Big story in the cybersecurity labor market is a severe workforce shortage.

“The demand for the (cybersecurity) workforce is expected to rise to 6 million (globally) by 2019, with a projected shortfall of 1.5 million�

"We are in a unique position for the region and state to become an umbrella organization serving as a catalyst for the Fort Gordon Cyber District to become a nationally recognized cyber center of excellence. We will inspire the building of a comprehensive cyber work force and capabilities throughout the region and state. We will partner with economic development organizations, academia, cyber related businesses and non-profits to help build our brand. We will identify, quantify, and inspire increased investments in quality of life requirements for the greater Augusta region to attract and retain a quality cyber work force. We will maintain our focus on strengthening the partnership with Fort Gordon, knowing the importance this military installation is to our region, state, and nation. By 2020, we have achieved national recognition as a destination for cyber work, life and play."

1. Advocate for the region to be known as a cyber center of excellence… a cyber security lead for the United States 2. Support Fort Gordon’s priorities, interests, and concerns with regional and government businesses and organizations 3. Provide the catalyst to initiate and build a world class cyber workforce and cyber capabilities in the region, Georgia, and South Carolina.

4. Continue to be a voice for enhancements in education across K-12, college and universities… needs of the cyber workforce … achieving National Centers of Academic Excellence
