CALL FOR CANDIDATES If you are interested in running for the Brookridge Board of Directors or Unit Representatives; please visit the Brookridge Administration Office for a Volunteer Application. The deadline for submission to the Brookridge Administration Office is Monday, November 1, 2021 no later than 4:00 pm. All candidates must be BCPO members and Board candidates must be year-round residents of Brookridge. Unit Representative candidates are preferred to reside full time in Brookridge.
2022 ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING AGENDA Members may submit, in writing, items they would like to be considered for the 2022 Annual Membership Meeting Agenda. Please submit items to the Administration Office no later that Monday, October 4, 2021 by 4:00 pm. Topics will be placed on the Board of Director's Agenda at the Wednesday, October 20, 2021 BCPO Board of Directors Meeting.
CLUBHOUSE NEWS COVID UPDATE: 1. Free drive thru COVID Testing by Physicians Stat Lab will resume on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 9:00 am in the Clubhouse Parking Lot. This will continue on the 4th Thursday of each month as needed. 2. Masks are Optional for residents and their guests who have been vaccinated. Mandatory for those who have not been vaccinated. This is for inside all Brookridge Buildings MEDICAL EQUIPMENT: Brookridge does have donated medical equipment that can be loaned to our residents. This equipment can be borrowed from the Clubhouse by contacting the pool monitor. Also, equipment can be donated to Brookridge by brining it to the Clubhouse and speaking with a monitor.

President's Report: Read by President Jerry Foster Unfinished Business: Motion by Metcalf, seconded by V. Stratton to appoint Roberta Brodeur and Thomas Freyman to Health Advisory Committee. Discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). Advisory Committee – Motion by Metcalf, seconded by Basteri to appoint Steve Pasono, Mike Heffernan and Mike Green to advisory committee. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). New Business: ACC Changes - Motion by R. Stratton, seconded by Metcalf to update ACC guidelines Article 3, Section 3.05 Driveways – Explanation by ACC Chair Harry Calderbank - wording was cleaned up "15 foot" was eliminated, "concrete and/or pavers" was added. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). ACC Changes - Motion by R. Stratton, seconded by V. Stratton to update ACC guidelines Article 3, Section 3.31 Jacuzzis/Hot Tubs – Explanation by ACC Chair Harry Calderbank – lengthy discussion followed. Motion by R. Stratton, seconded by Metcalf to table motion. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). ACC will gather further information regarding this requested change. New club formation – Motion by Metcalf, seconded by R. Stratton to approve new club "Steak Shoot". Residents Joann Shephard & Elizabeth Rodier gave explanation of new club. Lengthy discussion followed - Motion by Metcalf, seconded by V. Stratton to table this motion, vote taken, all in favor (6-0). The board will meet with the club members for further discussion. Report of Directors: - V. Stratton – Father's Day Poker Run June 21. $5 entry fee. Metcalf – Beautification bought more plants for medians Ernie Patterson has been hard at work watering the new plants. R. Stratton – front sign looks good, there will be another garage sale, maybe 2-3 per year. Member Comments: Rebecca Reynolds – Unit 3 – concerns about an open pipe near her house, she was told to send pictures. Kathy Smrtic – Unit 3 – concerns about her neighbor's property – there are not gutters on his home and during a storm the water washes into her yard. She was also told to send pictures. Motion by Hoose, seconded by Metcalf to approve bid from Azzarelli Paving for $136,145.00 for year 7 of 10-year paving plan. Discussion followed. All in favor (7-0). Motion carried New Business: Finance Committee – Motion by Hoose, seconded by Metcalf to appoint Ken Sajdak to the Finance Committee. All in favor (7-0). Beverly Epstein is unable to serve on the Finance Committee this year. Report of Directors: Keller- He will be meeting with Brookridge Golf Association. V. Stratton – Sunday is the Father's Day Poker, first cart to leave will be 2:30. There will be no food truck, but there still will be music and dancing afterwards. Metcalf – will be working with the Unit Reps, and will be handling the new resident packages. She has "volunteered" Rosemary Basteri to help her. Beautification committee is down to three people, help is needed to water the plants on Brookridge Blvd. R. Stratton –Karaoke at the clubhouse on June 17 from 7 to 9 pm. Men's club will be holding garage sales on September 18, 2021, January 15, 2022 and April 16, 2022. October 23, 2021 there will be a Halloween Dance, December 11, 2021 will be breakfast with Santa 8 am to 11 am. Continued on Page 9 PAGE 8

