BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING Minutes of Wednesday, December 15, 2021 Call to Order: Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 7:01 p.m. Out of respect, please turn off all phones & remove hats / Moment of Silence & Pledge of Allegiance Proof of Notice: The agenda was posted on the Brookridge website, at the Administration office, the Clubhouse and emailed to residents on December 10, 2021. PROOF OF NOTICE ESTABLISHED. Proof of Quorum: President Foster, 1st Vice President Metcalf, 2nd Vice President Basteri, Secretary Stratton, Treasurer Hoose, and Director Stratton were present. General Manager Carol Webster was excused. PROOF OF QUORUM ESTABLISHED. Also Present: Code Enforcement Captain Greg Schubert, Recording Secretary Arlene Ahrens, Facilities Manager Vince Pizzo. Sign in sheet shows 40 members. Taping Notice: Member video/audio taping meeting: 1 Approval of Minutes: Approval of November 17, 2021, meeting minutes - minutes stand as submitted. Board Correspondence: None President's Report: Foster – Update on the roof, it is almost finished. ACC needs volunteers. Friday night bingo needs help. January 12th, there will be an RV compound meeting at the clubhouse from 10 am to 12 pm. General Managers Report: General Manger Webster was not present. Recording Secretary Arlene Ahrens reminded everyone that if they wish to continue to remain on ACH for the monthly HOA fees, they need to fill out a new form and drop it off at the Administration office. Treasurers Report: November's report - Hoose Unfinished Business: None New Business: Code of Ethics – Motion by Basteri, seconded by Metcalf to approve Code of Ethics for BCPO and adopt the Code of Ethics into the governing documents. Lengthy discussion followed. Basteri then amended her motion to table this item for further review and discussion. Seconded by Metcalf. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). ACC Guidelines – Article 3 – Section 3.24 Screening of RV Ports/Car Ports. Motion by Foster, seconded by V. Stratton to approve ACC changes as submitted. (Insert: All screening material (except live screening) must be attached directly to the carport). Letter read by Paul Campbell (Unit 2) from ACC Chair Harry Calderbank. Discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). ACC Guidelines – Article 3 – Section 3.13 Fences –Motion by Foster, seconded by Metcalf to approve ACC changes as submitted. (Add: (h) All fences parallel to side property lines must be placed no more than 12 inches from property line. (i) Lattice panels may not be used as fencing material). Lengthy discussion followed. Foster then amended his motion to table this item for further review and discussion. Seconded by Metcalf. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). Veteran's Committee – Motion by Basteri, seconded by Metcalf to establish a permanent Veteran's Committee, overseeing all Veteran's Activities, and appoint Sandra Komst and Gilles Lanctot to the Veteran's Committee. Discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). Gilles Lanctot – Unit 3 – Wreaths Across America will take place on December 18 at Bushnell as well as other National Cemeteries. RV Compound –changes to Rules and Regulations – Motion by Foster, seconded by Metcalf to approve the changes to the Rules and Regulations that pertain to the RV Compound. Lengthy discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). Report of Directors: Hoose – Happy Holidays to everyone. Metcalf – spoke about Unit Reps.Friday night Bingo has gotten off to a slow start. She is hoping that it will pick up in February. Beautification – the Christmas lights look great. Foster – RV Committee meeting on January 12. ACC meets 2nd and 4th Monday, volunteers are needed for ACC, submit resumes to Administration office if interested. There were 21 applications at the last meeting. AVRC had 4-5 cases to be heard. Rosemary Basteri – Unit 4 – Sunday, December 19 is the Christmas concert by the Music-aires from 3 pm to 5 pm. All are welcome. Rich Stratton – Unit 3 – Breakfast with Santa went well, the ticket sales were slow at ﬁrst, but then they did sell out. Mr. Dees donated a home-made rocking horse. The children had fun. Gail Metcalf – Unit 6 – the Christmas decorations were refurbished by Ron Musacchia and Bruce Behrens. Vince and his staff did a beautiful job decorating the Clubhouse. The tree with the blue lights is for all past residents. Three residents who were past board members have passed away. They were Carol Levesque, Ed Kolbe and Eileen Smith, they will be missed. A list of the numerous committees and events were read by Gail Metcalf for Carol Levesque, Jacquie McCabe for Eileen Smith and Jim Snyder for Ed Kolbe. Bill Riley – Unit 4 RV committee – the rules and regulations are a work in progress. He feels all ACC changes should go before the ACC for review. He also mentioned Roberts Rules about who can address the board at meetings. Allen Reynolds – Unit 3 – concerned about speeding and people not stopping at stop signs. Ron Ross – Unit 6 – regarding contractors parking on the grass, they should not be doing it. Val Stratton – Unit 3 – The Social Dance decorators did a great job decorating, anyone who attends the New Year's Eve dance will see the decorations. Allen Reynolds – Unit 3 – can the Hernando County Sheriff do anything about speeders in the Community? David Fagan – Unit 1 – the Men's Club had purchased 100 stuffed dolls for Breakfast with Santa but had 65 left after the event. They brought them over to the Marines Corp headquarters and donated them to the Toy for Tots campaign. To Anna Webster, Patrona Turman and the extremely hard-working committees for our “Swing Into Spring Tea; a social gathering of our members, guests and gentleman friends with delicious food, prizes, giveaways and fun. We enjoyed a display of beautiful ladies' hats. When doesn't a gaily adorned chapeau not shout – “ Spring”!! Also, a special thanks to Central High's JROTC Cadets-our servers and to those who donated to our very successful Chinese Auction. The Ladies of Brookridge say THANK YOU to the Brookridge Men's Club for their attendance and donation. The entertainment by Shelia & Peter was just fabulous!! Thank you to the Dawn Center representative who spoke at our February meeting about the functions, needs and goals of the Dawn Center. Don't forget about our upcoming Board of Directors elections and the formation of important committees. If you wish to be considered, please submit a resume to our Election Committee. Our next members meeting is March 21st at 1:00 pm. Teri Tutten, Senior Life/Legacy Assurance representative will speak brieﬂy about savings on ﬁnal expenses.

