The purpose of this document is to provide the parents and administration with guidelines related to school fees payment, increment and refunds

School fees policy statements

The amounts of school fees charged in Brookhurst International Schools will forever remain lower compared to other schools. This is to achieve the objective of the founders which is to improve access to quality international education to as many children as possible. This is the second primary objective and motivation of establishing the schools

The management will focus on collecting 100% of the fees before the start of every term to ensure the recurrent budget is well funded by fees collected. We request our parents to cooperate by depositing fees before the start of every term to enable the school function smoothly.

The school aims to ensure the student’s learning calendar is not interrupted due to non-payment of fees We encourage the parents to undertake effective financial planning to ensure fees is paid when it follows due

Specific guidelines

Fees amount and increment

The fees amount is indicated in the fees structure provided annually. Increment is done annually to take care of increased cost of living. We consider cost of living index and additional services the school might have introduced resulting in increased expenditure The average annual increment is between 515% The school will always balance the interests of the parents and students in increasing school fees to ensure all students enrolled are able to complete their studies with ease.

School fees Payment

Full payment of school fees is expected at the beginning of every term. Remember to indicate the name of the student and grade in the deposit slip. A bank deposit slip is provided as prove of payment before the student is re-admitted into the school Banker’s cheques are accepted in school and personal cheques are selectively accepted depending on the payment history of an individual School fees can be paid in two equal instalments. The second payment will follow due at the end of the following month. School fees for candidates in year 13 and 11 is paid in two equal instalments. The proof of payment is forwarded to bislavington@brookhurstschool.or.ke. Always indicate the name of the student and the year on the deposit slip or send by WhatsApp to +254114178784

Refund of fees and any other amount paid to the school.

Amount paid to the school is not refundable.

Mode of payment

No money is paid in cash in school including pocket money and incase this happens; the school will not acknowledge such amounts Payments can be made through bank transfer using various available digital channels.

School fees is paid either in KES or in USD, all the bank accounts for both currencies are provided below. The conversion rate of KES to USD depends on the prevailing market rate.

Family discount on school and transport fees

The school has the following discounts for a family with more than one child in school

Family Discounts, on Tuition Fees only are allowed and is as follows: • 2nd Child 10% • 3rd Child 20% • 4th Child 30% • 5th and subsequent Child 40%

Family Discount on transport is allowed subject to the children being on the same route at 50% for the second and subsequent child

Payment for aviation

Funds for students taking aviation are deposited directly into the aviation bank account in Family bank

The fees’ structure is provided annually to the students and parents. The school only charges Kshs 30,000 per term for facilitating the program and all other amounts is paid to the Aviation School No parent or student is allowed to make payment directly to the Aviation school. Bank details are as follows: Brookhurst International School, 046000019333 Kilimani Branch Write the name of the student, grade and send the proof of payment to accounts office.

School fees collection

Parents are required to send bank deposit slips at least three days before school opening to allow accounts department update records and produce a list of students to be re-admitted back to school

No student with fees balance will be readmitted in school. Students who will have cleared schools’ fees 3 days before opening will be provided with a readmission number that will facilitate them to access the school and be enrolled.

Payment of External Examination

he school will only make examination entries for students who will have cleared school fees and examination fees The examination invoice will be paid in British Sterling pound This is because examination invoice to the school from Cambridge is in GBP. Secondly, the payment is not affected by foreign currency exchange losses

Parents will receive a separate examination invoice and the total amount depends on the number of subjects taken by the students

The examination amounts are deposited only in the following GBP bank account.

Refund of Caution money

Refund of caution money is done after a student has cleared with the school. Any outstanding amount arising from damage of school property is deducted. Refund is only done if the parent has cleared the fees. A cheque is written in the name of the parent and not the student. The amount can also be transferred to the parent’s bank account provided. This is done at least three days after a clearance form has been received and verified by accounts office.

Withdraw of a student from school and school fees refund

In case a parent may wish to withdraw a student from the school due to reasonable circumstances, a notice in writing of one term to the management is required. If the notice is not given, the parent will be required to pay school fees one term in lieu of notice The aim is to ensure the school runs its budget smoothly throughout the term to ensure services are not affected when income is drastically reduced.

Students expelled from school due to indiscipline

In case a student is expelled from the school due to indiscipline, the school will not refund fees paid. The parent will be expected to pay outstanding fees before clearance from the school
