Out of respect, please turn off all phones & remove hats / Moment of Silence & Pledge of Allegiance Proof of Notice: The agenda was posted on the Brookridge website, at the Administration office, the Clubhouse and emailed to residents on February 14, 2022 - PROOF OF NOTICE ESTABLISHED. Proof of Quorum: President Foster, 1st Vice President Metcalf, 2nd Vice President Basteri, Secretary Stratton, Treasurer Hoose, and Director Stratton were present. PROOF OF QUORUM ESTABLISHED. Also Present: General Manager Carol Webster, Code Enforcement Captain Greg Schubert, Recording Secretary Arlene Ahrens, Facilities Manager Vince Pizzo. Sign in sheet shows 60 members.

Board Correspondence: Letter from Dean George – read by Secretary Stratton. Letter from Larry Biddle – read by Secretary Stratton. Letter from Brookridge Men's Club – motion by V. Stratton, second by Metcalf to approve "A Horse Race" on March 9, 2022, from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Clubhouse. Motion also requested that outside guests be allowed and working out of facility personnel so that no overtime cost are incurred.

Vote taken, all in favor (6-0).

President's Report: Foster – Mask mandate remains in effect, 10-12 staff members tested positive for COVID. The staff needs to be protected.

February 18, mask mandate issue will be re-evaluated.

General Managers Report: Office was closed for two weeks due to COVID exposure. She appreciates everyone's patience as the office catches up on emails, voice mails and paperwork. Please do not spread rumors, they can be hurtful.

Treasurers Report: December - Hoose Unfinished Business: Code of Ethics – Basteri – discussion followed. Board voted 4-2 to table any discussion until the verbiage of a code of ethics can be looked in to.

New Business: Capital Contribution Fee – Hoose. This item must be voted on by the membership. It did not make it on to the March ballot, so it will be discussed to place on the November 2022 ballot. ACC Guidelines – Article 3 – Section 3.24 Screening of RV Ports/Car Ports. Motion by Foster, seconded by V. Stratton to approve ACC changes as submitted. (Insert: All screening material (except live screening) must be attached directly to the carport). Letter read by Paul Campbell (Unit 2) from ACC Chair Harry Calderbank. Discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0).

ACC Appeal – Motion by Metcalf, second by V. Stratton. Lengthy discussion followed. Motion then made by Metcalf, second by V. Stratton to table this item for further review. Vote taken (5-1), motion tabled.

Gated Access System – Motion by Hoose, second by Basteri to table this item pending further review. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0).

Rules & Regulations – Fee Schedule update – Motion by Hoose, second by Metcalf to increase price of screenings for buyers/renters from $75 to $100. Discussion followed. Vote taken, all in favor (6-0). Change will take place 30 days from February 16, 2022.

Report of Directors: V. Stratton – regarding previously tabled items, (ACC changes), are they still being looked at? President Foster told her yes.

Hoose – motion to release previous finance committee from their duties, second by V. Stratton, vote taken, all in favor. (6-0).

Metcalf – Beautification committee still has very few members, they will be concentrating on certain areas, the areas by the office the clubhouse and the fountain by the guard shack. Friday night Bingo is still losing money. Foster – ACC committee is revisiting the proposed changes; they need to clean up the verbiage on the changes.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING - CONTINUED Minutes of Wednesday, December 15, 2021 Continued From Page 8 Member Comments: Hoose – there are approximately 1,400 full times residents and only four people put in their resume to run for the board. Effective immediately, Larry Hoose resigned from the Board of Directors and asked also that his name be removed from the voting and new board for March 2022.

Larry Hoose then got up and left the meeting. V. Stratton – there are 3 people now running for the board, please be sure to vote. Motion by Basteri, second by V. Stratton to appoint Gail Metcalf as treasurer until March when new board is put in place. Vote taken, all in favor (5-0). Rosemarie Basteri will now move into the position of 1St Vice President. Joanne Burns – Unit 4 – people come to her for help, there are liens on homes that the homeowners have passed away. Gail Metcalf told her she would meet with her. Bill Riley – Unit 4 – sorry to see Larry go, the Board of Director's goes through a lot. He has an engineering degree; he would like to sit down with someone and go over water issues. Gail told Bill he should put in a resume for the ACC. Jim Choinski – Unit 4 – President of Men's Club – the Men's Club donates a lot to Brookridge. The Horse Race will now be April 6.

