FOREWORD

What we now know as the mighty British Music Embassy started out in a much humbler format back in 2006: a barbeque stage on Brush Square. An Amy Winehouse performance we held on that same stage the following year caused queues around the block, prompting us to find a bigger venue for 2008.

When we first put the idea for the British Music Embassy (a name originated by British Underground’s Crispin Parry and myself during a long drive back in the UK) to SXSW Music head honcho Brent Grulke, and said we wanted to host a venue for the festival’s then entire four-day run, a few eyebrows were raised. But the South By team believed in the vision. After all, British music is synonymous with success and originality the world over.

After several years at Latitude 30 on San Jacinto Blvd, two years running virtual BME stages due to COVID, and stints at the Cedar Street Courtyard and the Downright Hotel, we moved to our new home at Palm Door on Sixth in 2025.

During those years, we’ve beefed up our stage and audio, joined up with a host of brilliant partners, attracted bigger and bigger crowds, and learnt a huge amount along the way - and what started out as a small showcase has become a two-stage, 7-day spectacular platforming the UK’s best and brightest emerging talent.

2026 looks set to be another milestone year for the BME, with another fantastic line-up - and we’re delighted that you’re with us on the journey.

- Phil Patterson OBE

SASSY 009 - 12:00AM

A shape-shifting project from Oslo-born, London-based producer, songwriter and vocalist Sunniva Lindgård. Finding early acclaim with 2017’s ‘Do You Mind’ EP and later 2021’s sultry, bass-driven ‘Heart Ego’ mixtape, her ambitious new 2026 album, ‘Dreamer+’ is steered by freshly distorted vocals & elements of grunge, shoegaze, ‘90s beatronica & gauzy hyperpop. james@heaven-sent.xyz instagram.com/sassy_009

BRICKNASTY - 11:20PM

2025 marked the release of Bricknasty’s most daring, unflinching and spiritually charged project to date, EP ‘BLACKS LAW’, arriving on the back of a triumphant live run that saw Bricknasty make their Glastonbury debut (hailed as one of Notion mag’s “ones to watch” at the festival), and cementing their reputation as one of the most electrifying and unpredictable new live acts out of Ireland. georgiejesson@roughtrademanagement.com bricknasty.com

THE HAUNTED YOUTH

- 10:40PM

Hasselt-based Joachim Liebens plays mesmerizing psych pop reminiscent of MGMT, DIIV, Slowdive or The Cure. The songs –about despair, hope, and the feeling of being a misunderstood misfit – are coated in a rich and dreamy international sound.

Debut single ‘Teen Rebel’ certainly hit the mark: the band won Studio Brussel’s talent contest De Nieuwe Lichting, and consequently got a lot of international airplay. Follow-up singles got picked by the likes of KEXP, Consequence of Sound, KCRW and NME, all leading up to their highly anticipated debut album in November.

Now she’s back in Texas after four hugely successful albums in multiple languages, a Mercury Prize nomination and a Welsh Music Prize win. A powerhouse of a musician. fiona@showponymgt.com gwenno.info

SAINT AGNES - INDOOR STAGE, 8:00PM

This ferocious four-strong outfit are all about honest lyrics, intense vocals, rage-fuelled music, and hitting the live & festival circuits hard. As much gang as band, Saint Agnes seek to empower those who’ve been battered and bruised yet refuse to lie down, a thread that runs deep within albums ‘Bloodsuckers’, & ‘Welcome To Silvertown’.

STEVE LAMACQ

Anywhere else in the world, the idea of seeing a future global singing star opening the bill of a showcase gig in a Mexican restaurant would be utterly absurd. Not here in Austin. Back in 2008, the surprise star of the BBC Introducing night at the Rio Grande restaurant was the, back then utterly unknown, Florence & The Machine.

Picked to perform off the back of a couple of lo-fi demos, Florence’s set featured a spellbinding early version of ‘Between Two Lungs’ and ended with ‘Kiss With A Fist’ during which she dived into the restaurant’s ornamental pool, emerged sopping wet, and finished the show hiding underneath the make-shift stage.

It set the scene for so many memorable and often unpredictable sets which have followed in the years since, including early shows by the likes of Catfish & the Bottlemen, Little Simz, Idles, Fontaines DC and more recently the arch-rock eccentricities of Fat Dog. There’s been indie darlings, punk rockers, rap, soul and electronica. But most of all, as we bring you another hand-picked, eclectic selection of emerging British talent, one thing we have learnt, is: there’s no showcase quite like SXSW for producing moments of fledging pop history.

SIAN ELERI

Austin during SXSW feels like stepping into a parallel universe. The whole city turns into a fever dream - a shimmering mirage of madness where the laser-beam beeps of the bat bridge soundtrack the crowds sprawling through the city with hopes of finding the next Big Thing. It’s surreal, chaotic, and easily one of the most essential new music moments of the year.