The Men's Club has been busy with a very successful Yard Sale chaired by Loren Williams in January. A big THANK YOU to all that participated. More than 8 members and their partners enjoyed attending the “Sing Into Spring Tea” While attending the Ladies of Brookridge Tea, a donation of $250.00 was made towards the ﬁne event. A $250.00 donation is being made to the Beautiﬁcation Committee Look for our AD on page 38 announcing the Derby Night Race, April 6th in the Clubhouse 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. See you there!!! PAGE 9

The message for this month: Please use patio blocks, wood and or stone gravel to put under your RV tires to protect them from sinking in the sand. Everything should be no higher than the ground around it and be moveable to keep site clean. SECURITY CAPTAIN'S REPORT By Greg Schubert

Security and Code Enforcement field questions on a wide variety of problems and concerns on a daily basis. One question we get most often is issues with trash or recycling pick-up, specifically late or missed pick-ups. Every property owner pays a small fee to Hernando County for garbage service. Hernando County has contracted with Republic Services for trash and recycling throughout the county. Republic Services strives to do their best on a daily basis but unfortunately problems do arise. Brookridge does not get notified of contingency plans put in place by Republic Services. If you have questions regarding late or missed garbage pick-up, please call Republic Services directly at 1-727-868-2566. Security/Code Enforcement is available 24 hours a day to assist the residents of Brookridge and knowing who to call is half the battle.

BROOKRIDGE BROOKRIDGE CERT Our March meeting of this year for Brookridge CERT will be March 2nd the ﬁrst Wednesday at 10 am. (3/02/2022). Members of CERT will be discussing what plans have been made with the county to rebuild the CERT group to prepare Brookridge CERT for any required emergency activities in the coming year. New administration has produced new activity at the county level which will help strengthen and train CERT volunteers to bring CERT up to current year readiness for any possible disaster to our community. The family of Eileen Smith, (Dellrose Ave.) will be honoring her life in a celebration to be held on Saturday March 19th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Lunch to be served at noon. Eileen moved to Brookridge in 1995 with her husband Garry, and together they enjoyed the many social opportunities Brookridge has to offer, including participating in Camping Club, and involvement in Brookridge Community Property Owners. After Garry's death in 2001, Eileen dedicated her time to a number of social and charitable organizations, holding offices in many. The Brookridge organizations that she was involved in include:

•Red Hatters •Tai Chi •Camping Club •BCPO •FISH

Eileen was also involved as a eucharistic minister at St. Anthony The Abbot Catholic Church in Brooksville. She was involved in St. Anthony's Women's club, and was actively involved in Hernando County Hospice, and as a grief counselor. Eileen was an avid reader, proliﬁc knitter (crochet as well), and ﬁercely loyal friend. She lived her faith and never stopped learning. If you were fortunate enough to share time with Eileen during her life, please join her children on March 19th to share memories and fellowship.

