BROMSGROVE’S ALUMNI MAGAZINE ISSUE 12 2025/26

Llanwrtyd Wells, 80 years on - the small Welsh town where Bromsgrove was evacuated to during WW2

The first word... Welcome to the latest edition of Bromsgrovians Connected. I hope the pages that follow bring back memories of your time at Bromsgrove, and perhaps some familiar faces with whom you shared your school days. In a rapidly changing world, in which the lives and locations of OBs are anything but constant, we hope that the School continues to provide a reassuring familiarity. However, it was not always so. As the Editor has described, this year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, and I commend to you the film produced by the Bromsgrovian Office and our Archivist, which offers a glimpse of what it was like to be a Bromsgrove pupil during that conflict.

Central to the story was the relocation of the entire School to Llanwrtyd Wells, masterminded by the wartime Headmaster, Mr David Walters, and made successful by the adaptability and resilience of all the staff and pupils involved. All of us hope that there is never again a need to undertake such a change. In the meantime, enjoy the pages that follow, and please do continue to attend OB events; you are always very welcome, just as you are to visit your School.

We are always delighted to meet you, not only to hear more about the path you have chosen to follow since leaving Bromsgrove, but so you can see for yourself how the School has evolved to serve the needs of today’s pupils. However, you will also, I hope, see plenty that brings back memories of your own time as a pupil here. MICHAEL PUNT HEADMASTER
