PRAM-FRIENDLY WILDLIFE WALKS
PRAM-FRIENDLY WILDLIFE WALKS
Sandgate Foreshore
Craving some fresh air on wide, manageable paths that make life much easier for parents with prams and toddlers on foot? We’ve rounded up seven of the best flat, pram-friendly walks across South East Queensland that also include some wildlife-spotting.
SHORNCLIFFE TO SANDGATE FORESHORE, SANDGATE • The Walk: A picturesque, wide, and flat 2km path that hugs the northern bayside foreshore. • The Wildlife: Aside from the fresh ocean air, you can spot plenty of coastal birdlife, marine life, and soldier crabs at low tide on this walk. There are also fantastic playgrounds (like Lower Moora Park and Arthur Davis Park) and cafés to stop at along the way.
12 www.brisbanekids.com.au
NATHAN RIDGE TRACK, NATHAN • The Walk: Looking for a slightly longer walk? This wide, flat 3.5km pram-friendly circuit within Toohey Forest Park is still an easy walk and offers plenty of shade. • The Wildlife: These trails are lined with eucalyptus trees together with colourful wildflowers in late winter and spring. Keep your eyes peeled high and low for native wildlife, including echidnas, kookaburras, lizards, and even koalas!
PRAM-FRIENDLY WILDLIFE WALKS
Brisbane Koala Bushlands
Osprey at Moreton Bay Central Lakes
STOCKYARD CREEK TRAILS, BURBANK
MORETON BAY CENTRAL LAKES WALK, PETRIE
• The Walk: Located within the Brisbane Koala Bushlands is one of the most peaceful pramfriendly walks in Brisbane, with a 1.4km trail featuring smooth boardwalks and viewing decks.
• The Walk: This relatively new walk is 3km long, made of wide concrete paths. It can be a little tricky to find, but the entry is located to the left of The Mill Petrie playground car park.
• The Wildlife: Keep your eyes peeled high in the gum trees! This dedicated conservation reserve offers little ones a real chance at spotting koalas, wallabies and abundant birdlife.
• The Wildlife: Early accounts identify koalas, snakes, whipbirds, and even fish seen leaping out of the water. Keep an eye out for the magnificent Osprey!

PRAM-FRIENDLY WILDLIFE WALKS
BERRINBA WETLANDS, BERRINBA • The Walk: Covering 80 hectares of nature reserve, the 2.8km Greater Wetland Walk features a wide, flat, and pram-friendly pathway. • The Wildlife: The pathways snake along boardwalks and over bridges, putting you right in the habitat of local nesting waterbirds, pelicans, and turtles.
TIPS • Take plenty of water, sunscreen and insect repellent before heading out. • If you plan to bring your four-legged family member, double-check council guidelines first as several of these walks are nature reserves that strictly prohibit dogs.
EDDIE SANTAGIULIANA WAY, CLEVELAND • The Walk: This track is a mix of smooth boardwalks and concrete paths, making it perfect for a stroller. The pram-friendly section goes from the bottom of Channel Street South or Island Street in Cleveland, and runs to Manning Esplanade in Thornlands. • The Wildlife: The changing habitats (from mangroves to parklands) ensure an array of wildlife spotting opportunities, from koalas to birds of prey.
