PRESIDENT REPORT
BY: Anna Webster
First, I want to apologize for the horrible Workshop meeting of September 6th. I take full responsibility for the debacle it turned into. When I was elected President, I vowed I would not have a meeting that was like the last two terms. I failed. Please forgive me. As your President, I and the Board are trying to do the best job we can for the residents of Brookridge. As I said to the residents at that meeting, “This job does not come with an Instruction Manual”. We are just like you sitting out there, we are the same and all are equal. I make mistakes and perhaps my meetings are not exactly acceptable in some circles, but I get the job done with help of this board and the Brookridge Staff. It has been a busy month working with the Finance Committee to present the 2023 Budget to the Board.
The Board voted to hire Gate Sentry for the guard house. This will allow residents to monitor their own guest list. This program will continue to make Brookridge a much safer place to live. There will be more information as to the use of this new system. Start up date is scheduled for September 27th.
Channel 732 is not working due to Spectrum issues down the line. They are working to correct this issue.
The Fall Festival Committee is hard at work to make this the best Fall Festival for our residents. Please reserve November 19th 10:00 am - 3:00 pm to come and join your neighbors.
Thank you, Ann Webster, BCPO President

Brooksville gets an average of 52.5 inches of rainfall each year. Dealing with that much water requires attention to detail to prevent damage. BCPO Deed Restrictions require all lots be covered with grass, sod or xeriscape material to prevent erosion.
Pool owners must ensure proper drainage of their pool and prevent water from draining onto or damaging neighboring lots.
ACC Guidelines require that drainage must be constructed and/or directed so that it does not adversely affect neighbors. Water should be directed to flow toward the roadway whenever possible.
Our governing documents require roof gutters on all structures and retaining walls, swales, berms or underground installation may be necessary to control water flow. If initial drainage plans do not work and neighbors are adversely affected, it is the member's responsibility to take and pay for any necessary corrective action,

SECURITY CAPTAIN'S REPORT
By Greg Schubert
I would like to take an opportunity to pass along some crime prevention tips everyone should be mindful of:
1. Always lock the doors and windows of your home when you are leaving the house.
2. Always lock your vehicle even when it is in your driveway or carport.
3. Never leave valuables in your vehicle. Take electronic devices, GPS units etc. into your home when not in use.
4. Never leave money or spare change visible inside your vehicle.
5. Let a neighbor or friend know when you will be away on vacation so they can take in your mail.
6. If you will be away for an extended period of time, fill out a vacation card at the office with updated contact information.
7. Don't leave valuable items (i.e. lawn mower, BBQ grill) outside when you are not going to be home.

The Brookridge Men's Club will be helping with the Fall Festival on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at the BCPO Clubhouse.
The Men's Club is planning some fun and exciting events for the end of the year and going into 2023, read the News & Views.
All men of Brookridge are invited to attend the meeting on the last Wednesday of the month on the 26th at 3:00 pm at the Pavilion.
There is also an Executive Board meeting the week before the regular meeting, (October 19th at 3:00 pm) at which the Board of Directors discuss up coming events and new items of interest. Hope to see you there!!
The committee met September 1st for the regular monthly meeting.
By the time you read this article, we hope the extreme heat is behind us. It's been tough getting out there in the heat to weed, pick up cigarette butts and other trash, bur we have a great group of volunteers working hard to get it done. Please help us keep Brookridge beautiful by not littering.
Thank you to the residents who have donated the small American Flags. We always welcome more of those. They will be used for appropriate holidays. If anyone is interested in donating flags, please contact Jim Snyder or any other Beautification Committee member. Also, we always depend on monetary donations for mulch, fertilizer, weed killer, etc.
We always welcome new volunteers, especially those who have a love for gardening, knowledge of Florida plants and landscaping, or those who would just like something more to do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Jim Snyder, Chairman at 352-596-1804. Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 am in the Clubhouse.
Donations can be made by check payable to BCPO with “Beautification Committee” noted in the memo section and delivered to the Administration Office, or give to any member of the Committee.