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING - CONTINUATION Minutes of Wednesday, June 16, 2021 Member Comments: Jackie McCabe – Unit 6 -She is president of Ladies of Brookridge, there will be a bring your own brown bag lunch and meeting on June 21, 2021 at 1 pm. The Ladies of Brookridge will also be holding a garage sale, date to be determined. Fred Haberkost – Unit 6 – Great to see Jerry at the meeting. The tv channel needs to be updated, sometimes it is hard to view. Concerned about a man on a golf cart leaving the park. Code Enforcement Lieutenant John Lukeivic informed him that the "No Golf Carts beyond this point" is a State of Florida sign, so Brookridge would not have any liability if this man ignores the sign. Ray Agle – Unit 6 – he has noticed a lot of golf carts with no numbers on them, if there are violations by the drivers, there is no way to enforce it. Jane Randall – Unit 3 – why doesn't Security have golf carts to drive instead of cars? 1st VP Metcalf replied that golf carts can be expensive and it would not be worth it in the long run. Code Enforcement Lieutenant John Lukeivic also said that golf carts aren't practical. At night, it might be 28 degrees out. Or if it is pouring, there is no protection. Vince Pizzo – Unit 3 – the cost for golf cart repair can get expensive. Vince also informed everyone about the July 4th party at the club house. 11 am until "whenever" There will be food. A band at 1 pm. Raffles and Share the Wealth. The curtains on the stage will be cleaned on site for $ 2,092.50. The railings at the Pavilion should be installed by July 4. Thank you to everyone that donated to the installation of the railings. Golf carts should not park or drive on the grass by the Pavilion, there is a golf cart path. Motion by Keller, seconded by V. SECURITY CAPTAIN'S REPORT By Greg Schubert
Many residents of Brookridge live alone and have no one to check in on them. Being in this situation can be very scary. If there is a slip and fall or a medical issue, it could be hours or even days before help arrives. Thankfully the Hernando County Sheriff has a program to address this issue. It is called Careline. Careline is a free program for all people regardless of age. When a person wakes up in the morning, they call a special number and let the HCSO know that everything is fine. If the daily phone call is not made, a deputy will be dispatched to your home to perform a welfare check. Having the peace of mind to know someone WILL come to your home if you are unable to call for help is a very comforting thought. I encourage all Brookridge residents who live alone or know someone who does to go to www.hernandosheriff.org or call 352-754-6830 and ask for the Careline for further information. This office is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 am daily. Again, Careline is a free service and available to everyone so please take advantage of this service.

The Beautification Committee would like to thank everyone who has donated money so we can purchase plants, soil, fertilizer, etc. We are proud of our community and want to keep it looking nice. The committee is funded by donations only. Donations are always appreciated so we can continue our projects that include the Guard Shack landscaping, the front sign area, and all planting beds along the Boulevard. Donations can be made by check payable to BCPO with “Beautification Committee” noted in the memo section of the check and deliver it to the Administration Office. We always welcome new volunteers, especially during the summer months when the snowbirds on the committee have gone north. We're getting plenty of rain this summer to keep the beds watered, but lots of rain makes for lots of weeds. We can always use some extra help with weed-pulling. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jim Snyder, Chairman, at 352-596-1804. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 am at the Clubhouse. HEAT EXHAUSTION / HEAT STROKE R Heat Exhaustion happens when your body gets too hot along with poor hydration. As temperatures rise, your body produces sweat to stay cool. On hot humid days, the increased moisture in the air slows down this process. R When your body can't cool, your temperature rises and you can become ill. R If you don't treat heat exhaustion, it can lead to heat stroke. R Heat Stroke (Medical Emergency) occurs when your internal temperature reaches at least 103 degrees. R Heat stroke is much more serious than heat exhaustion. Heat stroke can cause shock, organ failure, or brain damage. In extreme cases heat stroke can kill you. R Whenever you are outdoors keep hydrated. A heat index of 90 degrees or higher calls for extreme caution. R Prolonged exposure to high temperatures increases your risk of heat-related illnesses

WHAT TO DO IF THIS HAPPENS R Get out of the heat quickly & into a cool place, or at least shade. R Lie down & elevate your legs to get the blood flowing to your heart. R Take off any tight or extra clothing. R Apply cool towels to your neck, armpits, and groin or take a cool bath. R For Heat Exhaustion - Sip small amounts of cool fluids, such as water or a sports drink. (No caffeinated drinks or alcohol.)
R If symptoms do not improve seek medical care (Call 911). R For Heat Stroke - Seek Medical Emergency care (Call 911) if you display signs and symptoms of heat stroke or if symptoms do not improve. R If suspect “Heat Stroke” DO NOT give anything to drink.