They have instituted a man of the year award, the winner for 2021 is Rich Stratton, he goes above and beyond for the community. Gil Lanctot – Unit 4 he is glad that the Men's Club will be using the horses that he made. Jim Westbrook – Unit 4 – there are many part time residents that would like to volunteer but can't. There should be a way with Zoom or phone calls that they can be included. Loren Williams – Unit 6 – disagrees with the mask mandate, the masks don't help anyway. Motion by Metcalf, second by V. Stratton to adjourn, vote taken all in favor. (5-0) Meeting Adjourned: at 9:00 pm / Transcribed by Arlene Ahrens / Subject to approval on March 8, 2022

A heartfelt Thank You to all the ladies who attended the Celebration of Life service for our dear friend, +Eileen Smith.

She was a sweet soul with a huge heart and will be missed.

Tuesday Night Bingo is doing well, averaging 70 to 80 members and guests.

Volunteers are needed. If you can spare one Tuesday evening a month, Anna Webster will be most appreciative.

Our elections were held after the News & Views went to print. Results will be in the May issue.

Thank you to all of our members who voted.

The continuity and success of the Ladies of Brookridge depends on our Board of Directors, Committees and our loyal members.

Lastly, we bid adieu to our snowbird friends. Have a safe journey and a happy summer.

Hurricane season is almost here.

Last year we were very lucky but we should all keep a close eye on the weather to determine if there could be a potential problem headed our way.

The key to handling any storm is to be prepared in advance. The following is a partial list of tips to help you get started: Keep a three day supply of water on hand per person. One gallon of water per person per day (two quarts for drinking and two for food prep/sanitation).

Store at least a three day supply of non-perishable food. Select foods that require no refrigeration, preparation or cooking and little or no water.

Assemble a basic first aid kit for your home and one for each car.

Keep a battery operated radio (with extra batteries) on hand so you will be informed of updates in the event of power failure.

Have a “tool kit” for extras. i.e. manual can opener, candles, matches, duct tape etc.

Ensure that all medications needed for all household members are in ample supply.

Store important family documents (wills, passports, social security/medical cards) and cash/traveler's checks in a waterproof, portable container.

Remember that pets are a part of your family also so adjust your supplies accordingly.

BROOKRIDGE BROOKRIDGE CERT Our April meeting of this year for Brookridge CERT will be April 6th, the first Wednesday at 10:00 am (4/06/2022). Members of CERT will be continuing discussions about plans that have been made with the county to rebuild the CERT group to prepare Brookridge CERT for any required emergency activities in the coming year.

New administration has produced new activity at the county level which will help strengthen and train CERT volunteers to bring CERT up to current year readiness for any possible disaster to our community.

We need YOU! Come and Volunteer, join our CERT group. Training will be made available to any who are able to serve with us.Contact us to arrange for training classes. E-mail Bill at WWHarLin@aol.com or leave a message at 352-293-4647.

Donald Pratt Donald Pratt moved to the Brookridge Community in 1984 with his wife Joanne who passed away 7/5/2012. Donald had two children (Nancy & Steve), one grandson (Jeff) who married (Tracey) and had a baby (Sydney).

Don was able to meet his great daughter before his passing and was thrilled.

Donald loved his community and everyone in it. Always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

He loved golfing and tending to his Ranger duties on the golf course. He was able to finally get his hole in one before retiring from the game of golf.

Don loved all charities, and always said, if anyone is compelled to do anything, donate to a charity of their choice. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

The Beautification Committee met the first week in March to make plans for this Spring. Since we don't have very many volunteers, we decided to focus our attention on the entrance to Brookridge, specifically from the Brookridge sign area up to the Boulevard, which will include the front of the Administration Building and around the fountain/guard shack. The two hard freezes we had this winter took a toll on some of the plants, so things aren't looking so good right now. We also plan to do some work at the Clubhouse.

Thank you to the anonymous $1000 donor! We will put it to good use buying mulch, new plants, fertilizer, etc.

We always welcome new volunteers, especially those who have a love for gardening, knowledge of Florida plants and landscaping, or those who would just like something more to do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jim Snyder, Chairman, at 352-596-1804.

Meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m., at the Clubhouse.

We singles have a lot going on in April, and in the months to follow as well. Check out these activities: We're starting the month on April 6 with a day trip to the Congo River Mini-Golf Park in Port Richey, then finishing the afternoon with a stop at the Hudson Beach Ice Cream Parlor.

