire those around her with her perseverance and positive spirit. Through programs like the Brooks Aphasia Center, patients are not only regaining their abilities but accessing a community.

While making progress, her therapist wanted to ensure Charlee’s treatment remained focused on meaningful improvements. Charlee transitioned from primarily using a wheelchair to using a walker and knee brace during therapy. To refine/target her treatment, Charlee underwent a motion capture assessments at the Brooks Motion Analysis Center (MAC), which revealed specific hip weakness affecting her stability. The MAC team collaborated with Charlee’s therapist, providing data to optimize her treatment plan. Implementing these recommendations has improved Charlee’s walking ability at home and in her daily life, enhancing her independence. PATIENT STORY
Chloe
Chloe had just finished eighth grade and moved with her family to a new home in north central Florida when everything changed. During her first week exploring the neighborhood, she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bike, sustaining a severe traumatic brain injury. Months later, she arrived at Brooks Rehabilitation ready for intensive inpatient therapy.
After her discharge, Chloe continued her recovery in the Pediatric Day Program while temporarily relocating to Jacksonville to access care. During this time, the School Re-Entry Program ensured she stayed academically connected by coordinating hospital/homebound instruction, initiating services for an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and serving as a bridge between her medical team and school providers so her recovery and education could move forward together.
When it was time to return home, School Re-Entry coordinated a seamless transition between school districts, ensuring Chloe’s supports continued without interruption. Now a high school freshman, she remains on track academically while continuing outpatient therapies, with the goal of returning fully to the classroom. With ongoing support from Brooks, Chloe has regained stability and confidence in what comes next.