This is a group of couples that play 9 holes of golf, alternate shot format for the twosome. If you don't have a male/female partner, you may play as two ladies or two gents. No handicap is required as we draw games to determine the winners. If you haven't played as yet, it might be a great way to meet your fellow golfers. This is a fun group. I'm sure you will enjoy it, but don't be too serious, as it is meant to have fun while enjoying our golf course. Newcomers are always welcome. The cost to play is $1.00 per couple. Thanks to our volunteer Ice Cream scoopers and the ladies who supplied the great variety of toppings. Tuesday Night Bingo has resumed. We hope to increase the number of participants. As with any group, volunteers are needed to help out: weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or any time your schedule allows. We wish to welcome all our new members and encourage other Brookridge residents to join us. We offer friendship and fun combined with Community Outreach.

Hello. Yes Ceramic Classes are open to everyone! We are really having a great time. I have been posting some of the classes great ceramic pieces that they have brought to life.
Psalm 146:2 states; "While I live I will praise the LORD; I will sing praises to my GOD while I have my being."
Remember there are yearly dues to join and that will be each year, no matter if you come in January or July. Included in your dues all paints, paint brushes, supplies, radio, refrigerator, microwave, coffee, tea, water and snacks.
Psalm 147:1 the Bible says, "Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our GOD;..."
I have some nice ceramic pieces that you can buy in class. I would like to let you all know that the ceramic pieces that are for sale in class are purchased with your dues. You in turn buy them and I now have monies to buy more. Classes are Fridays & Saturdays every week 9AM to 2PM. You may come & leave anytime within these hours. You can reach me at 352-340-9622. “Almost Harvest” and “Harvest Home” summer ends. Fall harvest comes – Israel had 2 Harvests – First for grain; wheat and Barley reaped in June; the second for tree and vine fruits in October. Feasts were to thank God for their harvest and to rest. Ex 23:16. Jesus speaks of a final Harvest in Mathew 13:39 “The harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels”. Rev 14:15-17 They use sickles to gather: Matt. 13:38 -“Good grain” saved of earth – born of good seed – children of the kingdom. And the Tares-lost children of the wicked one. Line Dance Lessons are open to residents of Brookridge and non-residents. All are welcome. Come join us. Cher Mason's Improver/Intermediate class is on Tuesdays from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Cost is $6.00. Marilyn Richardson's Beginner/Improver class is on Thursdays from 9:30 am to 11:00am. Cost is $5.00. The first 45 minutes are Beginner Dances followed by a 5 minute break and 40 minutes of Improver dances.
Our Line Dance Social is on Saturday, September 11th from 6:30 pm to !0:00 pm. Bring your own snack and beverage. Casual attire. No open back sandals. All area Dancers are invited. Tickets are $5.00. Increasing evidence supports the idea that gardening can control age-related weight gain as well as improve sleep. My neighbor calls it dirt therapy. Gardening improves health and can also help people cope with dementia, depression, and even the emotions surrounding terminal cancer. The size of the garden doesn't matter. Even keeping house plants alive can increase productivity and lower blood pressure. Exercising with friends also works wonders. Our class is for Brookridge residents and their house guests (Sorry, no children). The cost is fifty cents per class and the first class is free! Class starts at 8:30 am and runs to 9:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Classes start with low impact aerobics followed by stretch and tone; weights; and either mats or chairs. The class ends with a balance circle. Weights and mats are available if you don't have your own. Come have fun with us! If you have any questions, please call our leader, Karen Keaton, at 592-9737. October 2nd kicks off our 2021/2022 Dance Season with our “Fall Festival” Dance from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. at the Brookridge Club House 8150 Hampton St, Brooksville. Retro Express will be performing with dance music from the 50's to the 80's. I know it's been a long time but I hope everyone has their dancing shoes and is ready to get the party started. Casual Dress, BYOB – Coffee and Ice provided. Limited tickets will be available at the door for $7 per person, tables of up to 10, bring your friends. Our snowbirds will be returning and we will hope to see everyone there. There are some season tickets still available with varied plans. We are planning a New Years Eve Dance and catered dinner, so reserve your spot ASAP. We hope you can all have a good time once again. We are a “Sewing for Charity” group and welcome everyone at our workshop every Thursday, 9:00 am -11:00 am in Room D at the clubhouse. If you prefer to do our projects at home, it is perfectly okay. We sew, cut out simple patterns, tie small quilts, stuff pillows, sew gowns, and have a good time. All we need is you. We need donations of Christmas fabric, 2 yards of fleece, 1” elastic, ¾” sew-on Velcro, stuffing for pillows, clean sheets and pillow cases for hospice gowns and bibs. We do have some supplies on hand but not enough to carry us for the whole year. Items are furnished free to various organizations and anyone in Brookridge who has a need.
