The first Hobo Day occurred on November 2, 1912 and it is currently the largest one day event in the state.

The Bummobile is a 1912 Ford Model T donated by Flandreau farmer Frank Weigel in 1938. It has led the Hobo Day Parade every year since 1939, except 1942 when South Dakota State College cancelled homecoming during World War II. –sdstate.edu

Dakota Nature Park is open to public use for activities such as fishing, bird-watching, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, canoeing, kayaking, and picnics.

Brookings County Outdoor Adventure Center boasts an Olympic-length archery range and shooting gallery.

McCrory Gardens is a botanical garden & arboretum operated and maintained by South Dakota State University.

Fear Asylum is South Dakota’s #1 haunted attraction. Check their facebook page for most current information on the 2019 season.

Agricultural Heritage Museum Come experience the history of South Dakota’s agriculture and settlement, as well as, learn about the technology of farming and life on the northern Great Plains at the Agricultural Heritage Museum!

South Dakota Art Museum features seven spacious galleries and a collections archive of more than 7,000 works of art. Among the galleries, four feature rotating art from its permanent collections including Harvey Dunn paintings, Paul Goble illustrations, and Marghab Linens.

Coughlin Campanile Coughlin Campanile, the face of South Dakota State University, is a chimes tower that stands 165 feet tall.

Made of limestone and brick, the campanile was a gift from 1909 graduate Charles Coughlin, who was the president of the Briggs and Stratton Company from 1935 to 1972.

The campanile rings out the time, on the hour and plays music during the 10-minute period in-between classes as students are walking on campus.

To visit the campanile and climb its 180 steps, check out a key at the Alumni Association office or the University Police Department.

Figure out where the food specials are and make the rounds.

5. You have the time.

Own how you choose to use your time.

Learn which books to buy and which to borrow or rent.

10. Don’t fully depend on your advisor.

Ultimately, it’s up to you to understand where you are in your program.

11. Go to the review sessions.

This is where professors reveal what you should focus on (read: what will be on the exam).

12. Plan communication with your parents.

Set up a weekly time to chat so they can catch up on your life.

13. Companies are already looking at you.

Keep this in mind as you post about Friday night.

14. Get to the gym.

6. Avoid extensions.

7. You will get lonely.

8. You will get bored.

15. Sleep is your friend.

Procrastinators will procrastinate, no matter the deadline.
