Out of respect, please silence all phones & remove hats, moment of Silence & Pledge of Allegiance Proof of Notice: The agenda was posted on the Brookridge website, at the Administration office, the Clubhouse and emailed to residents on June 23, 2022 - PROOF OF NOTICE ESTABLISHED Proof of Quorum: President Webster, 1st Vice President Duncan, 2nd Vice President Foster, Secretary Metcalf, Treasurer Basteri, Directors Benoit and Steckelberg were present. PROOF OF QUORUM ESTABLISHED. Also Present: Code Enforcement Captain Greg Schubert, Code Enforcement Lieutenant Mike Cope, and Recording Secretary Arlene Ahrens. General Manager Carol Webster was excused. Sign in sheet shows 64 members present.

Taping Notice: Member video/audio taping meeting: zero Approval of Minutes: Approval of May 18, 2022 – Board of Director's meeting - minutes stand as submitted.

Board Correspondence: Letter from Jim Rowe – Motion by Metcalf, seconded by Basteri to allow a Golf Cart Parade on July 4th in Brookridge. Meeting time will be 12 pm at the clubhouse. Also allow fliers and parade routes to be posted at the Administration Office and Clubhouse. residents and outside guests. Vote taken, all in favor (7-0). Jim Rowe – Unit 6 – came to podium and further explained about the Golf Cart Parade.

President's Report: A. Webster – addressed concerns about the March and April Treasurer's report, there was an issue with Quick books, which has been fixed. The audit is still being worked. Reserve study is finished, we are waiting for the hard copy. Liftmaster will be coming in August to start the work on the entry/exit gates.

The database Microsoft Access is dead, we need a new database. Three quotes are being obtained. There will be town hall meetings if necessary.

General Managers Report: None Treasurers Report: May – Basteri – lengthy discussion followed. Terry Johnson – Unit 1 – asked was the amount of $28,000 to Sun Toyota for the new CE truck? He was told yes. Jim Westbrook – Unit 2 – questions about monthly assessments, income, the budget. He also stated that there are other CD's available that will yield a higher interest. Discussion regarding Treasurer's report was then tabled.

Unfinished Business: Swearing in of new Unit Rep – Dianne Steckelberg by President Webster.

New Business: Finance Committee Appointments. Motion by Basteri, seconded by Duncan to approve Daniel Bain, Sandra Kaliscak, Anna Webster, and Tom Woolington to serve on the Finance Committee to create a viable 2022-2023 Budget. Lengthy discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (7-0). The first meeting for the Finance Committee is scheduled for July 8, 1:30 pm at the clubhouse. This is an open meeting, all can attend.

It should take about six months to complete. Duncan – answered a question from the previous meeting regarding gas mileage for the Code Enforcement vehicles. Metcalf – Unit reps do an excellent job; they welcome new members to Brookridge. Their names and numbers are in the News and Views. Rules and Regulations committee have been reviewing a lot of the current rules. Beautification committee is also working on new signs for near the Guard shack. A. Webster – July 4 event from 11am to 2 pm, golf cart parade at 12 pm. There will be food, music, and giveaways. Basteri – Neighborhood garage sale needs a sponsor. Contact her if interested.

Member Comments: Larry Miller – Unit 2 – questions about the Audit, and Reserve Study. Also questioned no license posted at the pool and price of new computer database. Bill Riley – Unit 4 – thank you to the board and Jim Rowe. Inquired why his correspondence does not make it to the board and/or the board president.

Has concerns about speeding. Fantastic job by Patrona for her work on the News and Views.

Jim Westbrook – Unit 2 – the employees are the best; they deserve a $50 bonus. He was told the Ladies of Brookridge will be sponsoring a luncheon for the employees in August. PRESIDENT REPORT BY: Anna Webster

It has been a busy summer here at Brookridge. Our new software/database system is scheduled to start training week of August 8. The goal is to have this system up and running by October 1st.

Liftmaster is going to be delayed until first of September. We have also upgraded DSX from a 200 to a 400 for $800.00. Our DSX 200 is old and the new 400 will be much more efficient. The DSX will be installed with the e xit gates.

Our receptionist resigned suddenly, and we are interviewing for a replacement. Many thanks to Arlene, Vivian and Norma for pitching in and doing double duty.Mike Green has accepted the position of clubhouse manager.

Welcome Mike.

Finance Committee is in the final stages of preparing the 2023 Budget to present to the Board at the September 6th Workshop.

Fall Festival Committee is working hard to make this a great Festival.

The Board will be reviewing and voting on a new system at the guard house. We have three bids, and they will be reviewed before any decision is made by the board. (I can't tell you the outcome as I have no idea.)

Just an observation: As I travel from my home in and out of Brookridge I notice most of the speeders are residents. Please try to be a little more observant of your speedometer and obey the speed signs.

The BCPO Fall Festival Committee is planning several new and fun activities for Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Of course, there will be a Golf Scramble for BCCGA members and BCPO residents and houseguests.

There will be a Cake Baking Contest, Food, Raffles, Share the Wealth, Music and other fun activities for all residents and their guests to enjoy!!

