Off Campus Field Trips/Programming are a routine and significant aspect of the Brockton School program. In registering your child(ren) at Brockton School you have agreed with the philosophy and programs of the school including your child(ren)’s participation in off campus field trips/ programming. This includes but is not restricted to: curricular and extra curricular activities, trips to educational centres in and around the Lower Mainland (for example: Science World, art galleries, theatres, Fort Langley Historic Site, etc.), outdoor recreational centres and activities (for example: skating, running in Lynn Valley Regional Park), and other local excursions. Each academic year we ask parents/guardians to acknowledge consent for your child to travel off the school campus for field trips/programming. This consent will be kept on file with the hope of reducing repetitive paperwork whenever possible. While you may not be asked to sign permission forms for each individual field trip, you will receive information regarding the field trip from your child(ren)’s teacher/coach. For all overnight school trips or trips of higher risk, you will be asked to sign a specific permission form for the particular activity. Transportation to field trip locations will be arranged using some of the following types of transportation: • Public transport - including Sea Bus, Bus, Sky-train • School bus - rented and/or the Brockton Bus • Taxi (when necessary) • Teachers’ private vehicles* • Parents’ private vehicles or other volunteers’ private vehicles* *All private vehicle drivers will submit their driver’s abstract, criminal record check, and insurance documents to the school.