As a Selector Radio DJ, I’ve discovered acts there who’ve gone on to huge things - from fcukers turning The Creek and the Cave into a rave in 2024, to Jacob Alon’s magnetic BME set last Spring.

That’s the magic of SXSW: the tightrope between the surreal and the sublime. Late, humid nights spotting bulldogs on skateboards, actual cowboys, and the odd blood moon, followed by mornings kayaking down a mirrored Colorado River, belly full of BBQ, watching turtles sunbathe on the banks. It’s class – bring on 2026!

WEST LDN CARNIVAL ON 6TH

For one night at SXSW, 6th Street gets a proper taste of Notting Hill Carnival – flags up, masquerade dancers cutting through, whistles, and that shoulder-to-shoulder warmth where the whole room moves together. It’s a special one: 2026 marks 60 years of Notting Hill Carnival (Europe’s largest event) – and for the first time we’re taking the energy overseas, bringing a slice of London to the US!

BME becomes the block, with the legendary Rampage Sound controlling the vibes (dancehall, R&B, hip-hop – you name it!) and Kolt powering an insane line-up featuring: Kairo Keyz, Morgan, Zee – plus special guests when the moment’s right… Expect sing-along hooks, sharp switch-ups, and “PULL UPPPP” energy. Come early, grab your free custom highlight video (thanks, Happaning!), stay for the surprises — and maybe even some jerk chicken.

PPL

Austin, y’all know you have our hearts! We’re honoured to be returning as part of the British Music Embassy at Palm Door on Sixth.

What can we tell you about SXSW that music industry legend hasn’t already told you? You will experience some of the most memorable shows of your life, by some of the greatest UK artists before they sell out arenas, shift popular culture, or win the big industry prizes.

PPL is all too aware of how important it is to support emerging artists at pivotal moments like these, and we’re passionate about helping them shine on stages like the British Music Embassy, as well as through initiatives like the International Showcase Fund (ISF). Last year, BRIT’s Critics’ Choice winner Jacob Alon

appeared on this very stage, and ISF helped incredible artists like jasmine 4.t, Master Peace and Ellur grab their moment in the spotlight in Austin.

Of course, SXSW isn’t just about the music – it’s about the tacos too. You’ll be needing fuel for the music marathon you’re about to undertake. We can’t wait to see what this year’s festival serves up.

BPI

Hello Austin – did you miss us?

It’s nice to be back again showcasing the best of British at our home away from home, Palm Door on 6th. Last year saw an amazing cross-section of acts that quite simply blew the roof off (ok, technically our outdoor stage doesn’t have a roof, but let’s not nitpick). This year we’re back with another feast of the best new acts from across our diverse and talented island(s) – we represent one of the most diverse music scenes anywhere in the world and we hope you will join us to see as much of it as you can.

For many of the artists showcasing at BME this year, this week will see them take their first steps performing on this side of the Atlantic. We’re sure they’ve got incredible careers ahead of them and we hope you enjoy being there to witness the start of their many successes.

You only need to look at the 2025 line-up to see the difference a year can make for these artists; last year’s performers include a BRIT Award Critics’ Choice winner (Jacob Alon), one of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Artists of the Year (Maruja), a UK Official Albums Chart-topping band (The K’s) and many more exciting acts.

Finally, last year we decided that rather than choosing our favourite BBQ joint we’d just visit them all - this year we are trying to find chicken as good as Gus’s. Any suggestions?

When they’re not waxing lyrical about the joys of British music, our staff will be around handing out earplugs and fans all week, so please stop them and say hello and give them your suggestions if you can!

BBC INTRODUCING

At BBC Introducing our sole purpose is to push forward a new wave of unsigned, undiscovered and under-the-radar UK talent.

We have now launched BBC Introducing in America

BBC Introducing in America officially launched in December 2025, to support upcoming US artists and their music, working in partnership with college radio shows in Tennessee with the intention of expanding to more states across America in the future.

Hosted from 90.3 FM WUTK “THE ROCK”, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, each Introducing in America show spotlights local, independent artists from Tennessee, and features an artist from the UK, giving up-and-coming UK acts a platform in the US. New musicians and artists from Tennessee can submit their music to the College Radio Foundation’s site to have a chance to get their track played on the radio.

Since its inception in 2007, BBC Introducing has seen a continual growth of independent artists submitting their music to the BBC Introducing Uploader in the UK. BBC Introducing in America expands on this, offering the opportunity to support new and undiscovered talent on an international level, responding to the rise of independent musicians from across the globe, as well as continuing to promote and support artists from the UK, offering a new global platform for their music. bbc.co.uk/introducing

In 2010, Natal moved into drum kits, attracting drummers like Jamie Morrison, Sian Monaghan, Michael Rennie, Steven G Legend and Oli Wiseman.
