BRAVA! BRAVO! BRAVISSIMO!

Once again, we humbly thank our friends at BROADWAY CARES and THE CENTER for their unending service to our communities.

Dear friends,

On behalf of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, we are thrilled to welcome you to this year’s inspiring edition of Broadway Backwards

At the heart of everything our organizations do - every lifesaving grant made, person helped and community supported - is love. And nothing brings to life the magic and power of LGBTQ+ love quite like Broadway Backwards. For the next two hours, we invite you to leave fear, hate and heartbreaking headlines at the door of the historic New Amsterdam Theatre. You’re safe, and you’re welcome here.

Broadway Backwards brings together our two organizations to create a safer and more inclusive world. Whether through services for people living with HIV/AIDS and other critical illnesses or providing resources for LGBTQ+ youth and those recovering from substance use, Broadway Cares and The Center ensure that essential, life-affirming services are available for thousands of LGBTQ+ individuals and their families year-round.

In addition to providing lifesaving programs and services such as mental health counseling, services for people living with HIV and AIDS, youth programming, substance use treatment and economic initiatives, The Center stands as a vibrant hub for LGBTQ+ culture in New York City, showcasing a diverse range of artistic expressions — from film premieres and musical talents to literary discussions and theatrical presentations. Founded in 1983 at the height of the AIDS epidemic, The Center is a safe space for all LGBTQ+ New Yorkers and empowers them to lead healthy, successful lives.

At Broadway Cares, your support provided $17.2 million in grants last year to health clinics, food service organizations, emergency financial assistance programs and housing initiatives in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. Thanks to your generosity, Broadway Cares also is the single largest financial supporter of the vital social service programs of the Entertainment Community Fund (formerly The Actors Fund), which provide the entire entertainment community with a safety net of help in times of need or crisis.

By joining us in this celebration of love tonight, you’re providing critical care to those who need it most - from our little corners of the Theater District and the West Village to vulnerable communities across the country. Thank you for your commitment to our work. Enjoy the show.

Sincerely,

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center

Dear friends,

I’m absolutely thrilled and grateful you have joined us tonight.

Broadway Backwards is the culmination of endless creativity and hard work by an army of beautiful, brilliant and outstanding theater professionals and artists.

I hope that what tonight represents, beyond an evening of entertainment with soaring high notes and fabulous dancing, is as meaningful for you as it has been for all of us putting it together. Tonight represents individual and collective struggles we have experienced. It also celebrates our journey of coming out - and not just that first coming out, but coming out throughout our lives again and again - hopefully bringing each of us somehow closer to our own personal authenticity.

I think about the courage of so many LGBTQ+ people and the courage of everyone involved with Broadway Backwards bringing these songs and stories to life with such heart and humor. It reminds me how deeply grateful I am that I’m able to be a part of this community and “out” as a theater artist, friend, son, husband and father.

I am grateful for your personal generosity toward two organizations that continue to push our fight forward and stand up for those most vulnerable in our community and beyond. By championing and celebrating Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, you have taken an active role in the next chapter of our community. Thank you for carrying that torch with courage, heart and compassion.

Have a fabulous time tonight.

With love,

Adam Potter & Tom Wallace congratulate Broadway Backwards and its significant financial impact to Broadway Cares and The Center
