For 50 years, Meridian Technology Center has helped people build skills, careers and confidence. What began in 1975 with just 13 programs has grown into a place where learning sparks opportunity and communities grow stronger.

In 1972, local schools united behind the bold idea to create a place where education and workforce development could open doors to brighter futures. That idea became reality the following year, when voters approved plans for the Indian Meridian Area Vocational Technical School.
From day one, Meridian has worked with local industry partners to meet workforce needs. Training programs adapt to reflect high-demand skills, preparing students and businesses for success.
We opened our doors with 13 career training programs and 30 staff members. It marked the beginning of a mission to educate, enrich lives and secure economic futures. Today, Meridian offers more than 80 career majors and employs over 150 staff members.
What began with six schools has grown into a district that now serves 10 partner high schools. Whether it’s career training, business support or short-term learning, we’re proud to meet the needs of each community we serve.
During the 2025 - 26 school year, we will celebrate 50 years of impact. As we mark this milestone, we continue the legacy of excellence that has defined Meridian for the past half-century. Let’s honor the hard work that got us here and look ahead to the bright future we’re building together.

Marking Meridian Tech’s 50 year anniversary with the story of one life long learner, nearly 50 classes strong.
For Joyce Taylor, taking short courses at Meridian Technology Center has meant more than learning new skills. It has been a way to approach every project with confidence. Over the past few years, she has taken nearly 50 classes, building skills in everything from woodworking to baking and cheese making.
“I don’t remember ever leaving a class without learning something new,” Taylor said. “It’s just more fun to learn as a group, and the instructors are so kind. They always help you figure things out.”
