THIRD YOUNG HORSE TITLE FOR LOTTIE

Lottie Fry and Kjento have taken back-to-back young horse titles with an outstanding win at the Longines FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses, in Ermelo, the Netherlands (08 – 11 September).

Fellow Brit Sadie Smith piloted Swanmore Dantina to a phenomenal top-five place, while Bart Veeze and Jan van den Heuvel’s British Hanoverian Denton RMD finished ninth in the Final for six-year-old horses.

In Sunday’s Final for sevenyear-old horses, Kjento, who was six-year-old World Champion last year, was beautifully presented by Lottie to produce a performance of power, elasticity and suppleness to earn a score total of 85.786% to take the win.

Kjento was bred by A.J. van Os and is owned by Van Olst Horses.

Lottie also won this championship with Glamourdale in 2018, before the pair went on to scoop double gold at the FEI World Championships in Herning this year.

VACCINATION RULE

A temporary derogation of the sixmonthly EI vaccination booster requirement has been confirmed by British Dressage for both national and international competition in response to distribution problems with doses of the equine influenza vaccination, which are expected to continue until the end of October at the earliest.

Owners with horses registered with British Dressage should note the following change to our rules for national competition.

The current BD EI vaccination policy states that the most recent booster injection must have been given within six calendar months (+21 days) prior to the horse competing. There will be a temporary derogation of this rule with immediate effect, until further notice. The requirement for a 12-month booster will continue to remain in place. It is vitally important that this is maintained, otherwise horses will be required to restart their vaccination programme before they can compete in affiliated dressage competition.

NEW DIRECTOR SOUGHT

An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the BD Board as a Director, with specific responsibility for providing advice and guidance on HR, leg legal and governance matters.

This is a non-executive position, which will be a co-opted appointment for an initial term of four years, to provide independent oversight and input into our human resources, legal and governance frameworks.

The role is undertaken on a voluntary basis, to help provide leadership and strategic direction to the Board and senior management team of British Dressage. There will also be the opportunity to chair working groups to help plan and develop the organisation’s activities on specific projects. We therefore welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates that have previous relevant experience gained from similar roles in a professional capacity.