The Veterans Committee will be hosting the annual Toys for Tots boxes in Brookridge again this year.

Drop boxes will be in the Administration Office and Clubhouse.

The Veterans Committee will meet on September 19, 2022 at 11:00 am in Room E of the Clubhouse.

There will be a discussion about Veterans benefits, identify ALL Brookridge Veterans and Wall of Honor.

All toys collected here will be sorted and delivered to children in Hernando County.

Last year toys were delivered to over 3,000 Hernando families.

Fences may be decorative and may be used to mark boundaries, control pets or provide a degree of privacy. Many types of fencing may be found in Brookridge to include chain link, picket and/or ranch style.

All fences require written approval from the ACC and there are some restrictions regarding material, height and placement which need to be considered. Be certain to obtain approval before beginning a fencing project.

When an application receives approval from the ACC, the property owner is given a colorful 8.5” X 11” placard with a capital letter “B” which should be prominently displayed in a front window of the dwelling.

This is intended to show that approval has been received for the project and helps Code Enforcement in the execution of their duties.

REMEMBER… DISPLAY THE “B” Assistance with ACC applications is always available from the Code Enforcement or by contacting me directly at harrycalderbank@tampabay.rr.com.

Many residents of Brookridge live alone and have no one to check in on them. Being in this situation can be very scary. If there is a slip and fall or a medical issue, it could be hours or even days before help arrives.

Thankfully the Hernando County Sheriff has a program to address this issue.

It is called Careline.

Careline is a FREE program for all people regardless of age. When a person wakes up in the morning, they call a special number and let the HCSO that everything is fine.

If the daily phone call is not made, a deputy will be dispatched to your home to perform a welfare check.

Having the peace of mind to know someone WILL come to your home if you are unable to call for help is a very comforting thought.

I encourage all Brookridge residents who live alone or know someone who does to go to www.hernandosheriff.org or call 352-754-6830 and ask for the Careline for further info.

The committee met August 4th for the regular monthly meeting.

Eight members were present, including one new member, Jean Flynn.

Despite the extreme heat, some members are still getting out early in the morning or in the evening to weed and mulch. A special thank you to Karen Keaton and Nancy Lechiara, those two really do a lot of work out there!

The committee requests that Brookridge residents do not plant anything in the median on their own without first consulting with the Beautification Committee. We must coordinate planting with the guys who mow, and therefore we can't guarantee the plants won't be mowed over.

We would like to thank the Ladies of Brookridge for their very generous $500 donation. Thank you to the committee members who have spent at least $180 of their own money in July for mulch and other supplies; and thank you to the guard house staff for their help with the fountain and the rose bushes.

The committee discussed the fact that there are a lot of Veterans in our community. For a lot of the holidays, we display small American flags – the kind that can be stuck in the ground. If you're in Wal-Mart, Lowe's, or other store that has American-made American flags, we would appreciate your donation of one or two. They are inexpensive and would help us out a lot. You can contact Jim Snyder or any other member for those donations. Thank you.

We always welcome new volunteers, especially those who have a love for gardening, knowledge of Florida plants and landscaping, or those who would just like something more to do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jim Snyder, Chairman, at 352-596-1804. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m., at the Clubhouse.

Kings & Queens are a group of couples that play 9 holes of golf Monday afternoons - alternate shot format for the twosome. If you don't have a male/female partner, you may play as two ladies or two gents. If you haven't played yet, it might be a great way to meet your fellow golfers.

This is a fun group. I'm sure you will enjoy it, but don't be too serious, as it is meant to be fun while enjoying our golf course.

Newcomers are always welcome.

The cost to play is $1.00 per couple.

All money is returned to the winners.

It is not necessary to sign up any day, just come to the club ready to play golf.

BY Sue Taylor The ceramic class in Brookridge is open to all residents and neighbors. We have men and woman joining and they are very good for beginners. The beginners are doing some great pieces. I really don't call them beginner's after they finish their first piece.

Everyone enjoys what they are doing, and we all have a great time.

Classes are Fridays & Saturdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm you can come & go any time within those hours. There is a fee to join, but that includes all paints, brushes, glazes, sealers, coffee, water, snacks.

We now are starting to do painting that has to be fired.

Who can believe that we are into September already? This year is whizzing by.

Some of our snowbirds will be starting back.

Friday Night Bingo is doing well. Of course, we are always in need of Volunteers. We especially are looking for Callers. If anyone wishes to learn how to be a caller, please come up to the Clubhouse on a Friday night and speak to Ellie Colasanti. Can always use Floor Workers too.

We will be having our next meeting on September 12th at 11:00 am in room D. We will be forming a nominating committee to bring us a slate of officers. We will need someone to run for President as President Colosanti is stepping down. Anyone wishing to hold any position on the board is welcome to run. It is time for some new blood, so I hope some of you will consider this.

Our class is for Brookridge residents and their houseguests (Sorry, no children).

The cost is fifty cents per class and the first class is free!

Class starts at 8:30 am and runs to 9:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Classes start with low impact aerobics followed by stretch and tone; weights; and either mats or chairs. The class ends with a balance circle.

Weights and mats are available if you don't have your own. Come have fun with us!