EVENING
BY BILL HARTMAN BIBLE STUDY
Interested in learning about the Bible Come to the Clubhouse Room C. We meet each Wednesday Evening 6:00 pm to 7:00pm. The fellowship is for everyone. You can ask questions and we will find answers together.
The end of time is approaching. If you haven't learned already, there is only one way to survive? Believe in Jesus Christ NOW, once the present dispensation of grace is over your opportunity of living eternally with God will be gone.
Words to know: 1 John 1:1-4 (KJV) “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.”

Florida After Labor Day
Chris Lucka Brookridge Writers' Group
After Labor Day picknickers abandon parks and camps. No hot dogs or hamburgers sizzle on iron-pedestal grills tended by pot-bellied men in tropical-print swimsuits, sipping from frosty beer cans insulated with foam holders. No children wait for lunch while building castles at the beach, toss Frisbees or corn-hole beanbag sacks.
Swimmers, sail boaters, jet-skiers, fishermen retreat. Waves continuously lap, like the heartbeat of the lake, leaving wood storks, snowy egret, ibis, mottled ducks tending their liquid home.
One lone, loving couple recline on beachfront porch rockers silently watching night descend. The pallid moon's face reflects shiny gold ripples, a glittering path to heaven.

FRIDAYNITE BINGO
by Jackie Bolt
Welcome to Fall!! Hopefully the weather will start to cool down some and we can start to enjoy some really nice days.
By the time of this reading, we should have the slate of officers for the coming year, if we don't already have our new officers in place. We also hope that we will be some new faces joining us on Friday Nights to help with volunteering. We still need callers, floor workers, and would also like to see if we can get some people to help work the kitchen. It is a hard job to have do alone and Miss Ellie has been doing an incredible job but could use the help. So perhaps some of you will consider jumping in and helping out and making the workload easy. You would only have to work once a month. That goes for all positions.
Wishing all of you a Happy Halloween! Don't let anyone spook you now!

EXERCISE GROUPEXERCISE GROUP
by Linda Hartman
Studies have shown that maintaining regular physical activity can help prevent many common diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. Exercise produces endorphins (the “feel good” hormone), which act as a stress reliever and leaves you feeling happy and satisfied. Regular physical activity and fine-tuned motor skills also benefit cognitive function.
Our class is for Brookridge residents and their houseguests (Sorry, no children). The cos is fifty cents per class and the first class is free! Class starts at 8:30 am and runs to 9:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Did you notice anything different? We've changed our name and did so just in time to welcome our snowbirds and Canadian friends back from the soon-to-be-frozen north. And we have a nice welcome planned.
We will start October with a nice spread of wine, cheese and fruit on Sunday October 9th. We will be supplying the wine, and members are encouraged to bring cheese, fruit and crackers to share. We're looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
We have a little gambling planned for our second gathering, so bring along $3 in dimes on the 23rd and plan to enjoy an evening playing Show Me the Money. Yvonne will host this fast moving, easy to learn card game.
Our two monthly meetings take place in the south hall of the Clubhouse. We have now reinstated the $2.00 per night donation. Those dollars help us put on these events.
October also is the month we start up our weekly Tuesday afternoon bowling. Germaine will begin hosting this activity starting Oct. 11th. We bowl at Strike City on Mariner Boulevard. Just show up ready to bowl. The fun starts there at 2:00 pm.
Our monthly luncheon will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 20th at Sonny's BBQ on Route 19. Be sure to let Bernice know if you plan to attend.
We have lots more fun activities planned for this fall and winter so plan to get involved. You can also follow us at “Brookridge Singles” on Facebook. Be sure to click on “Like.” Our club is open to all single residents of Brookridge. If you have any questions or comments, call Debby Burns at 980-613-0395