Cost of the golf is $14.49. We will leave from the tennis courts at 1:00 p.m.

You need to RSVP Germaine by April 3 at 207-215-0529 to attend.

At our April 10 meeting we will have a guest speaker from Hospice who will give us information on services available in our area. Afterward, we will be playing games to complete the evening. Bring snacks and a drink if you wish. $2 donation.

On Saturday, April16 we will head up to Inverness for the stock car races. We will meet at the tennis courts at 4:30 pm.

"Kings & Queens" play on Mondays at 2:00 PM, please be at the club by 1:30 PM. Kings & Queens is a group of couples that play 9 holes of golf Monday afternoons alternate shot format for the twosome. If you don't have a male/female partner, you may play as 2 ladies or 2 gents.

If you haven't played yet, it might be a great way to meet your fellow golfers.

This is a fun group. I'm sure you will enjoy it, but don't be too serious, as it is meant to be fun while enjoying our golf course.

Newcomers are always welcome.

The cost to play is $1.00 per couple.

There was a lot of green on the courts for our St Patrick's Day party! And plenty of the traditional corned beef and cabbage at Beef O Brady's.

A great time was had by all.

Our final meeting of the season will be on Saturday April 2nd at 10:00 am.

Our next celebration will be a pizza party (with everyone bringing a dish to share) at the pavilion on April 6th at 5:00 pm.

This will be the final party of the year, saying farewell to all the snowbirds. We will play tennis before and after the meal. And maybe even try our hand at shuffleboard! A bit similar to curling, don't you think?

We wish a safe trip and a fun summer for all those who are heading north as the weather changes.

Those of us who are still here are taking advantage of the great weather every morning from 8:00 till 10:00 am, except for Sundays.

We want everyone to know that F.I.S.H. is here to help.

How do we do that? We provide shelf-stable food and assistance to anyone in need. We respect everyone's privacy and do not have forms to fill out or requirements to meet. All we ask is that you contact us. We deliver right to your door.

The ceramic class in Brookridge is open to all residents and neighbors. We have men and woman joining and they are very good for beginners. The beginners are doing some great pieces. I really don't call them beginner's after they finish their first piece.

Everyone enjoys what they are doing, and we all have a great time.

Classes are Fridays & Saturdays from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm you can come & go any time within those hours. There is a fee to join, but that includes all paints, brushes, glazes, sealers, coffee, water, snacks.

We now are starting to do painting that has to be fired.

We are a “Sewing for Charity” group and welcome everyone at our workshop every Thursday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. in Room D at the clubhouse.

If you prefer to do our projects at home, it is perfectly okay.

We are still in need of Christmas fabric, 2 yards of fleece, 1” elastic, ¾” sew-on Velcro, clean sheets and pillowcases for hospice gowns and bibs.

Finished items are furnished free to various organizations and anyone in Brookridge who has a need. Thank you for all the donations we received of sheets, pillowcases, children's toys, etc.

February 2022 Donations: 9 chemo hats, 6 blankets (Co. Line Cancer); 18 chemo hats (Hwy 50 Cancer); Bouncy chair, child's scooter, 1 dressing table (Fostering Hope); 11 blankets; 30 bibs (Noble Center); 9 gowns (Hospice); 72 toothpastes, 40 pencil erasers (Youth Center).

February was American Heart Month; so, it's time to start giving your heart love.

Take a 30-minute walk after dinner.

This can help with digestion, weight loss, and lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

This ultimately improves heart health.

Exercising at least three days a week can also help.

Our class is for Brookridge residents and their houseguests (Sorry, no children).

The cost is fifty cents per class and the first class is free!

Class starts at 8:30am and runs to 9:30am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Classes start with low impact aerobics followed by stretch and tone; weights; and either mats or chairs.

The class ends with a balance circle.

Weights and mats are available if you don't have your own. Come have fun with us!

CRAFTY STITCHERS We meet every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in meeting room D. Come and join the fun and share your craft ideas with your neighbors. Bring your crafts to work on or show off. We are looking for new crafters to join our group.

Lots of tables to spread out and work on a project or even bring your sewing machine. Great if you have limited space at home. Share with likeminded friends and no dues.

If you have craft related materials, you to donate drop them by any Tuesday (please only if we are there).