Our St. Patrick's “Land of Luck” dance will be March 5th from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. at the Brookridge Club House, 8150 Hampton St. in Brooksville. The “New Relics” will be performing with dance music from the 50's to the 80's. Casual Dress, BYOB – Coffee and Ice provided. Our April Showers dance will be April 2nd with “Angelo” performing. Tickets will be available at the door for $7 each. There are some season tickets still available with varied plans. The Singles will be spending our March meetings outdoors. On March 13, we'll be meeting at the shuffleboard courts next to the Clubhouse for a few lively games of shuffleboard. It's a fun game to play and easy to learn. Then, on March 27 we will gather on the other side of the Clubhouse for a couple games of Bocce ball. It's another fun game that's very easy to play. Both meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m. If it rains either evening, we'll plan a games night in the Clubhouse. Our monthly “Make a Difference Lunch” on Tuesday, March 15 is going to be at Ruby Tuesdays, on Cortez Blvd. We will meet there at 11:30 am. So many new residents have discovered the joy of shuffleboarding, we've been playing on all 6 courts! There's always room for anyone who want to come out and play. We have a great group. Everyone's laughing, shooting and cheering each other's good or bad aim. Especially when the puck actually hits what it's supposed to! We play every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 1:30 pm to about 4:00 pm (weather permitting). If you haven't been out on our courts for a while, come check us out. Everyone is welcome! Brookridge Shuffleboard lost one of our founding members February 10th. Vic Garritano was instrumental in building our shuffleboard club into what it is now. Over the years, he instilled his love for the game in many ﬂedgling players. Actually, he taught most of our seasoned players how to play. Today, we teach new players as Vic taught us. Vic stepped down as Shuffleboard President a few years ago. Because of his knowledge and love of the game, we play on. PAGE 28

"Kings & Queens" play on Mondays at 2:00 PM, please be at the club by 1:30 PM. Kings & Queens is a group of couples that play 9 holes of golf Monday afternoons alternate shot format for the twosome. If you don't have a male/female partner, you may play as 2 ladies or 2 gents. If you haven't played yet, it might be a great way to meet your fellow golfers. This is a fun group. I'm sure you will enjoy it, but don't be too serious, as it is meant to be fun while enjoying our golf course. Newcomers are always welcome. The cost to play is $1.00 per couple. All money is returned to the winners. It is not necessary to sign up any day, just come to the club ready to play golf. Looking forward to seeing you Monday afternoons!

Our priority is having fun - most of our members are playing from the red or silver tees this year. Come out & enjoy the course with us. Due to Covid-19 we will not exchange money or score cards this year. We'll continue playing “Fun Golf”. There will be no dues to join & play. No weekly pay-outs or points. The ceramic class in Brookridge is open to all residents and neighbors. We have men and woman joining and they are very good for beginners. The beginners are doing some great pieces. I really don't call them beginner's after they finish their first piece. Everyone enjoys what they are doing, and we all have a great time. Classes are Fridays & Saturdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm you can come & go any time within those hours. There is a fee to join, but that includes all paints, brushes, glazes, sealers, coffee, water, snacks. We now are starting to do painting that has to be fired. The Brooksville Creative Writers enjoyed the variety of Christmas and winter stories and poems at our last December meeting in the open-air pavilion. Afterwards, we culminated our meeting with homemade sandwiches and goodies. It was so pleasant to meet with the two groups combined as one. We all have bad days, but with the support of our fellow weight control group members, it does make it easier and we do need the support of each other. We are a “Sewing for Charity” group and welcome everyone at our workshop every Thursday, 9:00 am -11:00 am in Room D at the clubhouse. If you prefer to do our projects at home, it is perfectly okay. We are still in need of Christmas fabric, children's ﬂannel, 1” elastic, clean sheets and pillowcases for hospice gowns and bibs. Finished items are furnished free to various organizations and anyone in Brookridge who has a need. Due to the cancellation of our Pancake Breakfast, donations are key to keeping our group going and we thank all who have donated. January 2022 Donations: 3 Hats (Co. EZ DOES IT EXERCISE by Linda Hartman

Having weak abdominal muscles can affect much more than how you look in the mirror. They are a common cause of lower back pain and poor posture. Your abdominals work in conjunction with your back muscles when bending, lifting, or straightening. Lack of strength in these areas means more pressure on your ligaments and spinal bones. Strengthening those muscles can help you be steadier on your feet and lessen your risk of falling. Our class is for Brookridge residents and their houseguests (Sorry, no children). The cost is ﬁfty cents per class and the ﬁrst class is free! Class starts at 8:30 am and runs to 9:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Classes start with low impact aerobics followed by stretch and tone; weights; and either mats or chairs. The class ends with a balance circle. Weights and mats are available if you don't have your own. Come have fun with us!

CRAFTY STITCHERS We meet every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in meeting room D. Come and join the fun and share your craft ideas with your neighbors. Bring your crafts to work on or show off. We are looking for new crafters to join our group. Lots of tables to spread out and work on a project or even bring your sewing machine. Great if you have limited space at home. Share with likeminded friends and no dues. If you have craft related materials, you to donate drop them by any Tuesday (please only if we are there).
